Pray without season.

Pray without season.

I had a conversation with my elder sister about 'praying without ceasing'. I told her it seems we are doubting God when we pray continually - on a specific problem. I told her, 'Once you tell God something in prayers He hears you and would respond at the right time - and there is no need repeating what you have said before...or reminding Him of it...'

She told me 'it is wrong not to constantly pray to God concerning that problem'.

I see it as a lack of faith (this is my opinion). Take for instance, I ask my dad to buy me a Nokia E7...and he says, 'I would', Then, if I keep telling him:

'I need a phone', and afterwards:
'Will you buy it truly?' and later:
'I just need to make calls - and I need a phone' and after about 3 hrs:
'I like Nokia E7, dad' etc

He might feel embarrassed and could think I am doubting his capabilities. He could see it as a lack of faith or trust in him.

But my sister instructed/reminded me that we are instructed topray without ceasing 1Thess5:17.
She also directed me to the verse that says: 'God loves/blesses those who reminds Him of His promises (not that He has forgotten). I don't remember the exact verse...Psalm 119 ( Phil 4:6 is closer to it):sad

So [at times] I see it as a lack of faith. I do not mean it is completely wrong to repeat a prayer topic unto God.
But how do you look at this: I pray to God, I give a prayer request to my pastor, I give it to my boss, I give it to CF.net the following day, I turn to my friend's pastor on Monday, I write Mike in a PM, I phone up Handy at the dead of the night, I visit Reba late in the night and disturb her family, I travel to Gaza to meet a prayer warrior....? God isn't deaf!

I don't know how to reconcile the two verses my sister quoted with my intention:dunno:shrug

I phone up Handy at the dead of the night

Was that you, Classik? :lol

By the way, brother...please, please...reign in the desire to play with font size ...that post was hard on the eyes! :eeeekkk

But, it's a topic well worth discussing.

I tend to agree with your sister...God doesn't mind at all when we "nag" Him, ask Him over and over about the things that we're in prayer for.

Jesus shared this parable:

“In a certain city there was a judge who did not fear God and did not respect man. There was a widow in that city, and she kept coming to him, saying, ‘Give me legal protection from my opponent.’ For a while he was unwilling; but afterward he said to himself, ‘Even though I do not fear God nor respect man, yet because this widow bothers me, I will give her legal protection, otherwise by continually coming she will wear me out.’†And the Lord said, “Hear what the unrighteous judge *said; now, will not God bring about justice for His elect who cry to Him day and night, and will He delay long over them? I tell you that He will bring about justice for them quickly. However, when the Son of Man comes, will He find faith on the earth?†Luke 18 1-8

Yeah, Classic! Why didn't you use the BIG font? :p

Let's keep that silliness to one post, eh. :)

When we pray we are sending our petition before Christ who is our mediator before the Father as Jesus sits at the right hand of Gods throne. We pray once (petition) and then we never cease to thank God for answered prayer even if we do not get our answers right away as all things are in Gods timing and he knows better for what we need and when we need it. We also have to remember that sometimes Gods' answer is no especially if we are praying for materialistic things, but will make a way for us to obtain those things we need.

Big fancy fonts aside :shocked! I thought the topic said,

Pray without seasoning.

:lol

Can I at least brine my prayers so they're not so dry? ;)

Sure you can. (My dad prays for long, and I don't get quite comfortable with it...sorry)

I see, this Xmas is gonna be a very special one...and we are under the influence of kitchen wonders.

:nono2 it's not xmas it's Christmas. X sort of stands for x-in out Christ. OK, I am probably being petty:shrug, but I do not like the x in Xmas.:sorry. I know you meant no disrespect and I probably need therapy for this:crying4

We have good comedians in this site:thumbsup

Actually, I'm not always comfortable using 'Xmas' for 'Christmas'. Right from highschool we were taught how to use abrreviations (formula) for chemical names (H2 - Hydrogen, e.g). So my mind has been corrupted with it. Chemistry is a mess without them.

Example, I will write the musical:

Potassuim heptaoxodichromate (VI) and Disodium hydrogentetraoxophosphate (V) and Potassium tetraoxomanganete (VII) simply as K2Cr2O7 & Na2HPO4 & KMnO4 (where the figures are subscripts). It saves time and energy - no heartattack.

Therapy! My snoring aunt is home. She can help:lol
