  • Focus on the Family

    Strengthening families through biblical principles.

Focus on the Family addresses the use of biblical principles in parenting and marriage to strengthen the family.

I met two other women yesterday and because I did not care they kept asking for me and wanted me to party with them. But I went to sleep i was not interested in them even they were attractive. That's how it works.

I would rather go to church. I'm actually going to go church today because I think it's the best thing for me.
Yeah...
But the key point you are missing out on is that you are a Unicorn.

You are a mature, single, Christian man.

Churches today are literally filled with single women. Sure there are families and couples there...but also a huge demographic of single women looking for a man.

Our Children's minister has been a widower for two years now.
The women barely allowed him to get his wife buried before they started coming after him...I said "poor guy". Because I knew what was coming for him.
I think that he has picked one out for the moment to date. But he's keeping it subtle and really lighthearted...as if he really doesn't care because he doesn't. She ain't. She has marked her turf and threatened all others about coming near.
When going after guys over 50 the old standby of flirting with body parts ain't gonna cut it.

Women get sucked in by players. The fake who makes them laugh, pretends to care for them, and goes with the flow having a good time but talks behind there back. Woman like that. They don't want a serious guy who looks out for them and is protective.
Players gonna play only when they love you ..Stevie nicks

I remember those days . if I'm a widow or divorced I wouldn't play their game .too old

There are, in my opinion, too many generalizations, negative ones at that, about the character of women in this thread. Admittedly I haven't dated in forty years. But three of my sons did meet women who became their wives. Those were women of character and not shallow plotting flirters. And my daughter conducted herself in a way that demonstrated self respect. And I see that in many women within the circles I go in.

Whoa guys! I think we're starting to get a bit off topic here just saying,.. even though it's pretty cool about Stevie Nicks I have to admit. :cool

I have decided to travel the world. I will be coming to a town near you. Lol.

I got 3 options.

1. Find a girlfriend, buy a house for us, get married, and have some comfort, peace, and love. (But that's not really working out).

2. Go to work each day and then go home, get drunk, stay lonely and depressed and drown my sorrows and take meds because I wonder what on earth is the point of anything it's just a boring repetitive routene.( Im over it)

3. Leave the country and travel the world and explore and have fun with no plans and see where the Spirit leads me.

Option 3 sounds good because option 2 is just wasting life away while option 1 is still there and never expires. Option 3 gives me some sort of inspiration and motivation. Think Mcfly.

I got 3 options. I'm nearly 40, well 38 now, so it's near impossible to find a virgin as I really want and respect a woman who is not a harlot or is adultarous and has respected herself, defended herself, and kept herself pure.

Anyhow, here are my 3 options.

I'm not sure how this has to do with the topic and just where exactly you're headed first, but good luck, have fun, and stay safe. :)

Or maybe none of the above.

It isn't good for man to be alone.

One of my studies today was discussing how the Earth and man were made to be completed by each other. Earth isn't supposed to exist without man not man without the Earth. Same thing for man without a woman. They aren't supposed to be without each other.
Man is completed by having a wife. Without one he is not complete.
Genesis account...so go argue it with God.

And there are a few women out there that would love to go travel or whatever. You never know.

So...you can have an idea of what you want to do...but God has his plans too. They may not be the same.

Option 2 sounds a little hypocritical. You expect that a potential life partner must be free from the sin of adultery while you are not holding yourself to be free from the sin of drunkenness. Why do you place adultery so high on your list of expectations but ignore all other possible sins? God can and does forgive. Shouldn't we also?

I know what your saying. Maybe what I'm trying so say is if I find a life partner that has played the harlot they must be born again. I'm not a drunkard anymore who flips out or acts like a idiot. I have a few drinks but im sensible and responsible and very peaceful and friendly. I just get bored and lonely.

I find it hard to understand the scriptures on drinking. It seems to be ok to have a little or a couple drink but also it says don't have any strong drink or be a drunkard. It's like yes and no.

Come on guys, this is really interesting and everything don't get me wrong, but I do wish that we would get back to the topic at hand. :topic

I add, as I personally knew a few. not all are called to be married. a dear friend never married and adopted a son whom she wrote to while he was in prison. he became invalid and she being a nurse took him in.

marriage is so dysfunctional even in the church. seen it and well I have part of that problem. something the church should work better at. I agree with that but I also know all to well the peer pressure in the church to marry and have kids.

You may have had dysfunctional marriages modeled in front of you. But that by no means entitles anyone to have a dysfunctional marriage.

kiwidan And it also means that you don't have to have kids.

You have certain gifts, talents and abilities that you can use to further God's kingdom. A spouse completes you in this role.
Sharing everything with someone else (the good and the bad) and they love you for it is a model of how Christ loves us.

Just think of her as a fragile extension of yourself and your marriage won't be dysfunctional.

many people aren't taught in the church what the proper roles are. some churches have help other don't. trust me, there are reasons im leary about going to some churches for help as a vet, let alone marriage. the distrust of mental health issues is one and ignorance not that I fully trust the system for that but the church is lacking in this. why I can easily ask the vets here to help me and they will oblidge, I did so for dorian and two were at my parents house installing what I couldnt finish . putting up plywood due to work. I haven't not heard of any church locally that has such a thing.
that isnt in any wise suggesting that in my town there arent such, just that i havent heard of them. imagine that you need a car fixed. a team sees that and works on either giving you money via a purchase on your behalf and you do the work( a subset of the council) you need mental health help outside of the va. local vet check, counseling for marriage. they will try to find you the help. im not saying that the local churches wont with the last, just that its much easier for me to go to the council since its supported and well known to repubatble .

nor am i suggesting that its ok for one to have a dysfunctional family, but alot of churches have bible studies and sunday school and regular services. some might have life groups, others dont . a life group, i havent attended one in a while and that wasnt like what i have heard about now. some will try in these areas. im well aware of the get aways and also groups but not all churches do that. it also takes a special type of person to want to be into this. i am also suggesting that this is a problem as i did teach boys for a time and observed how broken faithful church member families were. grandparents raising their grandkids because the parents were in prison. like it or not. that will create a problem for them in the longterm and a behavior that must be unlearned or avoided. sadly i have seen the failing of that attempt more then i want to. parents who raised their kids to avoid the same drug problems they overcame and watch their kids go down that road. sad. can and does the reverse exist? yes. just havent seen them in my expercience recently.

I believed you before. I was looking nicks up before you responded, she isn't as active but still tours and sings with this band and her solo songs. I believe the one I quoted was a solo.

The only thing I cannot do is play on stage because im not close enough with the band. I can play a couple tunes and maybe one day I can get welcomed on stage and play along side. Lol. That would be awesome, but I think im only dreaming. Kiwidan playing on stage with Fleetwood Mac. Lol.

Looks like staying on topic has already long gone out the window. *sighs and lets go of the important informative papers and they scatter everywhere.*
