Seven Year Covenant and Daniel’s 70 weeks

Seven Year Covenant and Daniel’s 70 weeks
I was able to find some info on this. Is it right? You judge for yourself. I do not always go by the facts that man comes up with. I go by what the Holy Spirit lets me see in God’s Word. I feel that the time and dates of future events and God’s word are not as important as the fact that God says these events will take place. It is not my place to question God’s timing of his plans. It is my place to trust God’s word that these things will take place at a time of his choosing. I believe God does not want us to read the calendar and watched the clock. God wants us to read his word and watch for the signs as Jesus tells us in Matthew 24.

I do know this with every fiber of body and mind that Jesus Christ’s return for His people is close at hand. The Earth also knows this. You can read Matt 24 and check out the news and see this too. I believe that God works in 3’s. Time of sorrows. Which started at the crucifixion of Jesus. Tribulations part 1. The breaking of the first seal. 1948 Israel becoming a State. Great Tribulations. The 6th seal. I believe what kicks this off is when the "abomination of desolation" stands in the "holy place," God's place.

This is what the Bible clearly reveals about the seventy weeks. From Daniel 9:24-27 was seventy weeks or 490 days beginning with Ezra, Ezra chapter 3-6, rebuilding the temple to the time of the Messiah (Jesus Christ) being fulfilled in His birth, death and resurrection. In a sense it was a literal and spiritual temple that was being built. Ezra was teaching the people of the spiritual temple of God that indwelled in all that believed in God and of the coming of Messiah. There was actually a five hundred year span from Ezra till the birth of Jesus that God shut himself off from Israel because of their transgressions towards the Lord, Malachi Chapter 4, but saved a remnant that would believe in the coming of Messiah, Isaiah 10. As still today, God still waits for National Israel to repent and believe in the name of Jesus as they still follow Judaism.

Daniel 9:24-27 the Vision of the Seventy Weeks

Vs. 24 this verse shows us that the timing from Ezra to the cross was 490 days (490 Prophetic years) as within that time Ezra was reestablishing the law in Jerusalem until Jesus had fulfilled the end of transgression, made an end to sin, made reconciliation for iniquity and bring everlasting righteousness and to seal up the prophecy to make an end to the law through the cross.

Vs. 25 from the time of the cross, which also means the last days, which includes what some like to separate and call “The Great Tribulation”, which is not mentioned anywhere in scripture and is not a separate event after the elect of God are caught up, but as the last days so we are in tribulation times until the end of the world as we know it, Acts 2:17; Hebrews 1:1,2; Matthew 24:4-31; Mark 13:24-31; Luke 21:5-36. These are just some of the scriptures that support that we will go through all things of Rev Chapter 6-21. Everyone will have opportunity to come unto salvation through Jesus Christ if they would only believe until the door of salvation is closed when Jesus calls us and we meet him in the clouds, which after this time no one can be saved, Matthew 25:10.

Vs.26 after 434 years that end in the year AD29 shall Messiah be cut off. Jesus was crucified after he was baptized in AD 29 three and a half years later. Jesus was cut off (killed) by the people of the prince, which means National Israel or other words the Pharisees, Sanhedrin and the high priest that destroy the city and the sanctuary (meaning Christ) and the end thereof shall be with a flood (Gods wrath) that will put an end to abominations by desolation or in other words a ruin to evil deeds. Daniel 9:27 explains the definitions of desolation of abominations or the ruin of evil deeds. There is no actual Desolations of Abominations where the so called Antichrist will take a literal throne, but the desolation will be when the son of perdition, being the false prophet, tries to take his throne in Jerusalem, Daniel 11:36-45. Gods’ word never defines one great Antichrist, but says there are many antichrists, 1John2:18; 11 Thessalonians 2:1-12; Revelation 11:7. The seven years that some call the seven year tribulation means three and a half years beginning with the first six seals being the beginning of sorrows (first woe). The last three and a half years starting with the (second woe) with the sounding of the first trumpet and ending with the seventh trumpet that includes everything else written in Revelations that includes the time of Christ return for His Bride in Rev 19, up to the end when Satan is cast into the lake of fire with the beast and the false prophet and ends with the new Jerusalem being ushered down as then we will be with the Lord forever.

Vs.27 the 70th seven began with Christ baptism in AD 29 and three years later at the end of the first half of the 70th seven sacrifices and offering ceased because Christ hung on the cross. From the giving of the law in 458BC when Ezra went to establish the law, or to rebuild the spiritual city right to the cross where the first 69 sevens. The 70th seven is from the time of the cross until Jesus comes back in the air to call his Bride home and for the overspreading of abominations he will make desolate, or make an end to all who would not believe.

Can you provide the scripture for this? We are still in the 70th of the seven as Christ has not yet returned.

“Seventy weeks are determined
For your people and for your holy city,
To finish the transgression,
To make an end of sins,
To make reconciliation for iniquity,
To bring in everlasting righteousness,
To seal up vision and prophecy,
And to anoint the Most Holy.

