The Duck Dynasty debacle

Writes Sheen:

Charlie Sheen is now slamming Phil Robertson for his anti-gay views. Sheen took to Twitter on Sunday to address the patriarch, who has been under fire for his anti-gay remarks.

"hey Mallard brained
Phil Robertso!
you have offended and hurt so many dear friends of mine,
who DO NOT have the voice or the outreach that I do. ....

your statements were and are
abhorrently and mendaciously unforgivable.
the idea that you have a job
outside of dirt-clod stackingis a miracle.
the only 'Dynasty' you are attached to might be the
re-runs of that dated show."

So, is it that if we are not pro-gay that we are somehow bad or mean people?

I'm not pro gay. I don't judge them, I'm largely indifferent to them and pay them little attention. Their sin is wrong, but so is every other sin, so what as far as that goes.

Charlie Sheen must have a lot of gay friends to stick up for them like that. Eh, whatever. I don't have any gay friends. I don't shun gays, but I don't cater to them in some misguided effort to appear politically correct either. I have one friend that is vociferous about gays being accepted and so forth. I told him what I think and made him mad, so he doesn't bring up gays anymore around me.

I hold no axe to grind with gays, but I don't have to accept them and pay homage to them, that wouldn't be right. To me, it's an obvious type of decision. Man...woman...they go together. They get something for their sexual efforts (A baby!!!) Wow! New life.

Besides! Girls smell good. They're precious and special. The Lord said it is not good that man be alone, I will make a help-meet for him? Oh my gosh! What a help meet?! Wow!! Thank you Lord for women! They couldn't be better! The Lord sure is good to man when He gave them women! Praise the Lord indeed! :)

Duck Dynasty’ Flap: Bristol Palin Blasts ‘Hypocritical’ Gays

http://tv.yahoo.com/news/duck-dynasty-bristol-palin-blasts-hypocritical-gays-203537823.html
Bristol Palin says gay activists are “hypocritical” to take offense at “Duck Dynasty” star Phil Robertson’s anti-gay comments.

“I think it’s so hypocritical how the LGBT community expects every single flippen [sic] person to agree with their life style,” she said in a blog post.

“I hate how the LGBT community says it’s all about ‘love’ and ‘equality,’” she continued. “However, if you don’t agree with their lifestyle, they spread the most hate. It is so hypocritical it makes my stomach turn. They need to learn how to respect others’ opinions and not just jump to the conclusion that everyone who doesn’t support homosexuality and gay marriage is homophobic.”

Bristol Palin is making essentially the same argument as her mother, Sarah Palin, who said on Facebook last week, ““Free speech is an endangered species. Those ‘intolerants’ hatin’ and taking on the ‘Duck Dynasty’ patriarch for voicing his personal opinion are taking on all of us.”

Sarah Palin Blames ‘Duck Dynasty’ Gay-Bashing Controversy on ‘Intolerants’ and Their ‘Hatin’

A&E suspended Robertson from “Duck Dynasty” last week after he made anti-gay comments in an interview with GQ.

Bristol Palin linked to a Time article by writer Brandon Ambrosino, who is gay. Ambrosino wondered: “Why is our go-to political strategy for beating our opponents to silence them?” He called for rising above “the endless sea of tweet-hate” to use Robertson’s comments as an opportunity to educate people.

‘Duck Dynasty’s’ Phil Robertson Says at Church He’s a Lover, Not a Hater

The former “Dancing With the Stars” contestant has denied in the past that she is herself “a homophobic.”

“I like gays,” she said in July 2012. “I’m not a homophobic and I’m so sick of people saying that. Just because I’m for traditional marriage doesn’t really mean I’m scared or anything of anyone else, and I don’t hate anybody.”

‘Duck Dynasty’ Pastor: Phil Robertson Sticking With Show

In 2010, she made a gay joke during an online spat with fellow “Dancing” contestant Margeret Cho, saying if Cho understood her family’s views, ” you would embrace us faster than KD Lang at an Indigo Girls concert.”

In November 2010, she apologized on behalf of herself and her then-16-year-old sister, Willow, after Willow used homophobic slurs in a Facebook feud between the sisters and people making fun of their family.

Aw I hear you brother. :)
Lewis's post makes a darn good point. They go around with their "projection" tagging all who do not agree as haters in a very hateful way for having their own thoughts and ideals just like they want. I suppose that technically speaking, by their definition of homophobic (which is nothing more than a political term), that I myself am "homophobic", lol.

