Obedience is a fruit of the Spirit of God in Christians for the Apostle wrote "Christ, foreknown before the foundation of the world, but has appeared in these last times for the sake of you who through Him are believers in God, who raised Him from the dead and gave Him glory, so that the faith of you and hope are in God, the souls of you having purified in the obedience to the truth through Spirit, into a sincere love of the brethren (1 Peter 1:19-22).
Obedience is a result of the indwelling Holy Spirit in concurrence with Salvation; therefore, your "Salvation is conditional on obedience" is the opposite of Apostolic testimony.
The Spirit leads, but only as we, by faith, drink, live, walk, and sow to the Spirit who dwells in and leads those who believe.
- The Spirit will not drink of the Spirit for you (John 7:37-38).
- The Spirit does not live in the Spirit, putting to death the misdeeds of the body, for you (Romans 8:11-12; Galatians 5:24-25).
- The Spirit will not walk in the Spirit for you (Romans 8:3-4; Galatians 5:24-25).
- The Spirit will not sow to the Spirit for you (Galatians 6:7-9).
Romans 8:3-4 [writing to Christians] (WEB) 3 For what the law couldn’t do, in that it was weak through the flesh, God did, sending his own Son in the likeness of sinful flesh and for sin, he condemned sin in the flesh; 4 that the ordinance of the law might be fulfilled in us, who walk not after the flesh, but after the Spirit.
Romans 8:12-14 (NIV) [writing to Christians] 12 Therefore, brothers and sisters, {{{we}}} have an obligation – but it is not to the flesh, to live according to it. 13 For if you live according to the flesh, you will die; but if by the Spirit {{{you}}} put to death the misdeeds of the body, you will live. 14 For those who are led by the Spirit of God are the children of God.
Galatians 5:19-25 (WEB) [writing to Christians] 19 Now the deeds of the flesh are obvious, which are: adultery, sexual immorality, uncleanness, lustfulness, 20 idolatry, sorcery, hatred, strife, jealousies, outbursts of anger, rivalries, divisions, heresies, 21 envy, murders, drunkenness, orgies, and things like these; of which I forewarn you, even as I also forewarned you, that those who practice such things will not inherit God’s Kingdom. 22 But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, 23 gentleness, and self-control. Against such things there is no law. 24 Those who belong to Christ have crucified the flesh with its passions and lusts. 25 If we live by the Spirit, let us also walk by the Spirit.
Salvation being 100% God's work by the indwelling Spirit conditional upon the Christian remaining in The Faith - living, walking, sowing to the Spirit – these are the Christians whom the Spirit gives eternal life.
Galatians 6:7-9 (WEB) [writing to Christians] Do not be deceived. God is not mocked, for whatever a man sows, that he will also reap. 8 For he who sows to his own flesh will from the flesh reap corruption. But he who sows to the Spirit will {{{from the Spirit}}} reap eternal life. 9 {{Let us}} not be weary in doing good, for we will {{{reap}}} in due season, {{{if we do not give up}}}.
Those who possess a Gospel Faith are called “Christians.” A Christian is literally a disciple of Lord Jesus – one who listens to and follows Lord Jesus (John 10:27-29). Who is a true Christian?
Acts 11:26 (EWEB) The disciples were first called Christians in Antioch.
Matthew 28:19-20 (EWEB) 19 Go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, 20 teaching them to observe all things that I commanded you.
