I do remember when it was first talked about the melting ice caps that it was all going to be over by now.

Last year was the warmest on record since we started watching. And the Arctic Ocean is likely to have its first ice-free summer. So pretty close.

There are issues with how such huge systems as a warming earth really aren't well understood.

Decades ago, James Hansen accurately predicted today's warming, using nothing but atmospheric carbon dioxide.
