Should Christians listen to the Beatles?

EVERYONE should listen to the Beatles. I'm listening to them right now, actually. They're arguably the most influential band of the twentieth century... how could you not listen to them? It's beautiful music with insightful lyrics... my favorite kind :)

As far as Christians go, you can do much, much worse than the Beatles!

The question is WHY would you listen to them. Their music pre-1965 was good. The late sixties stuff leaves much to be desired musically. I'm not sure how a band goes from 'Hard Days Night' and 'I Want to Hold Your Hand' which made them the world sensation they were, to LSD drenched, nonsensical hippie crap like 'Come Together' and 'Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band'?

I'm sure hard core music/Beatles fans will attack me for it but it's the truth as I see it.

Come on now... Come Together's got a great social message, and Sgt. Pepper has a charismatic quality unmatched by any of today's pop or rock. Granted, the music they made while on LSD focused more on beautiful melodies than insightful lyrics, but they certainly succeeded. Lucy in the Sky with Diamonds is a great example of that. If you just read the lyrics, you'll be reading about an acid trip. Listen to the song, though, and it takes you on one.

I won't attack you, because I like you. :lol

But, I can metion many many songs post 1965 that are extremely worthy.

While My Guitar Gently Weeps (that's actually Clapton on lead guitar)
Rocky Raccoon
Martha
Something
Back in the U.S.S.R.
I Will
Oh! Darling
Here Comes the Sun
She's Leaving Home
When I'm Sixty-Four
Taxman
Eleanor Rigby
Here, There and Everywhere
Good Day Sunshine
Got to Get You into My Life
Hey Jude
Mother Nature's Son

:D

Man I have most of the Beatles stuff, and the Holy Ghost has not told me don't listen to them, I took a lot of LSD in my day, I am not promoting the stuff, but it sure makes you creative musically, because it makes you more sensitive to sounds, colors and your surroundings, besides for fun, it was one of the reasons, why we took the stuff, if you were a musician. And I will say again I am not promoting the stuff, just speaking a truth. Half of all musicians back then tried the stuff, and some used it to come up with ideas for music. And that is the truth. I think the Beatles made great music, from around 1963 to 1970 when they broke up. I know in high school we would take the stuff and jam, so it was just a part of the time, that has come and gone, and thank God for that. But in no way did it make their creativity go down, it took them in another direction, and that music still sounds great, just ask billions of people.

They're by far the greatest band of all time.

There are a few drug references here and there but Lennon will increase your moral understanding 50 fold.

Depends how fundie you are.

Their pre-1965 stuff was mostly forgettable. The rest of it was incredibly amazing. You cannot beat it.

Sgt. Pepper is by most sources the greatest album of all time, including me :D

It's in the nature of good musicians to change. They were just developing as artists.

Only you can answer that question. Do you feel bad when you listen to them? Or, does it really not bother you and you want to do the right thing? Well... I know the satanic agenda that is in today's secular music but I still like the catchy tunes on the radio. It doesn't brainwash me because, since I have been reborn through Jesus, my eyes are open to that deception. I can just enjoy the song.

With that said, OF COURSE YOU CAN! My son's father is extremely close with Jesus and we named our son after John Lennon. It's really up to you.

Promotion of drug usage, Lennon with his Do What Thy Wilt, having Crowley's face on Sgt. Pepper album cover. Comments such as "We are bigger than Jesus."
I personally wouldn't subscribe to their music. My dad listened to all that stuff in the 70's when I was small. Them and Zepplin, I can't tolerate either band.

I disagree, on the Secular side Queen has outsold the Beatles. But let's look at the band Petra, the only Christian band to be still around after 40 yrs. to me Petra is the greatest band of all time. Praise God or acid trips. I guess it is to each their own.

My dad even likes the Beatles (probably certain songs), and he's a bit more strict with his music choices than I am. Their music is from around the time he was growing up in.

short answer...yyyes. i think love and good times is something we can all agree on, christianity and freemasonic luciferianism(or whatever)aside. lol

NO they should listen to :guitar ELVIS
You bumped up this topic for that shameless plug? :biglol

I understand but was not put off by his "We're more popular than Jesus now" statement.

I'm more put off by the lyrics of the songs "Imagine" and "God."
