Well, actually; yes, you can, especially in North America, unless the word is being used with another feminine word or context, to differentiate the genders (as in: 'the cosmetics section of the store is over there; the guys might prefer to go someplace else').

For example, if you go to a restaurant in a group including several women, it's not unusual for the waitress to call them 'you guys'.

I'm so stuffed LOL Smoked turkey, stuffing, mashed potatoes, corn, green beans, salad, gravy, and an assortment of desserts. We had rolls but teh boys forgot about them in the oven and burnt them. Oops! Oh well. I am thankful for good food, a good gentleman and his wonderful family, being alive ...

They might have been! My gentleman, his brother, and their father were in the kitchen, the brother's wife and myself were watching :)
