Route pics

that is the original driftwood. she still stands. palms are gone. its expensive to stay there. once this was near woods and only near the riomar golf course and no utilities were on it. imagine a hot summer in that thing whilst on vacation.

It's amazing what we're willing to put up with under certain circumstances.

We're rather accustomed to central a/c for the hot, muggy summer days

oh I have more palm to post. we have a road that is named Royal Palm blvd and Royal Palm place. at the eastern end where a church is now is where they sold Royal Palms. I also have posted numerous homes on that very road. one of my favorite routes, old Spanish mansions and at ton of history that is as old as my county.

it has been said that the lot deeds have reference to the Spanish survey markers and the 1870s surveys. the later makes sense. that is when this county was settled.

Now that's something one won't find in Chicago!
just in that section. remember I wasn't kidding when I said up to the time of ww2 much of florida wasn't settled. I think I can post maps of my county where it says area not surveyed west of about ranch road.

Actually.......... the 2 photos of from the Western coast of mainland Scotland, and not all that far from Kyle of Lochalsh.
Really! I was thinking Mediterranean, too. So beautiful! No wonder you would like to live there, I hope you can.
Nah.... never lazy! You have learned how to simplify your life!
The internet saves so much time. The little library where I live leaves a lot to be desired. Just because their budget it small, they are dedicated and super people.

jasonc Wow, I got a couple days behind. All the pics are great and interesting. I love the old one with the cannons, too.
The orange house was different looking. I don't remember ever seeing one that was that narrow and a full two story. It looks funny.
The old plant looks so modern with all the big glass windows, not really like an old industrial building. A lot of neat things could be done with that building.
I'm enjoying the pics a lot. Thanks Jason

the narrow orange house was a barn. you can tell. I passed by its "twin" today and its still there. I will take a pic of that one tomorrow and post if I can do it safely. its on a dangerous part of old Dixie. the old power plant from the 20's was rather derelict when I was kid. honeslty it blew my mind when she said that it saved the day in the late 80's I remember when all the windows were broken and the paint was pealing off. yet it was actively used! I do remember the near black out. its been hard to get anyone to rent that as that land was contaminated/

that wasn't taken by me but by visitor to that place as he was just there this week. it hasn't really changed much. well that is now verified none of the old palms are there. I know that for sure.

Gorgeous!
thanks to mr john dean. he was asked to restore that to its current glory. its said he visited the Patio, and other places of Waldo's work to get inspiration and he pulled it off. I will not post pics of the patio.im saving that interesting restaurant along with the ocean grill for the days I go to do the routes. ah and Szechuan Palace too. Sexton used some odd stuff the canons are from a wreck and he uses really odd ball stuff. that is why John dean had to study him so that nothing would look odd in the restoration. you really cant tell

If someone bought it, it would probably cost a fortune to clean up from the contamination. It might not be in a very desirable location. I always hate to see neat buildings go to waste.
