Taking a look at the Statement of Faith

Amen.

Water baptism is for believers who are already born again.

Now as they went down the road, they came to some water. And the eunuch said, “See, here is water. What hinders me from being baptized?”
Then Philip said, “If you believe with all your heart, you may.”
Acts 8:36-37

Amen. :thm

Good morning Blain. I think you had a typo (due to need for coffee? :^).
The corrected phrase is ..."water baptism was an unnecessary step"...

I don't drink coffee. You sure you quoted the right guy? :gig23

Welcome again to ChristianForums.net.

Oops! I had Blaine on the brain, and was not quite awake myself,
but anyway, I agreed with what you said with that typo correction,
and now I have had some decaf. Thanks for the welcome. :shadz

Does decaf qualify as coffee?

Thank goodness we have the scriptures and the Spirit of Truth to lead us and guide us into all truth.

You have stated much personal opinion that is not found in scripture.
Yes, GW & HS are our guide, but whose personal opinion jibes with God's guidance needs to be discussed in a spirit of fellowship and with a desire for spiritual unity.

Ok.

What are your thoughts about this statement that was made.

No person is lost eternally due to sin. All sins have been paid for, and all sins have been imputed to Christ, not the person that commits .

Do you believe that those Christians who commit a sin that their sin is redirected to Christ rather than the person who commits the sin?
I believe when a Christian sins they need to confess their sin to be forgiven.

If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness. 1 John 1:9

I believe the way a Christian can become lost is by sin, based on the teaching of Jesus Christ.

Greetings, and welcome to CFN. Glad you joined. :ThumbBig

Please keep in mind that the current Statement of Faith was written many years ago, during a time when the general philosophy was "Less is more." The ToS was much smaller as well, with only a handful of rules. That has been expanded in the last year or so, and needs to be addressed again, since we had a crash that wiped out the newest version and need to augment it with the additions again.

But since we may take a fresh look at things, why would you favor using the citations so much? I can understand it, but reading over it again, in some ways I like how clean it is (just my personal opinion, mind you).

Blessings, and welcome once again. Good having you as a contributor.
Hidden In Him
Thanks for the welcome HiH. I desire Scripture supporting assertions so that I can discern whether the claim is true.
I have discovered that many points in some SOFs deal with secondary doctrines that need to be distinguished from the essential truth implied by Paul's answer to the jailer in Acts 16:30-31. This is what I have done in Lesson 2 of our website <truthseekersfellowship.com> in the 5-point elaboration of what Paul's answer implies. I welcome all feedback and suggestions regarding that section and everything else in the website, which I call "ours" because I invite everyone to use it as a resource.

G'morning JLB, I agree that Christ's death atoned for all sins except apostasy/blasphemy/dying while anti-Christ.

I agree that Christians should confess known sins in order not to reprise the sins of Adam and Eve.

I believe that Christians are saints and saints are saved sinners and that genuine saving faith will
motivate/make saints hunger for becoming righteous (Matt. 5:6, Phil. 3:7-21).

G’morning to you.

I was reading some things in your website http://truthseekersfellowship.com

I would like to discuss some things on it but would like to start a thread that is dedicated to a specific subject matter to keep the dialog focused on a specific topic.

The link did not work and I could not find that thread title using Search, so what now?
JLB, How about we go ahead and discuss your first topic here and see how it goes? Then, if we decide a new thread is needed, we can do that later.

Hi Groovy and welcome to CF :wave2

I can agree that with each statement made should have written scripture to back up each one made. Those of us who are seasoned in the word of God already know and agree with that which has been written as we have read the scriptures. Below is a website that includes many scriptures from which the Christian statement of faith derives from. Hope it helps.
