The timing was spot on.

I planned this a few weeks ago. My paper route ends near this area.of course it's never far for me to go to big blue.I took most of the photos after throwing my papers or after mma.I have plans to get the plant from the barber bridge ,round island and also the night time view.the mist trickiest as the lower lighting.

At least Big Blue will be well documented in photos!

Not as much I would like.did I mention the water cooling method for her ?

I still couldn't believe it .I knew the plant could pull in river water but I didn't think it was for a primary method.the cooling tower Is for 4,5, not units one to three.

Pulling in river water/lake water for cooling methods isn't unusual. Various power plants throughout Illinois are based at water sources for cooling purposes. (Always wondered how the exchanged water affected fish etc.....)

Draws manatees and fish.I caught my first fish on the hardly visible fences area on the left side close to the road.the fingers there .

I.need to post a few sunrises over the diesel plant.

That isn't good that the waters draw manatees and fish. Something should be done to correct that.
Manatees cant take the winter freezes also big blue is a shell now those stacks are cold and silent now and are testa ment to what was a glorious time .a new day for the city when she ran.imagine if I had posted a photo of big blue running and the sunrise you would see the steam rising .in my youth it ran for days ,and nights.it seldom shut down.

Meant to write: "That isn't good that the waters drew manatees and fish. Something should have been done to correct that."

Doesn't pay to get distracted while typing thoughts!

When I first looked at the photo, my mind went to Wyoming...

The clouds on the horizon on the right of the tower look like foothills/mesas..... made me think of mountains!

The top you have seen, while we will loose that bottom one it's the only one i have seen that has many of the features of a spanish revival edifice on one building.

It's slated for demolition the owner did try to repair it and perhaps he just felt he couldn't repair it and rent it at a reasonable price.

It's too bad the historical society didn't step up and take on this structure to save it.
