The Derailing Thread

Up until the first of the year, I supervised guys who climbed towers. It was not my full time job, but I did supervise our contractors when on towers where the work being done was on our orders.

It takes special mental furniture to do what they do - furniture I don't have in MY head. 34 years in Broadcast and LMR Radio and I've never been able to climb. Can't do it. I WANT to do it, but CAN'T.

I've decided that it's probably best for me to read my Bible in the morning from now on. I need structure in my life and starting my day off right will help me stay on track. Otherwise I just wake up and kinda goof around until it's time to head to work.

The bowing deer of Nara, Japan. I've been there a couple times, but no-one ever explained to me that these deer will bow back to you. I feel I missed out now!

Random story.

I once knew this guy named Dontae, he use to always come to the club in town, he believed he was a wizard and was 800 years old. He lived in a house where the lawns were never mowed, the certains were all shut, the widows were moldy, and he only ever come out at night time, never during the day, and he use to always wear a long cloak and top hat. He was the famous guy of the small towns night life, everyone knew him. He wasn't dodgy or nothing everyone used to talk to him and stuff. Thinking about it, he was probably like the dark angel of the night or something.

There sure are some different charactors in this world.

WELL, I had my first annual review by my new boss today. Criticism: He's seen one time (in the five months I've worked for him) where I did not handle myself quite like how he wanted me to. He admitted that it was trivial, but that he'd like me to work on it.

OTHER THAN THAT, he says that my presence in the department has had a positive effect on the four others I work with, and that I'm a ray of light in what was becoming a "dark room". He noted my positive attitude and influence on the others and indicated that he's heard nothing but statements from co-workers that are entirely positive. He also said that I'm getting up to speed at a pace he is happy with (odd, since I'm not at all happy - I think I should have learned more by now.)

Corporate is not allowing anyone to get raises this year (nothing new there), so there is no financial reward, but reputation goes with you everywhere you go. I'd like to remain in this department until I retire in about ten years, but if I do wish to depart I should have no issues doing so. You never know, I've been offered a job by one of our vendors already.

Last time i got a pay raise was my last job not the one i have now, I worked there two years and i got a 10 cent raise, thats $4 a week, thats not even a cup of coffee after tax. Lol.

I would have prefered they gave me nothing at all, 10 cents is an insult.

Dontae or Dante? 'Cause there was this guy Dante, Italian I believe, who lived about 800 years ago. Wrote a lot, especially trilogies.

Maybe he was inspired by that guy and believed he was Dante, because it wasn't his real name but he changed it. I didn't even know there was a Dante who lived 800 years ago. He probably thought he was that Italian dude ressurected or something, just like some cult leaders believe they are Jesus Christ returned, like that dude in Australia, he believes hes Jesus and 2000 years old.

Dante Alighieri (c.1265 – 1321) wrote The Divine Comedy, i.e The Inferno, The Purgatorio, and The Paradiso (I've read them all). So he thought he was that guy and still alive or resurrected/reincarnated after eight centuries? And there's a religious connection here, too, as Dante's visions of especially Hell helped shape the general perception of that place even to modern times.
