I did a good bit of research instead of sleeping last night and I read where Reba believes the most prominent lie about computers Micro Soft ever sold to the unknowing. You see, in the last Windoze 10 string Reba alluded to the very common, very profitable lie any industry ever sold to the world.
Reba, like all Windoze users believes computers are built to fail. While nothing in this imperfect world will last forever the reason MicroSoft's Operating Systems and not the computer at all fails is because when Bill Gates left Apple and Steve Jobs the DOS (Disk Operating system) that had been developing for the shared use of Apple, Linux and Unix Operating Systems. It was the best system that had ever been developed. Bill and his bandit partners, in the course of time rewrote enough of DR DOS enough to get it patented and in doing so they, somewhere along the line to the development of the Windoze systems they added a sure fire growing failure into their OS, the Registry.
A number of people, over the years worked to create a good Registry Cleaner and the creators of RegscrubXP did and before, for what ever reason, dropping the free software they wrote it to work on Vista also and they just disappeared, it seems. There are a number of products for sale but, as a rule, they are not General User friendly and folks avoid them like the Black Plague that is the reason humans working without tiring to eradicate Rats and Mice.
There is a solution that comes, the last I read the newsletter there were over 1100 Linux distributions and a few of them have a modest cost but if a person knows how to burn an image file to a CD or a DVD they can download one of the systems. If not, I just looked on DistroWatch.com or OSDisk.com and a Copy of Linux Mint can be purchased for $5.95 and I strongly recommend you select the version 17.3, Cinnamon (64bit) except you are running a computer older than fifteen years old and if you are, select the same except at the end of it's name you want the (32bit) version.
First the skinny; There will be one decision you will need to make except you accept the default. This is a more windows like version of the very windows like Ubuntu that I run and they seem to forever use the Ubuntu installer so it is very simple to select dual boot if you fear losing Windoze completely. Going with a dual boot system, boot either windoze or Mint, the Installer will automatically divide the available space for both systems and then you answer six questions and for about ten minutes watch as it completes the install and reboots.
You will not need to run an antivirus and there is no registry to become corrupted and cause you to believe your computer has failed. It is possible to download Wine or better yet to pay 60 dollars for Crossover and thus run your favorite windoze software and games.
If yoou need advise, I have not died yet and I'm free!
