a former member of this site has sent me a suicide note. if you live in the seattle area and can help please send me a pm. I can tell what little I do know , I hope its not too late.

Jim and i are praying also! And have others praying too.

Father we just bind death, loose life, and pray for mercy peace and safety! And we thank You for surrounding them with Your mighty Presence. And for intervening in this person's life! In Jesus Name, Amen!

My house agrees. Amen

jasonc, he sent you the note because he is reaching out for help, yes it's serious, so evaluate the threat,

1. Does he have a plan as to how to commit suicide?
2. Is he giving away personal item that hold much sentimental valve to him?
3. Encourage him to talk to you, listen to what he is saying to find out what caused the depression, ask him to explain things he says you don't understand.
4. From your listening find a "hook," something or someone he still cares about that could give him a reason to live, ...that "hook" might be you bro.
5. Most important from a Christian standpoint, understand it's Jesus that keeps us emotionally stable,

And he (Jesus) is before all things, and by him all things consist. Col 1:17

Thoughts of suicide are irrational behavior, we all entertain them, from your evaluation of listening to him you can determine how serious is the threat, and why Jesus has allowed this into his life, ...that way you can either lead him to Jesus or back to Jesus.

Praying for your discernment and the strong man be bound in his life.

Blessings

he has been baker acted. which is the best thing that could have happened. its a temporary fix but it will at least make him see the signs of it coming on act before he goes to that level of depression.
I don't live near him. a member here does but I must get the patient to willingly to reach out to the other person who can help. I can stay in contact of course, but still in face time is far better.

I know the signs of someone who wants to commit suicide but the only sing I got was an email. nothing much more then that was ever sent to me via pm here or email.

Did you get a hold of this person ?

Our Friend and Brother went silent for a few days then began writing me again and was not him self. He was angry with as his words 99% of christians and called them phony. He was upset with a lot in here and said they just made fun of him.

Then later I got a real long PM from him. He had a plan and had set things up. Claimed he had be giving all his stuff away and was leaving his computer and car to a friend. He had been to his brothers house 4 hours away and took gun and amo and said he was going to go up to the mountains....The rest I will not say.

what is this baker acted ?
a baker act is where you under the force of law can against their will detain them and take them to a pysch ward to be monitored for their safety. its only for three days and unless they are a threat to others or themselves after that period.

you can turn yourself in and the er will do it , or you can be escorted by the cops, or taken to the right place by a family member. my brother, and sister have been baker acted.

What is this?

"he has been baker acted."

I say this to help, not in arrogance, I served on a Crisis Intervention Telephone Hotline, because of work I took the night shift and it seems I received most of the suicide callers, because of that I read books on what to do, I learned so much from both the books and the callers I was asked to teach the new volunteers the suicide caller class, ...that's why I said, from my experience, he is reaching out to you, from all of the people he knows he chose you, the other side of the coin is Jesus allowed this into your life to teach you, there is a lesson to be learned here bro.

When I said you might be the "hook," ...I was the "hook" for some of my callers, because I listened to them, often I heard them say, your are the only person that actually listens to me, I never met them personally, that was against the rules, but I was a calm voice on the other end of the line, sometimes I would tell them what night I was online, ...but set rules to follow, like how long we could talk so as not to tie up the line.

I hope this helps and I hope you consider what I'm saying.

Blessings

sir, he lives a few thousand miles away and told me he had weapons and was going to do it that day. I had no phone, just a darn email. I did what I could. he is alive that is all that matters. if I was in person I would gone to find him but being that state of mind the cops would be told. im not an expert in disarming a man that is ready to harm himself nor have I the training. I merely followed what the army trained me to do. act, care and escort. and that is what I did. I shared what I felt at the time was the right thing to do. surely if that is what you are trained in baker acting sometimes is the option you must use and should use. im not going to openly post what was sent to me from this person. if he talked to you , you would be already telling me about it and asking whom is it as you got a similar email from that person. he reached out to a few here. some have posted here in this thread already , others in the staff thread I started. we do have an on staff retired law enforcement agent.

he went to the er, they baker acted him. I suggested he go to the cops, or the er, or whomever. he choose the er. I didn't tell him what they would do, as I figured he might NOT get the help he needs. his depression was at the state he couldn't think nor sleep. kappesh?

Whew!!!

Thank you for telling us the rest of the story.

You still haven't told me..., what is?

they baker acted him

The Florida Mental Health Act of 1971 (Florida Statute 394.451-394.47891[1] (2009 rev.)), commonly known as the "Baker Act," allows the involuntary institutionalization and examination of an individual.

I had t look it up... by the way Jason has his own shorthand.. :)