I guess that makes them normalphobic, lol. :hysterical

Guess it was all a ploy by A&E to increase viewers during their marathon. It was announced today that Mr Robertson will be a part of the show when filming resumes next month (January).

Go figure.

and we fell for it. :( to think I was going to bother with that show. no I wont.

Several people I know really enjoy that show. It will be interesting if any of the Robertsons will allude on the show to the December problems

It is one show on TV that says Jesus and it is not a swear word... no smut, up lifting and just plain ol silly fun...

im not saying in anywise to watch it but if phil was set up or went along with that idea .it makes me loose respect for that show and network.

I believe Phil was set up & stood his ground, along with the others on the show. The contract is still valid, and would have been very costly for the show's stars to end the contract. It's my belief that the Robertsons are honorable people and will provide the best show for their audience.

A& E .... they've lost my respect

I fell for it.

I never watched the show thinking it was just another ridiculous reality show where men act tough and fold their arms and look at you with piercing eyes from an angle (who does that in real life, lol!), and women who slink around with bowed heads looking up at you with seductive eyes (that only happens in commercials, lol).

But I prolly won't be tuning back in. I like 'em, but I'm too pragmatic. What's the point?

for me the point is a few minutes of escape from the trash / politics of life that shows faith in God.

'Duck Dynasty' to resume filming with Phil Robertson after A&E lifts ban

http://www.foxnews.com/entertainmen...ume-filming-with-phil-robertson-ae-announces/
The "Duck Dynasty" family says they are excited to return to work after A&E Network announced Friday it would resume filming their hit show with Phil Robertson next spring in a reversal of its decision last week to suspend him for comments he made about homosexuality.

In an exclusive statement to FoxNews.com, the family said it was "excited to keep making a quality TV show for our dedicated fans, who have showed us wonderful support. We will continue to represent our faith and values in the most positive way through 'Duck Dynasty' and our many projects that we are currently working on.

"The outpouring of support and prayer has encouraged and emboldened us greatly."

Robertson had been indefinitely suspended by the network on Dec. 18 for remarks he made in an interview with GQ Magazine.

The removal of the 67-year-old family patriarch triggered support from gay rights organizations but objections from many fans of the show, including political figures such as former Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin and Louisiana Gov. Bobby Jindal.

The fifth season of the family series originally had been scheduled to start Jan. 15 but until Friday’s announcement, its future had been uncertain, since the family had said it could not imagine going forward without Robertson.

In a statement released late Friday afternoon, A&E said, “While Phil's comments made in the (GQ) interview reflect his personal views based on his own beliefs, and his own personal journey, he and his family have publicly stated they regret the ‘coarse language’ he used and the misinterpretation of his core beliefs based only on the article. He also made it clear he would ‘never incite or encourage hate.’"

The network added that “Duck Dynasty is not a show about one man's views. It resonates with a large audience because it is a show about family, a family that America has come to love. As you might have seen in many episodes, they come together to reflect and pray for unity, tolerance and forgiveness. These are three values that we at A&E Networks also feel strongly about.

“So after discussions with the Robertson family, as well as consulting with numerous advocacy groups, A&E has decided to resume filming Duck Dynasty later this spring with the entire Robertson family.”

“Duck Dynasty” is the top-rated reality program on cable, according to the Hollywood Reporter, with an average 13.4 million viewers and a marketing franchise in such outlets as Walmart, Sears and Cracker Barrel restaurants – which briefly removed the “Dynasty” items after Robertson’s suspension.

In a statement Friday night to Fox News, the Gay & Lesbian Alliance Against Discrimination said "dialog" between Robertson and the black and gay communities was a critical next step.

"Phil Robertson should look African-American and gay people in the eyes and hear about the hurtful impact of praising Jim Crow laws and comparing gay people to terrorists," the statement said. "If dialog with Phil is not part of next steps, then A&E has chosen profits over African-American and gay people -- especially its employees and viewers.

Jindal released a statement Friday night saying, "I am glad to hear that the folks at A&E came to their senses and recognized that tolerance of religious views is more important than political correctness. Today is a good day for the freedoms of speech and religious liberty."

Family Research Council president Tony Perkins said in a statement following A&E's announcement, “The attacks on Phil Robertson revealed to the American people that the push to redefine marriage is less about the marriage altar than it is fundamentally altering America's moral, political and cultural landscape.

"A&E Network’s reversal in the face of backlash is quite telling to the American people who are growing tired of GLAAD and cultural elites who want to silence people and remove God and His word from every aspect of public life."