25 “Know therefore and understand,
That from the going forth of the command
To restore and build Jerusalem
Until Messiah the Prince,
There shall be seven weeks and sixty-two weeks;
The street shall be built again, and the wall,
Even in troublesome times.

26 “And after the sixty-two weeks
Messiah shall be cut off, but not for Himself;
And the people of the prince who is to come
Shall destroy the city and the sanctuary.
The end of it shall be with a flood,
And till the end of the war desolations are determined.

27 Then he shall confirm a covenant with many for one week;
But in the middle of the week
He shall bring an end to sacrifice and offering.
And on the wing of abominations shall be one who makes desolate,
Even until the consummation, which is determined,
Is poured out on the desolate.”
Daniel 9:24-27

Beginning at the beginning:

  • Seventy weeks are determined for your people and for your holy city

  • Know therefore and understand, that from the going forth of the command to restore and build Jerusalem

Let's start with the command in the bible that begins the 70 weeks time period -

Now in the first year of Cyrus king of Persia, that the word of the Lord by the mouth of Jeremiah might be fulfilled, the Lord stirred up the spirit of Cyrus king of Persia, so that he made a proclamation throughout all his kingdom, and also put it in writing, saying,

Thus says Cyrus king of Persia:
All the kingdoms of the earth the Lord God of heaven has given me. And He has commanded me to build Him a house at Jerusalem which is in Judah. 3 Who is among you of all His people? May his God be with him, and let him go up to Jerusalem which is in Judah, and build the house of the Lord God of Israel (He is God), which is in Jerusalem.
Ezra 1:1-3

Background -

The children of Israel are in captivity, from the time Nebuchadnezzar came to the land of Israel, to Jerusalem, to take captive the children of Israel and all the treasures of the Temple.

Since that time, Persia has taken over as the world governing empire, with Cyrus as king of the world, and the children of Israel are still in captivity, under his dominion.

Meanwhile, Daniel who served in the court of Nebuchadnezzar and is in captivity, is fasting and praying to God because he discovers from the "books" that Jeremiah who prophesied about this captivity, also wrote that it would be for 70 years.

In the first year of Darius the son of Ahasuerus, of the lineage of the Medes, who was made king over the realm of the Chaldeans— 2 in the first year of his reign I, Daniel, understood by the books the number of the years specified by the word of the Lord through Jeremiah the prophet, that He would accomplish seventy years in the desolations of Jerusalem. Daniel 9:1-2

Daniel receives the Vision of Seventy weeks from Gabriel -

20 Now while I was speaking, praying, and confessing my sin and the sin of my people Israel, and presenting my supplication before the Lord my God for the holy mountain of my God, 21 yes, while I was speaking in prayer, the man Gabriel, whom I had seen in the vision at the beginning, being caused to fly swiftly, reached me about the time of the evening offering. 22 And he informed me, and talked with me, and said, “O Daniel, I have now come forth to give you skill to understand. 23 At the beginning of your supplications the command went out, and I have come to tell you, for you are greatly beloved; therefore consider the matter, and understand the vision: 24 “Seventy weeks are determined for your people and for your holy city... Daniel 9:20-24

If we know from the beginning, that the focus is about Daniels people and his holy city of Jerusalem, it will help us to navigate through this prophecy with greater understanding.

Any comments?

Numbers 14:34
34 After the number of the days in which ye searched the land, even forty days, each day for a year, shall ye bear your iniquities, even forty years, and ye shall know my breach of promise.

Ezekiel 4:6
6 And when thou hast accomplished them, lie again on thy right side, and thou shalt bear the iniquity of the house of Judah forty days: I have appointed thee each day for a year.
Daniel 10:2-3 states Week represents a literal seven day period, no need in trying to apply Numbers and Ezekiel to the book of Daniel.

We know well Daniel didn't mourn and fast for 3X7=21 years :nono

The same Hebrew word (Shabuwa) is used in all instances of (week (s) in the book of Daniel.

God put Daniel 10:2-3 in the Holy Bible to show the truth of this teaching, and 70 weeks represent 490 literal (Future) days in Jerusalem.

Daniel 10:2-3KJV
2 In those days I Daniel was mourning three full weeks.
3 I ate no pleasant bread, neither came flesh nor wine in my mouth, neither did I anoint myself at all, till three whole weeks were fulfilled.

There will be a command by Israel to restore and build the wall and streets in Jerusalem, there will be 7 weeks of planning, 62 weeks of building, and Messiah will be cut off when the building stops, and the antichrist in the final literal week will make the covenant.

Keep your eyes and ears open, Jerusalem will have a command to rebuild Jerusalem, as they are going to build to the Messiah in the Old Testament, who they don't believe has come and gone, Jesus Christ.

