when the pole with the snake on it was destroyed ,I imagine those people were just as upset as many of you would be if the cross was also destroyed
Exodus 20:4-6: "You shall not make for yourself a carved image—any likeness of anything that is in heaven above, or that is in the earth beneath, or that is in the water under the earth; you shall not bow down to them nor serve them".
some would argue thats not a law that needs to be followed ,any more. however it was restated about idols

Acts 15:20

but to write them to abstain from things polluted by idols, ..........

Acts 15:29

to keep abstaining from things sacrificed to idols, ..........

Apparently idols are a big deal
Apples and oranges.

all so interesting. so many want to be saved yet many dont know what to be saved from.
Born on earth into a world, a whole society, filled with idolatry taught and practiced ;
what kind of hope can any child have when they are surrounded by idols all their young life ?

"a big deal"
As written "Little children, keep yourself from idols". Idolatry was practiced in the first century also, yes.... but it is tremendously more popular and widespread and dangerous today.
Apparently idols are a big deal
The command is not to make any image, etc. Not to make any image. Not to make any image. Of anything in heaven. Does that not mean guilt is present even without worship of an idol ?

The cross was/is most important ....... so mis-use of the cross is serious. Using one as an idol is dangerous if not fatal to faith.

It looks like you make light of the execution of the Lamb. His back was one bloody stripe (not stripes - it was so raw) from being beaten. His bones were showing, were visible, where His Skin was ripped open .....
and this is how they (we?) treated The Creator/Creator's Son Yeshua.........
He died, though He could not be killed. He breathed His last for men to redeem them, us, from sin's penalty.
He gave up His Spirit at the last - it was not and could not be taken , but He yielded Himself up as Good News! Unbelievable! Beyond man's most far flung imagination !!!!

The Romans did not know what they were doing. Even the demons did not know.
Or they would never , never, no not ever CRUCIFIED GOD!
both , the cross bar did something the pole did not do . It prolonged the torture of hanging there for many more hours even days . You may have noted Jesus only hung on the pole for maybe 6 hours and then he died. had he been put on a cross it could have taken days for him to die. The Romans knew what they were doing it was a practice art

ya Pilate did not find any fault with Jesus ,wanted to let him go free . it was the Jews that wanted him dead.
Which isn't the relevant point that Barbarian was making. Rather, it's that Josephus mentioned Jesus being crucified. From his Antiquities of the Jews, book 18, chapter 3:

"3. Now there was about this time Jesus, a wise man, if it be lawful to call him a man; for he was a doer of wonderful works, a teacher of such men as receive the truth with pleasure. He drew over to him both many of the Jews and many of the Gentiles. He was [the] Christ. And when Pilate, at the suggestion of the principal men amongst us, had condemned him to the cross, (9) those that loved him at the first did not forsake him; for he appeared to them alive again the third day; (10) as the divine prophets had foretold these and ten thousand other wonderful things concerning him. And the tribe of Christians, so named from him, are not extinct at this day."

Reactions: Barbarian
Where it says "crucify" in the bible it actually says "staked out."
Well, let's take a look....

Matthew 27:26 Then released he Barabbas unto them: and when he had scourged Jesus, he delivered him to be crucified. (KJV)

Then released he unto them Barabbas; but Jesus he scourged and delivered to be crucified. (ASV)

And many, many other versions have the same words. Why not just believe God?

The Jewish historian Josephus ca 93 AD recorded, concerning Jesus, "Pilate condemned him to be crucified."

God says that Pilate condemned Him to be crucified. I believe God. You should, too.

Josephus born 37 AD did not know Jesus ,his writing was not a eye witness account . please read the bibles account
I gave you reasons from Scripture which imply crucifixion on a cross to which you never responded. Besides, Luke wasn't an eyewitness and Josephus was born while most of the Apostles and eye-witnesses were alive, so how does Josephus's account not qualify? According to Wikipedia, Josephus wrote Antiquity of the Jews around A.D. 93-94, which is only a few years after the estimated date for Revelation.

Josephus born 37 AD did not know Jesus ,his writing was not a eye witness account .
But he was a friend of a Roman emperor, (Vespasian) and had access to voluminous Roman records, including those of the Roman Governors of Judea. So he knew the truth.

Matthew 26:2 Ye know that after two days is the feast of the passover, and the Son of man is betrayed to be crucified.

Matthew 27:22 Pilate saith unto them, What shall I do then with Jesus which is called Christ? They all say unto him, Let him be crucified.

Matthew 27:35 And they crucified him, and parted his garments, casting lots: that it might be fulfilled which was spoken by the prophet, They parted my garments among them, and upon my vesture did they cast lots.

Matthew 27:38 Then were there two thieves crucified with him, one on the right hand, and another on the left.

Matthew 28:5 And the angel answered and said unto the women, Fear not ye: for I know that ye seek Jesus, which was crucified.

Mark 15:15 And so Pilate, willing to content the people, released Barabbas unto them, and delivered Jesus, when he had scourged him, to be crucified.

Mark 15:25 And it was the third hour, and they crucified him.

Mark 15:32 Let Christ the King of Israel descend now from the cross, that we may see and believe. And they that were crucified with him reviled him.

Luke 23:33 And when they were come to the place, which is called Calvary, there they crucified him, and the malefactors, one on the right hand, and the other on the left.

Acts 2:36 Therefore let all the house of Israel know assuredly, that God hath made the same Jesus, whom ye have crucified, both Lord and Christ.

Tertullian confessed that pagans worshiped crucified saviors by hanging them on a cross.

"Crosses, moreover, we Christians neither venerate nor wish for. You indeed who consecrate gods of wood venerate wooden crosses, perhaps as parts of your gods. For your very standards, as well as your banners, and flags of your camps, what are they but crosses gilded and adorned? Your victorious trophies not only imitate the appearance of a simple cross, but also that of a man affixed to it."

The pagan roots of Christianity are indicated by his confession. Tertullian was a Christian who later became a Gnostic. He implies that Pagan Christians borrowed the sun-god myth.
