I usually start most routes by locating one meter.seldom do we simply follow the machine.I have routes where I do. Those usually are the easy ones.

We don't usually follow the machine.it's usually easy because the way the utilities are set up and the street.I will post two routes where I do follow the machine one one and the other where I don't.

The Corona lane route ,I have not followed this perfectly but the order it is in useful.the two dots in the middle of the road are meter locations for a comcast.they and att meter.the first house Is on the east side .you enter in and turn on the first right and follow that road until it turns east.it's called White heron.Theres a meter I jump to as I park by it and then I follow the machine until it's see houses I can grab reads on the opposite side and streets.I can put squirly lines to show that.the dots are the last two reads I get .I could grab them first,but I don't.

How often do the readers (not the human) malfunction or not read properly?

The machine? Usually whatever read is imputed it takes it.sometimes we have weird ghost reads,or locate requests that show up on month then the next month it doesn't work.I have that problem on the piper route

That very water meter does have that locate issue. It's why I photographed it.I punch in to locate l 3 1 2840 then blue button then d .hit enter and in this case the note west is how I know I'm on it besides the w besides the number.last month it wouldn't let me so I photographed it and waited till I was done.the street name is listed to.

Ah....the challenges are with the actual meters.

The software issue. We don't have smart metering.my house does.I can post a photo of that thing and you can't tell the difference of it and ours besides the city of vero and fpl .all smart meters are digital. You can go out and read it.I have to verify a read.
