should a woman actively own a church?

when the anti-slavery movement began gaining serious traction in the US, some people compared the state of southern slaves to so-called "wage slaves" up north, and came to the conclusion that, hey, at least the southern slaves were generally taken care of in a paternalistic fashion. the wage slaves up north often lived in abject misery, too.

Sometimes, I don't think things are that different for a lot of people, both here in the US and abroad. Capitalism --does-- help, but it also creates a few winners and a lot of losers, at least in the beginning stages, and without government intervention.
Er, is this post in the right thread?

I think a lot of black churches came out of this, and a few are steeped in capitalism.

I'm fairly left wing and all, but I don't go for women as ministers and such. I just don't think The Bible supports it, and on a practical level, I don't think it plays out well, either.

In Romans 16:7; Junia is spoken of by Paul as being great among the Apostles.
Though she may not have been an elder, she certainly was something.
My guess is evangelism.
Which is preaching the Gospel.
Apostles went everywhere and spoke the Word of God.
Whatever it was that made her great, it had to be with leadership skills.

i dont think its a good idea. I think God's plan for men and women in the church is to complement one another, with men doing more traditionally masculine things (leading, for instance) and women doing more traditionally feminine, supportive roles.

Lol, yeah, like knitting.

Such fun to just say NO!
But there must be a serious reason.
I don't think it's a good idea because is women's temperament.
Last I heard we are up to 86 million abortions in this country since 1973.

So give or take a few woman pastors here or there, I think there are more important issues to be concerned with.

I agree.
But if you only consider the big problems, you never get to the other ones.
But I respect if you don't care to discuss.

Wondering

Ah yes, the big issue of a woman being a spiritual leader over a man.
What must we say about such a thing?

Here's a church converted into a home.
Not bad.

It's more of an issue between the difference between men and women.
Many things may have changed from the time of Paul.
But human nature remains the same.
Women must raise families. They tend to be protective and on the defence AND offense.
They're more envious than men and more suspicious. They read more into what may be said than what is meant because of this.
In general, I don't believe women are cut out for management roles.
