Yea, I was going to talk with my boss about taking my car on some of these trips - I'm thinking against that now.

Here is what I did last Monday (the 7th): I bought a $100 gift Visa gift card and mailed it to his home with a note that said, "You deserve a good meal at a top notch restaurant, use this to buy yourself one." He will know who sent it, because I mailed it from my hometown. I sent it registered, certified, so once I get home, I'll know who signed for it. I took this precaution mainly because the gift was inside, and I wanted it to be traceable.

I've been away from home since the 7th. I will wrap up this project tomorrow and head home Wednesday - probaby won't travel again till the last monday July.
I'm moving this weekend... to a new place that will cost me 1/2 what the condo does.

Ok, things are pretty good with me. I go in front of a judge Wednesday the 3rd (his/her standard is for all accident-causers to appear in court.) So, I'm asking for prayer that this won't go TOO badly for me AND that I don't worry my heart back into atrial fibrillation.
But I have something else for you prayerful types to pray on - I have this co-worker, let's call him "Kurt" (cause that is his name ). Well, Kurt needs the Lord, but he does not THINK he does.
He is miserable, his marriage (of about 10 years) is not good at all, but he as an awesome dad to his 9 year old son. Seriously, he's a great dad to little Eric!
Well, I have made up my mind I'm going to pray for him every night from now on. But I'd like some help here - he is a good person, but he's totally without the Lord in his life.
He is one who I'm tempted to think that the Lord Himself cant even reach - let's put that to the test! Kurt is spending his days unhappy and kinda lost - well, he IS lost. Let's see if that can change!

Well, Kurt isn't saved yet -but I went to see the Judge - much ado 'bout nothing, as it turns out.
As to court - well, first, I never DID publish the letter in the paper, and the gift card I sent the other driver was "undeliverable". So, after court, I dropped off a replacement card and a copy of the letter at the corporate offices of the Concrete Company - telling them that if the other driver does not object, I will send it to the paper.
But before I went over there, I went to court...
I told my story to the prosecutor, (yes, if you get a ticket for an accident OR anything more than 20mph over the limit, in that county, you see the prosecutor and judge!)
Well, I told him about the letter I wanted to send to the paper (but didn't know if that was a good idea) and that I'd bought the guy a $100 gift card (referring to the other driver), I also told him how the guy responded well and saved my life - and he seemed impressed by my attitude and said, "I would have no issue with you sending that letter.." I took the fact that he did not tell me about any liability as advice that there is none or little involved here.
Now, a lawyer I called last month said "$300 or more in fines would be my guess".
Well, my fine was $205 - quite low if you ask me, given all the facts. Not sure if he reduced it after hearing my story or not, but I and one other lady got a $205 fine, all other fines were between $500 and $750 for various infractions.
THis is the final version of the letter, the other driver's office has a copy of it now, and is in possession of the gift card, so now I KNOW the guy will get it! ;) (And I told the office girl that if the other driver didn't want the letter published, that he should simply text me - if I have no text by Friday, I will submit the letter.)
TRUCK DRIVER SAVES A LIFE
As a local cement mixer truck driver left for work on the morning of June 30, 2014, he had no idea what was waiting for him on the roads of Cherokee County, Georgia.
As the northbound pickup truck approached the left turn to the onramp, the driver observed that there was a small traffic island at the end of the ramp, this was so that southbound traffic could turn right while northbound traffic turns left onto two lanes of the same ramp.
The driver also noticed the mixer truck traveling south, the trunk moved over into the right lane, which starts just about 300 feet north of the ramp. The driver of the pickup assumed that the mixer truck was moving over to turn right –so the pickup driver started his turn – but the cement truck was not turning. A collision was unavoidable and (since he was the only one who realized what was happening) it was up to the driver of the large and heavy cement truck to do what he could to control the consequences of what was about to happen.
As to the title above, the cement truck driver did not apply his brakes (you can't steer nearly as well with brakes applied as with no brakes applied), instead, he veered to his right – this meant that he kept control of his truck and did not strike the pickup squarely, running over it OR carrying it down the road, instead, the pickup was spun around. This was the small difference that meant life or death for the pickup driver. The full impact of the large truck hitting the smaller one was turned into a spinning action on the smaller truck. In fact, the only real g-forces on the pickup driver were from the deployment of the air bag. Had the smaller truck absorbed the full impact of the mixer, the accident would not have been survivable for the driver of the smaller vehicle.
The truck driver actually understood, well before the pickup driver did, what was going to happen and took measures to mitigate the damage.
After the collision, he cement truck continued on, but (apparently) the impact with the smaller truck had shifted the front axle of the mixer truck, causing the truck driver to lose control (heading into a ditch did not help matters), the truck overturned and came to rest on its side.
Had the truck driver panicked and applied brakes, it is questionable if he could have altered his trajectory enough to avoid a more dead-on impact with the pickup. This is what made the difference, all the difference.
The pickup truck driver was horrified and thought the other driver had to have been injured or worse, and commanded a bystander to "please go see how he is". Soon, the driver emerged from his cab uninjured. That driver was Ricky ####, the most calm and cool mixer operator that I, the driver of the pickup, have ever met. (And due to the work I do, I have known many mixer drivers in my career.) Had Mr. #### not responded exactly as he did, I do not believe I would have survived.
