Only kidding... given the question is in regards self defense, I imagine most of us wouldn't have the time nor the inclination to start "bible-flicking" when under attack. . Who cares whether it's a pure form of matial art? Hey, I'd be hitting below the belt if needed. I think "flight or fight" instinct would just kick-in.
Given our stringent anti-gun-laws in Australia and low amount of gun-related deaths and crime, the above comments don't mean I support carrying a gun, or any other weapon for that matter. (ready for the flak for that comment)
Absolutely! Do you have a conceled carry license? Do you take karate?

All of the above. However, I think the CPL isn't good in most east coast states now that I've moved from the mid west (darn commies out here!)
I've been out of organized martial arts for years but I've taken an interest Krav Maga.

Two very different aspects of martial arts. Tai chi is non-combative, judo is very physically demanding and hard on the body. I'm getting back into it since I completely tore my acl last year at a judo tournament and had reconstructive surgery.
Judo = being elevated and slammed frequently as you progress, lol. Go for it Dave!!
I like BJJ(Brazillian JuJitsu) as well.
I've NEVER seen tai chi used effectively. I've seen most other arts used effectively in real life as well as competetion.
