Jesus never commanded us to be water baptized. He commanded us to baptize people in his name.
Matthew 28:19 "Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the NAME of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost."
The name of Jesus is the ONLY NAME by which we must be saved.
Acts 4:12 "Nor is there salvation in any other, for there is no other NAME under heaven given among men by which we must be saved."
That means by His authority, that means (the way HE says to do it)
Jesus was given ALL authority in Heaven and on Earth:The name of Jesus is the Word of God
Revelation 19:13 "He was clothed with a robe dipped in blood, and His NAME is called The Word of God."
Matthew 28:18-20 (KJV)
18 And Jesus came and spake unto them, saying, All power is given unto me in heaven and in earth. 19 Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost: 20 Teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you: and, lo, I am with you alway, even unto the end of the world. Amen.
The washing of the word means the Word of God is the Book of (the manual to) regeneration, and what does it teach? water baptism Acts 2:38, Acts 8:36herefore, to baptize people in his name is to immerse them in the Word of God.
Ephesians 5:26 "That He might sanctify and cleanse her with the washing of water by the word"
Acts 8:36 (KJV)
36 And as they went on their way, they came unto a certain water: and the eunuch said, See, here is water; what doth hinder me to be baptized?
Carnal outward forms (traditions) were rejected by Jesus :Circumcision and Baptism are both carnal, outward forms of the same spiritual reality.
Colossians 2:8 (KJV)
8 Beware lest any man spoil you through philosophy and vain deceit, after the tradition of men, after the rudiments of the world, and not after Christ.
The Eunuch was baptized with water, when did the Eunuch rejoice? when he believed? or after he was baptized?Acts 1:5 "For John truly baptized with water; but ye shall be baptized with the Holy Ghost not many days hence."
Only Jesus baptizes with the Holy Spirit, He did so recorded only twice, once on Pentecost (the Apostles Gew) and once with the house of Cornelius (fulfilling the Prophecy of Joel and showing he is no respecter of person Gentile)
And nowhere can it be shown that baptism with the Holy Spirit ever saved anyone...
Peter commanded the house of Cornelius AFTER they were baptized with the Holy Spirit to be water baptized, why?
Peter himself tells us in 1 Pet. 3:20-21:
1 Peter 3:20-21 (KJV)
20 Which sometime were disobedient, when once the longsuffering of God waited in the days of Noah, while the ark was a preparing, wherein few, that is, eight souls were saved by water. 21 The like figure whereunto even baptism doth also now save us (not the putting away of the filth of the flesh, but the answer of a good conscience toward God,) by the resurrection of Jesus Christ:
