I have seen some very bad comments towards people of color in the last couple of days. And now this dumb comment. Let me tell you something people of color do no more crime than all other people, it gets real inflated when you just focus on us and the inner cities. Justice for us in this country is still way off. In many cases a white person can do a crime, and then a black person can do the same crime and in many cases the whites will walk. And don't nobody stand up here and tell me that it does not happen. I read a book in 1996 or 97 by Bruce Wright, called Black Robes White Justice, he was a New York city judge, and the things he saw and went through was jaw dropping. He would sometimes just sit in other court rooms while he was a judge and just witness people of color going to jail for the same crime that the white guy in the case before him just walked out of the court room free on. Here in Philadelphia I have seen it, for myself. So don't hand me that garbage you are trying to hand me. All colors of men kill, steal, lie, cheat, rage war, and turn their backs on God. I still see the door being slammed in my face in the job market even though I qualify. I am real sick of this color of the skin stuff, it is stupid and ignorant. All people come from the same God Adam and Eve, but these fools find reasons to dislike each other. God does not honor a Christian who dislikes people because they have another skin color. And that shoe shine boy comment was way out of line, that I saw last night. When I was coming up I remember people of color being called that. No man has the right to put himself on top of another, or think that the other is less than just because of the color of his skin. and if you do think so you are a fool. And if those hurtful comments keep coming you won't be here.
I think I will respectfully drop out of this discussion as it has moved away from a Christian discussion and into a gun control debate even drawing me into it as well.
Before I go, I'll go back to the original question. I don't think being a Christian has much bearing at all on the question. A gun is nothing more than a tool. A gun is only dangerous in the hands of someone that does not give it respect or use it safely. A gun sitting on a table is no more dangerous than a rock sitting on a table.
This is true with so many other tools that we employ every day. Is it Christian to own a knife, sword, baseball bat, or any other tool that could inflict harm? I think the real question is what attitude is appropriate for a Christian to have with regard to firearms? Even more importantly, what is the Christian attitude about killing another human being regardless of the means?
I believe there is an appropriate time to use deadly force. I believe that it is appropriate to use deadly force in defense of myself or another.
