Should Christians follow Doctor's orders? Is it BIblical?

^

Absolutely not !
We should reject every order of the doctor after wasting our money consulting them !

... :toofunny ........ :screwloose ......... :poke

You should only follow your doctor's orders if you were so inclined to go to one to begin with. :D But that only applies to the malady at hand such as something substantial such as a bad respiratory infection. Doctors are good at finding "high numbers" illnesses and such virtual illnesses however. You're cholesterol is too high, your blood pressure is too high, your sugar is too high, etc, etc and then you tell him (or her) you are feeling quite fine. But then they have to convince you are at death's door and that you have to take this pill for the rest of your life. And thus, you then embark on the (remaining) lifelong journey of being taken care of like a kid who has to be told what to do, not to mention wasting countless hours every week or month for them to check up on you when you could be having fun in life. Seriously, if lack of fun kills someone, then doctors' patients have an earlier death rate, and I believe that's actually statistically true as none of the numbers medicines makes one live any longer.

I hear you.

Yes, Christians should listen to their doctors.

God has given them the ability to help his children, so that his children can praise Him and spread His Word.

Doctors have spent a lot of years studying medicine and know a lot more about this topic than you do, so it's a good idea to follow their orders, 'cause they mostly know what they're talking about.

My doctor is a Christian. He always orders me to trust in the Lord for healing.

So yeah .... I always follows doctors' orders ! ....... :biglol

I haven't visited him a for a long , long time ..... Hope he still has his business .....

I agree with Nick, however, not all doctors are trustworthy.

For example, my husband is still dealing with leg problems after a car accident several years ago. His dr said "loose weight" but it's hard for him because he can't do anything high-impact or high-stress. So instead of giving alternatives, he sent him out the door. We have since made an appt. with a new dr.

I'm struggling with following dr's orders...

I have heart disease with an aortic root aneurysm measuring 4.1 cm. @ 4.5 they may want to operate and perform open heart surgery simply due to it's location since the tissue disorder starts in the valve and creeps into the artery which is the cause of the aneurysm. As a result, I was told not to get my heart rate above 160 because the increase in blood pressure could rupture the aneurysm. Last Thursday I was at 195 bpm... However, I've read story after story about people @ 5 + cm running triathlons. Note: I will not lift weights as heavy lifting skyrockets the blood pressure.

I have prayed for healing, yet my MRI from last week still shows the aneurysm, although I do not know the measurement until the reports come back. I still believe that God is watching over me and has the power to keep me safe.

As far as following the Dr's orders on medication, I think it's fair to say that yes, they do know a lot about our bodies, but in the same breath, we also have to realize that they are in business with the pharmaceutical companies which are sanctioned and regulated by our government in hand with the insurance industry.

10 years ago my mother had a major stroke and my brother found her lying on the floor half dead wheezing. Her arteries were 85% blocked and the dr's told her that if she didn't have surgery withing 6 months, she'd be dead by 9. My mother refused the surgery. Knowing that she was going to die and realizing that the medication the dr's had given her didn't make her better and often made her feel worse, she rejected the dr's medication and my brother started giving her natural remedies. For example, when she would feel pain, the dr's ordered nitro glycerin but instead, she took high doses of pure Niacin which naturally opens the arteries. To clean her arteries, she took high doses of Absorbic Acid (Vitamin C) accompanied by high doeses L Lysine. She also purchased food grade hydrogen peroxide and soaked in hydrogen peroxide baths three times a day to force more oxygen into her blood through her skin and amazingly, her hair also went from grey back to brown. She also took a few other home brew remedies, but I can't remember them.

On one of her checkups the dr said, "Wow, she's recovering fantastic! The medication is working wonderful!".. My brother said, "She hasn't been on your medication in three months." The dr. said, "You can't tell me that... but keep doing what your doing." and left it at that.

I'm not telling anyone to disregard the dr.s orders and not take their medication. I"m simply sharing the path my mother went down almost 10 years ago... and she still has not had surgery.

Amen. There are so many better things you can do for yourself naturally. For example, when my husband or I have a hard time sleeping, we don't take sleeping pills, instead, we spray the linens with a lavender linen spray I made using essential oils. Another good thing is when you feel a urinary tract infection (women are more prone than men and I get them a LOT) you can drink cranberry juice like there's no tomorrow. I don't like cranberry juice, so I take cranberry extract pills. I don't always believe in traditional medicine when there is a natural way of doing things. But you must be carefull also when going natural. For example, if a pregnant woman takes blue cohosh, she could lose the baby since it induces a miscarriage.

There is a reason why life expectancies have doubled in the last hundred or so years, and it's not because of the praying.

