The Sword and Shield as well as the Helmet are offensive weapons...

Oops, did I forget to mention that if we catch a demon by its hair we can bash its face into our belt, and if attacked unaware we can run them into a wall using our breast-plate.

:)

We can pick up serpents and they shall not harm us...hahahahhahaha :)

I guess I'm just Madman for God lol !!! :)
so you are one of those snake handlers.

its one thing to be the offensive, but i warn you of your hubris. the devil isnt dumb.
attack a demon unaware. you arent familiar with roman warrior tactics the sheild was used to push back the enemy whil stabbing!

I got a mixtbred-basenji and a pitbull terrier for the snakes...that's a Celtic tactic....hahahahahhahahahha

Even though I preach "we war not against flesh"

You still can't see the truth...lol

And the greatest of weapons are our boots, in which we crush its skull of the serpant after we have beat it near to death.....hahahahahhah

Like I said "I'm a Madman for God!" :)

really, and being cocky like this is the way to engage the enemy. i have been in war and one thing i learned you better not underestimate the enemy nor get cocky or complacent.

satan is very methodical and will allow you win just to see where you are weak at, he does study us.

You still can't see the truth, but you still like to judge me unrighteouslly, you warm the pew good!

Its one thing to be arrogant and outside the WILL of GOD...

A far cry from being...

Fearless without Confusion and filled with Joy! Hahahahahahhahahah :)

Remember, SMILE, it confuses them...

hahahahahahahahah
:)

actually i'm not the only one who notices that. instead of laughing at me and insulting me a fellow believer. how about uplifting me, and staying humble.

i can see why some churches kick you out, you claim to the know the way, and when some dont agree you belittle them. Did the Lord do this? he may rebuke but he doenst go hahahahah sucker you dont get and never will.

Jasoncran,

Oh how you should have learned so much from sitting with me...

Through my laughter and joy, I have drawn out an uncleanness in you.

I just did my best on what little time I have available, to Serve You.

What is a Brother, Brother?

Someone that is always perfect in your eyes?

No. Not at all.

I Love You All with all my heart, but my whole HEART belongs to our Father.

Much Love,

Brian

The doctrine you witnessed is called "wise as serpents, but harmless as doves"

Also take note...all my comments lessened the devils power, yet was only "glorying in the Fear of the LORD" ! Other than a few little brotherly pokes...

But so much still left unsaid.

Earlier when I mentioned using the breast plate as a weapon, I meant when we are attacked unaware, not to start the assault this way.

God Bless

That doesn't sound like a christian doctrine, but a something a karate master would say in a movie.

Are you saying that you have fought a literal demon in the physical world like on Buffy the vampire slayer?

Hey Brian :)

Yes, one soul IS worth eternity!!! Like I said I've been pretty tired lately and haven't wanted to post too much until I can really get my thoughts together. But I plan to help keep this thread alive for a while so we can really get into it.

I probably have some advice and I'm sure others do to so I look forward to a long, fruitful discussion on this! I want to get into each piece of armor, what they mean and the Sword of the Spirit, being the only offensive weapon, how do we use it? Intercession is huge in spiritual warfare also. There's just so much to this topic! I don't know, for some reason I've had a lot of trouble really putting my thoughts together on this...maybe I need to do some warring for myself, lol!

God bless!

There is no doubt that this is a much needed discussion. I would like to first point out, that the armour of God is only for defence, never offence.

EXCEPT for the Sword of the Spirit. Clearly an offensive weapon, although you can defend yourself with it as well.

Hey FT, there are many sides to warfare for sure.

Look at this if you have time, not sure if you have, if not enjoy!

http://www.xpmedia.com/KkumSmTyNb9C Just watch the first 20 to 30 minutes, it gives a small idea of the warfare over regions and principalities etc...

Hey Marc, sorry, I cannot watch videos on my computer. We are on a satellite connection and it pulls too much data, and if you go over their line, they cut you down to like dial up speed. Sux :sad I wanted to watch the other video also. I will try to watch them the next time I'm at Panera :)

Be ye wise as serpents and harmless as doves is a quote from Jesus. Matt 10:16 I believe.

Like I said "I'm a Madman for God!" :)

This is my story about being cocky with the devil. I agree we are to be assured of our authority, but take note:

