The Derailing Thread Part Two

I took German in high school, but don't remember much of it. I developed an interest in Japanese when I first start training in karate. I felt it was just as important to train the mind as the body.
Interesting.
They say math trains the mind.
I always complained that too much math is taught in both high school and college. Way beyond anything anyone will ever need in real life. I was always told that math trains the mind to think.
Maybe. I always hated it. Guess I can't THINK like that !!

So, how long before you know your score?

The most common interest rate on savings accounts is 0.01% across the nation. That is below the rate of inflation. If someone saves $1000 this year for their retirement, it will only be worth about $440 in 40 years with 2% inflation. Bankers will have confiscated over half of their savings before they can spend any of it. What chance do youngsters have today?

No wonder people are flocking to Bitcoin and other manias.
Could you or kiwidan explain in a simple way how bitcoin works?
I just can't understand it...

How do I get it?
How do I spend it?
Is it like a barter system?

They post scores online mid-February. If you pass certificates go out late-February.

Math, I think it also depends what field you go into. I went into technical fields, and actually did find use for higher math, i.e. algebra, trig, even calculus. I actually wish I could remember more. I would certainly use it. I do agree that even if you don't have a practical use, it does train the mind to think better in abstract terms.

Brock
Oh NO!
Not that!!
I need to go to confession now.
The CATHOLIC ONE!!!
I'll drag you with me!
Try to grow out of this stuff real quick!!

I studied Bookkeeping for 3 years and was a bookkeeper.
BTW, if you can't spell it, you can't be one.

I also studied 3 years to be an executive secretary.
Tried both. Liked both. But the secretarial was easier to get to the top quick.
Like almost right away due to my skills.

Some think bookkeeping has lots of math. It doesn't. Accounting does. An accountant is almost like an atty. They have to know everything, and everything changes every year, or laws are added. Bookkeepers just have to know how to keep the books.

I do believe they've become obsolete...

Platinum blonde bookkeepers have the best skills.

He has a picking style not used much today, I hope the youngsters think it's new and it catches on, that is a sweet sound.
He's the big thing right now here in Italy !
We all met him.
I know his father and had a nice conversation with him last time I saw him.
He said he never sees his son anymore. I could understand that!
My daughter, and her 17 and 14 years old daughters and I are going to see his concert in Florence in January. A pretty small arena, about 10,000 (maybe a little more). I saw Mika there, it'll be very nice.

Here's my daughter and husband and the 17 and 14 year old with him, 2017...
