Men do not usurp authority over women, for it is the men that hold spiritual authority over the women in the churches.

There is no command for men to submit to women!

evanman,

Wake up and smell the 21st century! Do you realy think men have spiritual authorty over women? Jesus had many women deciples who he taught right with the men. He treated all people with the same respect, take a hint ![/b]

In my honest opinion, Women can teach if they are really led by the Holy Spirit of God. God has used Women equally like Men right from the Old Testament days.

As for usurping authority is concerned, even men have no right to usurp authority over women for they are joint-heirs and equals in the sight of God.

I deeply appreciate greyfeathers reply.

:D I agree vinc!

Having women being taught alongside the men is not quite true.

His Apostles were ALL men, the were personally instructed by Him.

Then He taught men and women together. Jesus--being a man, was in spiritual authority over those that He taught.

21st Century huh? The century of Abrtion on demand, the century of the move towards global tyrrany.

Better get shut of the Bible all together then, such an old and out of date book!

Should Women Preach

Jesus is the only one that holds spirital authority over me .

It sure isn't any men of this world!!

God bless you.

We are to submit to those who have authority over us--Jesus said so.

If you don't accept this you are not under Christ's authority!

should a women teach

Why is it that you presum because I say Jesus has spiritual authorty over me , but not any men of this world, that I am some how not good enough?
I have had it? You think because I say this that your better then me and know all there is to know about God. No one is that good.!!

Religions were designed by men that is obviously to keep women in their place. In the old days that may have worked, but we no longer have to be silent in church. We are just as able to understand the scriptures as men are.

Don't you know when you put someone down you could turn them away from religion?? Or are you so self absorbed in yourself that you don't care?

Here read maybe it will help.

:smt035 Women should teach, and they should do it often!
Besides, there are plenty of former atheists that love women
teachers,amen.
You go greyfeather, and teach the gospel to all the world!!!

I hope that what I say and do WILL turn people Off from mere "religion".

Religiosity has been the bane of God's people since Cain tried to please God by offering some of his harvest to God thinking that by doing this he would be honoured as his brother Abel had been.

Why is it that you presum because I say Jesus has spiritual authorty over me , but not any men of this world, that I am some how not good enough?

I do not think I am better than any one, why should I, I am a sinner saved by Grace. We are told by jesus Christ and the Apostl's to be in submission to people.

Wives are to be in submission to their own husbands, children are to be in submission to their parents, we must submit to civil authorities, to say that a person ONLY submits to Jesus Christ reveals much about a person's atitude and lpoints to a lack of humility.

Religions were designed by men that is obviously to keep women in their place.

This is a generalisation that is incorrect, for quite a number of religious movements throughout world history were founded, led and administered by women.

The Shakers, Christian Science, Theosophy, Brama Kumaris to name but a few.

We are just as able to understand the scriptures as men are.

Then what does this scripture mean?
1Pe 3:5 For after this manner in the old time the holy women also, who trusted in God, adorned themselves, being in subjection unto their own husbands:
6 Even as Sara obeyed Abraham, calling him lord: whose daughters ye are, as long as ye do well, and are not afraid with any amazement.

evanman,

You say Religion is a bane on gods people? Well Christianity is a religion so are you saying that it is not a good thing? I truly hope not :o

You say wives should be in submission to thier husband's. So if the husband is abusive to his wife is she to just keep on being in submission to him?
You say children are to be submissive to their parents. Does this include parents who abuse their children?
You say that we need to submit to civil authority, actualy it says we are to submit ourselves to every ordinance of man. So this is all like for instance judges on state or federal level. Yep they did a great job , they rule to have school prayer removed from the classroom, they rule that its ok to have abortions, they have ruled that the ten comandments of God cannot be displayed outside any state or government building. These are the people you say we all should submit to? If it goes against God , you are you still saying we are to submit to them?

The verse you gave me: it says women of old time were under subjetion to their husbands. Now subjection means>> To bring under domination and control. I am not living 1000's of years ago. How many woman call their husbands lord in these times??
Point being we live differently now then back 1000's of years ago. I belive a women should love, respect, and cherish her husband, but the husbands should do the same with their wives.

May God be with you and keep you in all you do.

Christ is above all, including "christianity". We are to follow Christ, not the "Christian Religion".

I do not say that wives are to be in submission to theior husband--GOD does!

I do not say children are to submit to their parents--GOD does.

I do not say that we are to be in submission to Civil Authorities--GOD does!

Your argument is not with me it is with God!

should women teach

Hello,
This issue has been a hot button issue, especially with women.

How many women are mentioned in the bible, and what were their duties? There are many examples throughout scripture for all principles, and aspects of our lives.
I guess the first woman who was of any rank was Mariam, Moses sister. What did she do?
Then there was Deborah, now she was a Judge. She judged all Israel. She also was a prophetess Judges 4:4. A Judge was a very important position to hold.
Then we have Ruth, and after her is Ester the Queen whom God used to save His people.
There are not many women in high places throughout the bible but nonetheless they are there.
In the new testament we read about Dorcas, and Phillip's 4 daughters who were prophetesses. Acts 21:9 kjv. And many more.

The whole principle behind the statement by Paul is the fact that women are not to usurp authority over the man. God chose men as elders to be the leaders in His church, with Jesus at the head. This is clearly seen throughout scripture. When women are needed as deconesses, or to give testimonies what is the problem? But when they try to be ordained as elders because men ar and ERA and all that, well wher does pride start and necessity end?

Should women preach

All this started because I said that I thought if a women preahed the word of God, and it led to any accepting Jesus as their savior, and there by his or her soul is saved do you realy think God would be angry with her. My anserw was no.

I don't think it has anything to do with women being prideful,I feel that women who feel they are called to teach do it because of the love that God has shown them by giving his only begotten son Jesus, and they want to spread this message to.

I will conceed though that not all women preachers or men preachers for that matter are realy preaching the way they ought too. That is why people need to read the Bible and if something dosen't sound right that has been preached by a man or women then they need to pray for God's guidence.

May God show us the way in all things.

The debate was caused by the statement "Should women teach?!

No one is disputing that women can announce the Gospel, or prophesy, or even teach, perse. The scriptures speak concerning women not teaching or usurping authority over men!

should women teach

Yes that was the topic. I feel the same now as I did when I first posted. You know all people don't feel the same on all things And thats ok, I thought we were debating , you thought I was argueing.

If I have said anything to make you feel angry towards me I am sorry. Sometimes when people get into a debate emotions run high. I guess its best said this way people agree to disagree, but I know that you are a good person I have read some of your other posts. Belive it or not I'm not that bad, I try to be the best person I can be. I am far from perfect but I learn each day and I do truly belive in God and I have recieved the Lord Jesus as my Savior.

May God watch and keep you all of your days.

I did not mean to cause you any personal harm, my response is purely with what people state not a slight on them as individuals.

Who gives the men authority to teach?

The same person that gave authority to Pilate, Herod, hitler, Henry VIII, atc---GOD!

should women teach

No harm done , after reading some things I have decided I learned some things from you. You are very point blank I will say that , but you say what you belive. I hope to learn more from reading some more of your other posts on other topics you sure have alot! It may take me awhile, but I will get through them. I came here to learn and share.

God bless and keep you in all you do.

Ningun problema.

We all learn., yes even me.

I am very forthright, I didn't used to be, in the past I wouldn't say boo to a goose! I am reminded of Paul's words in 2 Co chapter 7.
