[__ Praise __] Salvation and redemption

John 3:19-21 "This is the verdict: Light has come into the world, but men loved darkness instead of light because their deeds were evil. Everyone who does evil hates the light, and will not come into the light for fear that his deeds will be exposed. But whoever lives by the truth comes into the light, so that it may be seen plainly that what he has done has been done through God."

Those who like to sin all they want, don't really want God. Redemption is for those who want to walk in holiness, those who want to live eternally with God in heaven.

You don't automatically get a free pass because you are born. There are those that want the light and those that love the darkness.

Isn't redemption something that should happen at birth if at all to ensure that we can sin all we want and still be saved?

Ephesians 1:13 "In whom ye also trusted, after that ye heard the word of truth, the good news of your salvation: in whom also after that ye believed, ye were sealed with that holy Spirit of promise,
1:14 Which is the earnest of our inheritance until the redemption of the purchased possession, unto the praise of his majesty."

If a person is truly saved (born from above) He/she is purchased by Jesus Christ by His Blood, and freed (Redeemed) from the practiced of sin. A redeemed child of Abba Father will not desire to sin all they want. If so? they are not biblically saved.

God loves each person, right where they are at.

It doesn’t matter what the sin, God is ready and willing to forgive and cleanse us of unrighteousness. To set us free from whatever bondage we are addicted to.

God loves each and every one of us dearly.

For the born again Christian, there is this undeniable straightforward truth, that will not just go away because we don’t like it, or don’t want to hear it.

His sheep do indeed wander away and become lost.

The 100 sheep belong to the shepherd.

They are his sheep.

“What man of you, having a hundred sheep, if he loses one of them, does not leave the ninety-nine in the wilderness, and go after the one which is lost until he finds it? And when he has found it, he lays it on his shoulders, rejoicing. And when he comes home, he calls together his friends and neighbors, saying to them, Rejoice with me, for I have found my sheep which was lost!’ I say to you that likewise there will be more joy in heaven over one sinner who repents than over ninety-nine just persons who need no repentance. Luke 15:4-7

  • What man of you, having a hundred sheep, if he loses one of them
  • Rejoice with me, for I have found my sheep which was lost!

Jesus uses the parable of the lost sheep to describe a reality among His people.

Jesus explains the parable of the sheep and correlates it to actual people in verse 7.

I say to you that likewise there will be more joy in heaven over one sinner who repents than over ninety-nine just persons who need no repentance.

A Christian who wanders away and becomes lost is no longer justified [declared right with God], and has returned to being a sinner in need of repentance, or remain lost.

Matthew's version shows us what Jesus taught about dealing with such a person, and in context shows us the principle of forgiveness and unforgiveness.

“What do you think? If a man has a hundred sheep, and one of them goes astray, does he not leave the ninety-nine and go to the mountains to seek the one that is straying? And if he should find it, assuredly, I say to you, he rejoices more over that sheep than over the ninety-nine that did not go astray. Even so it is not the will of your Father who is in heaven that one of these little ones should perish. “Moreover if your brother sins against you, go and tell him his fault between you and him alone. If he hears you, you have gained your brother. But if he will not hear, take with you one or two more, that by the mouth of two or three witnesses every word may be established.’ And if he refuses to hear them, tell it to the church. But if he refuses even to hear the church, let him be to you like a heathen and a tax collector. Matthew 18:12-17

If a man has a hundred sheep, and one of them goes astray, does he not leave the ninety-nine and go to the mountains to seek the one that is straying?

Jesus defines the steps to take, to go after a person who has sinned against you to get them to repent:

  • “Moreover [likewise] if your brother sins against you, go and tell him his fault between you and him alone.
  • If he hears you, you have gained your brother.
  • But if he will not hear, take with you one or two more, that by the mouth of two or three witnesses every word may be established.’
  • And if he refuses to hear them, tell it to the church. But if he refuses even to hear the church, let him be to you like a heathen and a tax collector.

James says it this way -

Brethren, if anyone among you wanders from the truth, and someone turns him back, let him know that he who turns a sinner from the error of his way will save a soul from death and cover a multitude of sins. James 5:19-20

  • Brethren, if anyone among you wanders from the truth
  • and someone turns him back
  • let him know that he who turns a sinner from the error of his way
  • will save a soul from death

Found = Reconciled to God: Justified - Declared to be right with God.

Lost = Seperated from God. Unjust. Unrighteous. A Sinner in need of repentance.

For one of His sheep to become lost, it must first belong to the Shepherd.

No, God has given us the free will to choose or deny him, there is no in between. We are not sinless beings. If we all were then Jesus Christ would not have a purpose. If there was no sin, Jesus would not have had to die upon the cross.

As God is a righteous and holy judge, he cannot let sin go on ignored.

Thank goodness for my sake He is also merciful and patient, drawing upon me and empowering me to do what is good and pleasing in His sight, every moment of everyday.

I have learned to stay close to Him, so that His rod and staff are a comfort to me.

No because sin harms God's children. Therefore sin must be eliminated.

God loves His children (those who accept Jesus) with an everlasting love. He will do what is best for us.

But as many as received Him, to them He gave the right to become children of God, to those who believe in His name: John 1:12 NKJV

He won't permit anyone to harm His children forever. Only those who love His sheep will be in heaven.

We know that we have passed from death to life, because we love the brethren. He who does not love his brother abides in death. 1 John 3:14 NKJV

Those who decide to continue harming His children (sinning) will not be allowed in heaven. Those who hate God and His children will never harm God's children again. Ever.

So true.

deal is...because of a fellow human (adam...and also eve, of course)...sin entered the world. thankfully, so did Jesus, for a brief time. His work on The Cross means that those who believe upon Him are washed and made clean, and live with Him for eternity in Heaven.

Honestly, I don't know how much I go for free will. Not that we're all robots or whatever, just...without Jesus, it seems that one is dealing with human nature+environment. I thought about this the other day, actually...social programs, for instance, buffer things, so you see less of the horrible side of human nature. Well...they don't "fix" anything, not really, and neither do false religions or false conversions. Jesus saves. Know Jesus, Know Change. And now...I'll move beyond bumper sticker catch phrases...

I lean towards God knowing who will come to Him. Maybe its as far as what Calvin theorized. I dunno, I'm not God. Thing is...

I learned this in a class once; HISTORY is really HIS-story, as in...at some level, human history (in particular...) is about God's work, sometimes fairly blatant, other times more subtle, in the lives of people (individually, and as whole groups, societies, etc.). At an individual level, a Christians' testimony is God's story...of the redemption and transformation of yet another individual, in and thru Christ Jesus.

OK. I'm finished... :)

Where would the love be ?
This reminds me of an argument I had with a girl on the first day I was born.
Sin
No, love.
Sin
Yellowbeard? No
Gold? No
Mr. Moon? No
Don Dokken: decadence
Ok
Bite Bite Bite! Profligacy
Oh, God.
I don't remember anything after that.

The thing about love - being redeemed from love makes no sense and being redeemed from sin prevents possession. Holy matrimony prevents possession too, but marriages can be defiled before you get there.
