1969 but here long before that.

so you were saying about metal? I was into energy, ki, auras. I know all about that but again it might influence but it will not make you sin. tempt it might but not make. that is akin to placing a baby image on a target shooting it an then saying if one uses this he will then kill a baby .

I'm not saying that at all, we have free will! And reason, and love within us too.

My distant relative psychiatrist said once when we were discussing guns/target shooting that, to picture ones enemies on targets at the range is a healthy outlet for pent up aggression & negative energy...

Funny ,death metal is the same.I used it for punching kicking drills.black sabbath or dio.led zeppelin. Yet I will say this .the army went from the bullseye used in ww2 to desensitize you taking a life.they use the e type sillouette or the ivan.you will react as trained more appropriately if you are realistic as possible.which makes my case.music death metal isn't training you to sin.you could listen to it and be not effected.I won't bur I know for everyone there is a sin struggle. Some avoid bars, others music, some even tv or newspapers. I know a man who will not read a newspaper.

It depends. All of the music videos I have posted have been secular, but the meanings are deep and are worship music to me towards Jesus.

My husband loves heavy metal. I don't like most of heavy metal and I was wondering why. I think spiritually heavy metal music brings you into your flesh, because of adrenaline. I'm not saying all heavy metal is evil. Just the feeling you have listening to it.
I really don't see how any secular music can be worshipful and I only agree about heavy metal if it is secular.

And yet many people who listen to metal also like classical.
There is an actual reason for this but I can't quite remember (something to do with the complexity of the music perhaps).

Yes, I think that is the reason. There are even classical instrumental only versions of Metallica songs. Made by classical artist I guess.

Does anyone know anything about the purported 'lost chord' of music??

The only thing I know about it, is that Moody Blues did a In search of the lost chord album, but read something saying that it was real, that there is a lost chord.

What's that about??
I played rhythm, primarily and used some really strange chords but I ain't never played with that lost one, I swear... I didn't do it boss!

I can see there being some amount of truth to this, possibly. I like hard rock and some metal, most of the time I'm going to be listening to it for pleasure.
That said, for me, music and what I get out of it is very, very much associated with it's message, especially the lyrics.
Here would be hard rock I listen to for pleasure. The song is Monster by Skillet. Skillet is a Christian band, it's quite often that their song has a touch of Christian messages to it.

On the other hand, Disciple (they are technically metal with softer songs in more recent years) is a band I listen to less for pleasure and more for worship intended purposes. I find this song very worshipful, for instance:
And this from a more recent album:
Most of their songs have lyrics like this.
These songs would probably repel me if I was out of God's will.

I really don't see how any secular music can be worshipful and I only agree about heavy metal if it is secular.
The following song is by the band Pearl Jam. He is talking about Jesus. This is an example of what I was talking about.

"Just Breathe"

Yes, I understand that every life must end, uh-huh
As we sit alone, I know someday we must go, uh-huh
Oh I'm a lucky man, to count on both hands the ones I love
Some folks just have one, yeah, others, they've got none

Stay with me...
Let's just breathe...

Practiced are my sins, never gonna let me win, uh-huh
Under everything, just another human being, uh-huh
I don't wanna hurt, there's so much in this world to make me bleed

Stay with me
You're all I see...

Did I say that I need you?
Did I say that I want you?
Oh, if I didn't I'm a fool you see
No one knows this more than me

As I come clean...

I wonder everyday, as I look upon your face, uh-huh
Everything you gave
And nothing you would take, oh no

Nothing you would take
Everything you gave...

Did I say that I need you?
Oh, did I say that I want you?
Oh, if I didn't I'm a fool you see
No one knows this more than me
And I come clean, ah...

Nothing you would take
Everything you gave
Hold me 'til I die
Meet you on the other side...

Well, my avatar probably makes it pretty clear that I do watch and listen to secular things.

If you ask me? The use of the word "secular" is unnecessary. There is just music. Music can have a Christian message or it can exist just for the joy of music or for the joy of something in life. Unless you want to argue that Canon in D is evil because it's not specifically Christian and therefore I should not play it on the piano? (I love Canon in D.)
Music with wrong messages and attitudes exist, too, and certainly those should be avoided. But a lot of music out there is harmless.

I walked down the aisle to Canon in D for my wedding. It touches the soul in my opinion.

What makes you think he is talking about Jesus? It is possible but he couldn't he also be talking about a close friend or woman?

The one part I know he is, cause no human doesn't ever "take" from another human. And Jesus gave everything.

Back in 1961 it was considered by most hard core Christians going to movies was a sin... or at least that doing so would lead to sinful behavior.
What my mom said to me was... Reba dont go see any movie you would not take Jesus with you to see...She went on how He lives in our hearts etc...
I do the same with the music ... nothing wrong with some music... nothing wrong with some movies..remember we take Him with us...:)

Now how can you decide what movie to see or not to see unless you've first seen the movie?

You ask the Lord like you're supposed to do. Be still and know that He is God...and listen for the urgings of the Spirit?

God uses heavy metal for His purposes. It can get Him into that house and the occupants listening where He otherwise could not because they don't like gospel music....

<insert movie name here> IMDB parents guide
Google it.

No more excuses for 'accidentally' seeing naked people, sex scenes, etc. in movies anymore.
What if I don't have a computer?
Serious question.
Without me, my wife doesn't even know how to turn the computer on.
No joke.

The truth is, lots of people rely on others for most of the information they obtain in life.
There's nothing like experiencing life instead of someone else experiencing it for you.
