but if so many more people are on hard drugs, should we really have guns floating around?
Absolutely. I know some druggies, and they used to own guns. I think they all went to the pawn shop so they could buy drugs. Personally, I think that when the SHTF, that the druggies will be the most dangerous people out there to deal with. A lot of them have families, and when things get tight, the mama's will tell them me and the kidss are hungry, go get some food or money...and they're going to get dangerous. They'll turn on their friends to rob them.
There's really only one way to deal with a drug crazed lunatic. Sad, but it's what we're facing.
Your implication that if there were no guns that there'd be less violence, is well intentioned but not very realistic. Lacking guns, a lunatic will resort to whatever is at hand to do what they have to do to get their next fix or get some food for the family. Knives, baseball bats, even a bucks worth of gasoline will do the same thing as guns will in a criminal endeavor.
There's no way that guns can be eradicated at this point. There's too many of them out there. People can even make guns fairly easily now. The only thing that legislation against the ownership of guns would do, is to take more guns out of the hands of law abiding people. The criminals don't follow laws! They'll go steal a gun.
Understand, Brother?