Daniel 9:25-27KJV
25 Know therefore and understand, that from the going forth of the commandment to restore and to build Jerusalem unto the Messiah the Prince shall be seven weeks, and threescore and two weeks: the street shall be built again, and the wall, even in troublous times.
26 And after threescore and two weeks shall Messiah be cut off, but not for himself: and the people of the prince that shall come shall destroy the city and the sanctuary; and the end thereof shall be with a flood, and unto the end of the war desolations are determined.
27 And he shall confirm the covenant with many for one week: and in the midst of the week he shall cause the sacrifice and the oblation to cease, and for the overspreading of abominations he shall make it desolate, even until the consummation, and that determined shall be poured upon the desolate.

Below we see a parallel teaching of Daniel 9:25-27, as in verse 11 below the building is stopped, and world armies surround Jerusalem, as seen in verses 14-16 below, the remnant 144,000 are being fed Manna in the wilderness, just as in the days of coming out of Egypt, and the world will watch and be confounded, Revelation 12:6

Micah 7:11-17KJV
11 In the day that thy walls are to be built, in that day shall the decree be far removed.
12 In that day also he shall come even to thee from Assyria, and from the fortified cities, and from the fortress even to the river, and from sea to sea, and from mountain to mountain.
13 Notwithstanding the land shall be desolate because of them that dwell therein, for the fruit of their doings.
14 Feed thy people with thy rod, the flock of thine heritage, which dwell solitarily in the wood, in the midst of Carmel: let them feed in Bashan and Gilead, as in the days of old.
15 According to the days of thy coming out of the land of Egypt will I shew unto him marvellous things.
16 The nations shall see and be confounded at all their might: they shall lay their hand upon their mouth, their ears shall be deaf.
17 They shall lick the dust like a serpent, they shall move out of their holes like worms of the earth: they shall be afraid of the Lord our God, and shall fear because of thee.

In Love

Brother, do you understand how long it took to rebuild the Temple?

Here is what Daniel said -

Know therefore and understand,
That from the going forth of the command
To restore and build Jerusalem
Until Messiah the Prince,
There shall be seven weeks and sixty-two weeks; Daniel 9:25

From the time the command went forth to rebuild until Messiah the Prince is 69 weeks.

By the time Jesus came on the scene, the temple and city was rebuilt.

According to you, this work of rebuilding the temple and city took 1 year 4 months.

Here is how long the Bible says it took to rebuild the temple.

Then the Jews said, “It has taken forty-six years to build this temple, and will You raise it up in three days?” John 2:20.

  • It has taken forty-six years to build this temple,

We can certainly rule out your theory of the 70 weeks being 70 weeks of days.

It was 483 years not days from the going forth of the command to restore and build Jerusalem until Messiah the Prince.

Which doesn’t include the pause, between the 7 weeks and 62 weeks, when the work was halted.

Can you provide the scripture that teaches 70 weeks equals 490 years?

The book of Daniel clearly teaches the 70 weeks represent 490 literal days.

Dan 9:24 Seventy weeks are determined upon thy people and upon thy holy city, to finish the transgression, and to make an end of sins, and to make reconciliation for iniquity, and to bring in everlasting righteousness, and to seal up the vision and prophecy, and to anoint the most Holy. (Prophecy of coming Messiah)

A Day Equals One Year

The 70 week prophecy of Daniel 9:24, however, establishes a principle related to prophetic time that few completely understand. Virtually everyone acknowledges that the 70 weeks are not literally 70 weeks, but rather 70 weeks of years, or 490 years. The principle is that in Bible prophecy, you must substitute a period of a year in place of a day. This is the day=year principle. This equation is clearly established in scripture-

Numbers 14:34 after the number of the days in which ye searched the land, even forty days, each day for a year, shall ye bear your iniquities, even forty years, and ye shall know my breach of promise.

In this verse, a relationship between day and year is clear, each day will equate to a literal year. For the forty days that Israel spied in Canaan in unbelief, they would be punished by wandering forty years in the desert.

Ezekiel 4:6 and when thou hast accomplished them, lie again on thy right side, and thou shalt bear the iniquity of the house of Judah forty days: I have appointed thee each day for a year.

Here again, the equation is stated quite openly, a prophetic day represents a literal year. So to return to the 70 weeks of Daniel, you must first determine the number of days represented. Seventy weeks is 70 x 7 or 490 days, which will then equate to a literal 490 years in the fulfillment of the prophecy.

Daniel 10:2-3 states Week represents a literal seven day period, no need in trying to apply Numbers and Ezekiel to the book of Daniel.

In Love

Daniel 10:2,3 has nothing to do with the prophecy of the 70 weeks as this is about a literal three week fast he went on after receiving and understanding the 70 weeks.

Daniel 10:1 In the third year of Cyrus king of Persia a thing was revealed unto Daniel, whose name was called Belteshazzar; and the thing was true, but the time appointed was long: and he understood the thing, and had understanding of the vision. 2 In those days I Daniel was mourning three full weeks. 3 I ate no pleasant bread, neither came flesh nor wine in my mouth, neither did I anoint myself at all, till three whole weeks were fulfilled
