Bevin instead called on Americans to "wake up," recognize that school shootings are a "cultural problem,” and to look at the “root causes.”

"Our culture is crumbling from within," he said.

Bevin said the desensitization to death and killing is coming at an "extraordinary price."

"We can't celebrate death in video games, celebrate death in TV shows, celebrate death in movies, celebrate death in musical lyrics and remove any sense of morality and sense of higher authority and then expect that things like this are not going to happen," he said.

preached a message tonight along with related subjects... we as a society have become numb to these events.. which is the exact plan of the devil . much like the frog in boiling water a gradual heating up till its to late. paul wrote in Romans knowing the time know is the time to wake up...

Now is the time to stand up and say enough is enough! It is time to start loving each other unconditionally as Christ loves and forgives us unconditionally, 1 John 4:7, 8. We as lazy Christians are to blame for what is happening in the world today. We have allowed Satan to rule over this world, not God. Quit blaming God for the problems when he is the one with the solution as we need to get back to that of proclaiming the Gospel to the world.

I think its social disintegration. people used to kill people they knew. I mean...that still happens...but these random shootings...its social disintegration, moral decay, lots of vulnerable people being pushed too far by social and economic circumstances. when I was a kid, they used to call it "going postal." now, when it happens, the media instantly starts w/ talk of "mental illness" and such.

sad to say it has just moved into our area 3 family members murdered mom dad stabbed to death and baby shot to death

Authorities say Samara Kitts and Harley Million were stabbed to death in their Wayne County home. 7 month old Willa Million was shot to death in Butler County where her parents’ bodies had been dumped.
A suspect is in custody—pending formal charges.

ugh. there was a school shooting here, locally. an angry teenager went to an elementary school. i think he killed one young girl and maybe a teacher (?). it was kind of big news for a little bit, but...you now how things go...soon there was another shooting, and another one.

I heard a radio show where they were discussing the MPAA, who reviews new films and issues ratings. Twenty years ago, there were 4 main trip-chords that triggered an R rating.
  • Violence
  • Nudity/sex
  • Prophanity
  • Ilicit drug use
In 2017, here's the new thin line. In spite of violence, profanity (with no more than 5 F-bombs), and drug use, a film is almost assured of a PG-13 rating. Sex and nudity is virtually the only content that draws an R rating, unless the others are blatantly extreme. Interesting.

I believe society will continue to decay unless God intervenes and/or returns, we can expect more moral degradation. My question is, what are we doing in our own spheres of influence to make a difference where we can?

interesting point, mike.

that lines up with some of the material I've read on witnessing and engaging the culture in an increasingly "post-Christian" world. social conditions were arguably worse when the NT was first written, but those early Christians persevered, anyway. I think there are overlaps, in some respects, between some of 21st century American culture and the fading, declining nations of yesteryear.