When I got saved, God showed me how all the occult stuff was pure darkness, and being an empath, I can feel darkness and I know the difference between light and dark. Just a few weeks ago I was attacked by a dark spirit. I had on a good praise and worship cd and was praising God in song and all of a sudden a darkness descended on me. It was a mind-blinding spirit. All of a sudden God seemed so far away, I couldn't "see" Him. Well, I rebuked the spirit, rebuked the devil. That didn't work so I just started praising God really loud "I glory in my tribulations, I glory in my tribulations!". That helped but it led to a downward spiral that lasted a week or so. I started getting back into the flesh and was horribly depressed. So, I called my pastor about it. I didn't know what I had done to open the door to such an attack. Well we figured out I had gotten too cocky with the devil. The bible says even the archangel Michael did not say a "railing accusation" to satan but said the Lord rebuke you. Satan is a fallen angel, but he is still an angel of great power and intelligence. He was created the highest angel in the highest order of angels, the cherubs. He was essentially the most glorious, intelligent and beautiful creature ever created before he fell. So anyway, about a week before the attack, satan was coming at me and I said, you really wanna go? Essentially saying, you really want some of this? Well, I had been getting so much victory over him, especially in the area of condemnation which has been on of my biggest struggles in my Christian life. But I got cocky, suddenly I was challenging him, not relying on the power of Jesus. My pastor said that when we rebuke the devil, we must always rebuke him with a humble spirit knowing that it is by Jesus Name that we gain the victory. Well of course I knew that, but I was in the flesh that day and it just came out. He told me to repent about it and I did, and it all went away. I was back on track immediately. I have a great pastor. The same thing had happened to him many years ago so he knew just what to do.

We do have all authority over demonic powers, but be careful not to "rail" against satan. Always rely on the power of Jesus Name.

Hi

Especially the sword of the Spirit ! It should never be used offensively, only as a defence.

Ephesians 6:12 tells us that it is an athletic competition. This is why the word "wrestle" is used here in this verse. The adversary attacks, we defend using the whole armour of God. Verse 14 tells us to "STAND"

We are also to run the race to seek the prize.

Verse 15 - peace

verse 16 - quench the fiery darts

verse 18 - watching with perseverance and supplication for all the saints

Bless

:)
Where do I start?

YHWH makes His ministers like a flame of fire. Satan can walk up the pillars of fire and accuse us, but we are saved and blessed through faith. Job

Sometimes people look like they are representing but they deny the Power of God, from these we are commanded to turn away from...why do most of you set under a false apostle with false joy and false love? ? ? 2 tim 3

Its funny everyone always gets hung up on the ephesians armor when there is Gen 1:1 to Rev 22:21.

Demons can appear in flesh, eye contact and praying in faith from our closet with provide us a proper "stand"

Demons can and will attach themselves to us through the possessed and as their nethrel self as they exist in Hades.

Sometimes YHWH judges mankind through demons, look at king saul.
We are not to war against the Father, we ask Him what and when to do!

Don't run to a preacher for help, unless you are possessed, then call on the Lord, He will come...demon feed on fear, talk to God in your closet for directions.

The best defense the devil has is a skeptical public!

Satan laughs at the things not ordained by A King, fight with the Old James, he won't laugh at you, that way! ;)

you are setting yourself up for the fall. somehere need to reasearch roman tactics in combat in that area 1st ad and then you will see the understanding of how the shield and it only quenches the fire darts. not the sword.

phalanx wonderful spartan tactic perfected by the romans.

No, not at all. The weapons of our warfare are not carnal (of the flesh). Warring is done in the spiritual realm.

We are all involved in spiritual warfare, whether we like it or not, and whether we realize it or not. Imagine a soldier on a battlefield who can't see or hear an enemy and therefore he doesn't believe there's an enemy out there, so he wanders around without his weapons, not carrying out his assigned duties, completely defenseless and vulnerable, stumbling into the enemy's camp without even being aware of it. The enemy doesn't care if that soldier was ignorant or if he was "just playing around." That soldier won't last long before being hurt by the enemy, yet this is how many of us live. We don't know that there's a war being fought in the spiritual plane, and we don't understand that there's an enemy of pure evil out there. We don't understand that God has an assigned place for each and every Christian, and that we have all been given spiritual gifts and spiritual weapons (defensive and offensive) for waging the battle in the heavenlies while we are here on earth.

At one time, people thought that disease was caused by possession by evil spirits. Any medical doctor that used exorcism in his practice today would quickly lose his medical license. People can do evil things (and good things) completely on their own. Why do you feel compelled to personify evil by creating some mythical creature that lives under the earth with horns and a tail?

A good introductory book on this subject is one by Carus, "History of the Devil." I think you may find it enlightening.

You admit yourself that this tactic you try to teach me is greek but you glory rome, why? Do you think I'm ignorant involving world history?

The Celts sacked rome in the night with dogs, cloaks, and daggers, with their swords strapped to their backs...maybe you need to learn this tactic.

I am American but my family was irish/celtic, not that it matters any, how was the revolutionary war won? Or at least a big part...guess it does not matter either...

"For he put on righteous as a breastplate, and an helmet of salvation upon his head; and he put on the garments of vengeance for clothing, and was clad with zeal as a cloak" Isaiah 59:17

I should have told you before, my armor is of the Hebrew variety...

Maybe you need to study Hebrew tactics, instead of the worlds.

The Hebrews feet are shod with leather sandals, is that the wind picking up? 1 step 2 step 3...where shall they be?

The Hebrew have a Shield Bearer and the same One wields the Blade...for a True Warrior either Stands and Smiles or Bows and Cries with No worry of Friend nor Foe...for the One that Wars for us, is called the "Holy Ghost"!

:)

God Bless.

My time is becoming limited...anyone ever feel like talking email me...but I talk on borrowed time, so patience please :)

Much Love,
