The Derailing Thread

The holey plant picture grosses me out. Why? I once saw an amphbian push out babies out of its back. SO NASTY
Look up Amphibians with holes in the back if you dare, *gag* *barf*
Was it giving birth? I personally find watching animals do that to be many times easier than watching humans do that...the videos I looked up out of curiosity still make me cringe.

Yes it was giving birth.
I've seen a cow giving birth, but I think child birth is probably a lot more yucky.

I looked up if animal's feel pain giving birth like women and I found this:

Yes, of course. By its very nature, giving birth is a painful process. However, for most animals, it is not so painful and traumatic as it is for humans. Because of our large brains, we are born with unusually large heads, which is going to smart a bit on the way out. Also, our upright stance alters the shape of the pelvis and birth canal, meaning that the baby has to turn on its way out - most animals don't have this problem. Also, animals do not advertize the fact that they are in pain by crying out during birth as humans do, since a newborn animal is very vulnerable to predation, as is a mother in the throes of birth and unable to run or defend herself - crying out would alert predators to her presence and distress, making herself and her young a target.

It's grosser to watch than animal births, to me. Also it's, I guess, easier to empathize on childbirth, since the mother is also human, and the fact that she's in pain is a lot more obvious.

Have you seen the videos on youtube of men being stimulated technologically to feel the same thing women feel in labor?

It's pretty entertaining.

I dont think I will ever have a kid. Matt and I are both mentallyill and I don't want to pass that down to an innocent kid, you know?

I want a variety of pets instead. :)

I'm thinking I don't want kids. And if I did have any, would need to not make it more than a couple, probably--well, if I inherited the blood clotting disorder my mom has. It first showed up after she had me, then after she had my brother it got worse. She has to take blood thinners for the rest of her life.

My favorite News program is in the early early morning called ABC World News Now. The anchors are laid back and funny. Not so serious.