I think it varies on the situation. As for me and my family we don't believe in prescription drugs. We don't even use Tylenol on our kids or ourselves. Our thing is God put everything here on the earth for a reason. I don't agree that doctors know more about our bodies. I think they are good to sometimes detect things that we might not be able to on our own, but if we weren't trained from when we are so young to cover up the symptoms that we get. Instead we should focus on what is causing our symptoms sometimes it can easily be done by diet change or even making small changes in our life styles.

I know there are some people that have to be on prescription medicine for their thyroid for the rest of their lives, but to me doctors want to control your health and if you disagree with their methods you are in the wrong. They assume too many times that you don't know what you are talking about. We don't have to do what doctors tell us to do or take. It should be a recommendation not an order.

Suppose they prescribe a pill with known side effects or prescribe birthcontrol to a woman who does not believe in using birth control?

In order to receive doctor's orders to follow, one would have had to to go to the doctor first. Why would one go to the doctor in the first place if they weren't going to follow the doctor's orders? Why wouldn't it be biblical? I don't remember any scripture saying it was a sin for going to the doctor.

I can answer that. If a person is like me, they only go to get a (hopefully) accurate diagnosis as to what is wrong. For example, I was diagnosed with GERD (from a hernia there) and reflux. But its the treatment I basically differ with. I rather go natural instead of "here's an expensive pill you'll have to take for the rest of your life to prevent such dangerous ulcers". NO, I dumped them down the toilet, and then I could approach it from a nutritional aspect, which BTW, I was horribly slacking off on proper eating and vitamin taking. As soon as I got back to that, then I was much better. Knowing what one has helps in treating the issue. For example, I was told that I DON'T have celiac diasease, but I took the hint to eat less refined breads and so-called grains anyway in favor of a lot of eggs, more meat, fruits and vegetables. They told me to stay away from onions. Heck, I eat more onions and I credit that in helping my stomach---- there is not a day that goes by without my eating onions.

So, that's an excellent example of my going to the doctor, but not following orders. I just used them for their high-tech equipment so that I know where I stand and what to do about it on my own. Drugs never cured or extended life, or I should say, not extended it with quality.

I'm glad you were able to be helped by lifestyle and diet changes, but there are many illnesses that can't; Diabetes A springs to mind. As far as drugs never extending life, what about cancer? There are people in my family who would be dead if not for medicine.

I don't know much about diabetes A, but I know that is the rarer form of it, and the "drug" of choice is usually insulin? However, that is, or at least is based on the body's natural production of it that for whatever reason the person is incapable of making, same concept with thyroid medicine and other glandular stuff--- it's already a type of "supplement" if you will.

Cancer is another story. I am of the belief that if I ever got it, that is basically a death sentence. Chemo only extends life a little, and an extremely poor quality at that (I could never figure out why they would torment a person to go thru such stuff to live, say and extra 2 months). For the cancers chemo usually does "cure" the types caught early enough, one finds that later in life they are plagued with more cancer far more aggressive. The solution to cancer is the same as with heart disease--- antioxidants. Vitamins A, C, D3 ( a form of cholesterol), E, Selenium, etc. less sugary and refined stuff and more fruits, vegetables, fats of all kinds and yes, even cholesterol which is a powerful antioxidant that protects the heart. That is a diet basically like mine involving salads everyday, fruits, meats, eggs (I go thru a dozen a week or so).

One word of caution--- I don't go fully organic yet, although I get a lot of my eggs from our farming family out here that raises their own chickens, and we grow a lot of our own vegetables in the summer. :D If meat and eggs are "bad" rest assured it's the hormones and stuff they feed the animals, not the products per se. That's were the vitamins come in. It's impossible to keep all the bad out--- my philosophy is to flood the body with enough good stuff that hopefully it can fight the bad off---- the body is an amazing filter.

There are lots of things on the market for cancer. Cancer is only free radicals in our body which is damaged cells. To repair it you take antioxidants. Our bodies tell us something is wrong way before we get to that point. But by covering it up and keeping toxins in our body then we are basically telling our body to shut up every time we take the pill they give us. When we have pain our body is saying something isn't lined up right.

Yes Diabetes A there really isn't much you can do. It's just one of those things that the devil put here. I personally don't know much that you can do for Diabetes A. Maybe someday something will be found.

keeping toxins in our body then we are basically telling our body to shut up every time we take the pill they give us.

And speaking of toxins, it is healthy to expel more often if you know what I mean. 2 -3 times daily for me is normal. I never understood how some people can go a whole week! I'd be in dire pain! :D I'm 50 years old, soon to be 51 and in perfect health with no meds (nor will I take any even if doctors have to drum up an excuse why I "need" them) I lean on nobody or nothing, save the Lord and the natural stuff He gave.

I don't like cranberry juice, so I take cranberry extract pills. I don't always believe in traditional medicine when there is a natural way of doing things.

I wouldn't say always do this, for some women it can spread extremely fast in a short amount of time and get into their kidneys which will send them to the hospital. It's definitely not something I would mess around with.
