Bible Study The Law and Christ

Tree of knowledge = The Law of Moses.

Tree of Life = Christ

?
Dear Brother Dan, my thinking is that the Tree of the knowledge is the law revealing the very nature of God’s holiness. Now the tree of life can be no less than Jesus giving life to all who believe on His name.

Gen 2:9 And out of the ground made the LORD God to grow every tree that is pleasant to the sight, and good for food; the tree of life also in the midst of the garden, and the tree of knowledge of good and evil.

Gen 3:22 And the LORD God said, Behold, the man is become as one of us, to know good and evil: and now, lest he put forth his hand, and take also of the tree of life, and eat, and live for ever:

2 Cor 3:6 Who also hath made us able ministers of the new testament; not of the letter, but of the spirit: for the letter killeth, but the spirit giveth life.

2 Cor 3:7 But if the ministration of death, written and engraven in stones, was glorious, so that the children of Israel could not stedfastly behold the face of Moses for the glory of his countenance; which glory was to be done away:

2Co 3:8 How shall not the ministration of the spirit be rather glorious?

Tree of knowledge = The Law of Moses.
Tree of Life = Christ?
More specifically, the tree with the forbidden fruit was the tree of "the knowledge of good and evil." (Gen 2:9, 17)
The temptation to eat the fruit which the devil presented was that their eyes would be opened and they would be like God knowing good and evil.
Knowing good and evil is not what man was made for; we were created to know God.

Knowing evil brings pain, worry, sorrow, anguish and anger.
Knowing God brings love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control (Gal 5:22-23)
The Law was given to Israel so that, if they kept it, they would know love, joy, and peace
If they refused or neglected to keep it, they would know pain, worry, sorrow, anguish and anger.

Christ is prefigured by the tree of life.
John 6:48-51 (RSV) I am the bread of life. Your fathers ate the manna in the wilderness, and they died.
This is the bread which comes down from heaven, that a man may eat of it and not die. I am the living bread which came down from heaven; if any one eats of this bread, he will live for ever; and the bread which I shall give for the life of the world is my flesh.

53-58 Jesus said to them, "Truly, truly, I say to you, unless you eat the flesh of the Son of man and drink his blood, you have no life in you; he who eats my flesh and drinks my blood has eternal life, and I will raise him up at the last day. For my flesh is food indeed, and my blood is drink indeed.
He who eats my flesh and drinks my blood abides in me, and I in him. As the living Father sent me, and I live because of the Father, so he who eats me will live because of me.
This is the bread which came down from heaven, not such as the fathers ate and died; he who eats this bread will live for ever.

Adam, after eating from the Tree of Knowledge, now had his eyes opened to what was good and evil. Adam knew he and his wife Eve had sinned against God. They realized they were naked, as only knowledge of good and evil could have revealed that to Adam, and they tried to hide from God, but God knew where they were and clothed their shame with animal skins. (First blood sacrifice for atonement of sin). Adam, Eve and all generations to come were now forced out of the beautiful garden to till the land in what would become a sin cursed world, Genesis 3:1-24. God sought to destroy wicked man and caused a great flood upon the earth, but found favor in only one man whose name was Noah whom God gave instruction to build an ark and save his family from the flood. When man began to populate the earth sin was once again abounded and God gave the law to Moses, but it carried a curse with it if not followed to the letter. Man once again continued to transgress the law following their own desires of lusting after other gods.

There was also the Tree of Life in the midst of the garden. God had to stop Adam and Eve from eating of the Tree of Life as then they and all generations to come would attain eternal life in a sin cursed world and for this reason God sent them out of the garden and blocked the entrance to it. Adam not only lost that fellowship with God when he sinned, but also lost the purposed eternal life living in the garden of Gods beauty and brought on physical death and Spiritual death to all generations. God purposed man to live forever and take care of His creation, but now God said His Spirit would not always strive with man and later before Noah's flood God shortened man's lifespan to 120 years, Genesis 6:3.
God showed His grace in refusing to allow mankind to live forever in a world filled with sorrow and suffering and provided the way for man to live an eternal life in a place where there is no more death, sorrow and pain, Revelation 21:3-4; 22:3. God loved the world so much that He by His grace gave us His only begotten son Jesus (The Tree of Life/final blood sacrifice) that those who will believe in Him should not perish, but have life eternal, John 3:3-16; 14:6. Jesus is our Tree of Life that through the Spiritual rebirth we will have life eternal in paradise, Rev Chapter 21, 22.

Was Adam a sinner before Adam sinned? Of course!

Paul, in 1 Tim. 1:9 spells this out, clearly.

1 Timothy 1:
9 Knowing this, that the law is not made for a righteous man, but for the lawless and disobedient, for the ungodly and for sinners, for unholy and profane, for murderers of fathers and murderers of mothers, for manslayers,

God Spoke the first law to Adam: Do NOT eat

There was no need for God to Speak this LAW if Adam was NOT already a sinner.

The question to ask is, how can this possibly be? How can a person, Adam, already have been a sinner?

Jesus spells this out clearly on what determines a sinner. And for that Jesus looks INSIDE the person, not outside:

Matt. 5:28, Matt. 15:19-20 and Mark 7:21-23

A sinner is not determined by the outside action, but the inside, in the thought realm. It is from there that springs up every evil sin.

We wonder then, how can it be that Adam was a sinner without any law?

Ah, but you see, there was a FIRST LAW prior to the second. The Word of BLESSINGS was also a COMMAND!

Genesis 1:22
And God blessed them, saying, Be fruitful, and multiply, and fill the waters in the seas, and let fowl multiply in the earth.

These matters are particularly interesting, if we pay attention to the finer details.

To do that is to enter into the spiritual aspects of these matters. Seeing the matters from the outside will remain, well, fruitless and void of Divine Insights.

How is it that ADAM, with Eve yet within, would "fill the waters in the seas?" Didn't God create the waters, and divide them already? Of course.

And how could ADAM let fowl multiply, IN the earth? Does that make sense either?

Not looking from the outside, no. To understand these matters requires us to look INSIDE.

I'll cut to the chase on the last matter of the FIRST COMMAND(s) to Adam, the natural flesh man.

"let fowl multiply IN the earth."

For this, I will bring in The Truthful Witness of these matters, Jesus.

What does Jesus tell us about fowl?

Fowl in spiritual sight are not seen, but are in fact INTERNAL. And are pinpointed in parable/allegory, here:

Mark 4:4
And it came to pass, as he sowed, some fell by the way side, and the fowls of the air came and devoured it up.

So, what does this mean, and how might we apply it to the FIRST COMMAND?

Let's HEAR Jesus. Only DISCIPLES can HEAR Jesus' speakings:

Mark 4:
14 The sower soweth the word.

15 And these are they by the way side, where the word is sown; but when they have heard, Satan cometh immediately, and taketh away the word that was sown in their hearts.

In that first command from God, God COMMANDED that the fowl MULTIPLY "in the earth."

Hope you can get the picture, and see how it is that Adam was in fact a sinner, as soon as the FIRST COMMAND came to Adam. And why this is so. It is an internal sight. And this then was followed by the FIRST LAW to Adam, the sinner. But it really was never just about Adam to begin with. It was about Adam and the FOWL that entered IN the earth, which was the DUST/earth/clay BODY of Adam, the natural man.

These types of studies in theology are termed protology, the study of beginnings. They are actually quite intense and entirely interesting.

That is not accurate.
Law of Moses = Old Covenant
Law of Christ = New Covenant
Cross of Christ = Tree of Life

Why is the Cross of Christ the Tree of Life? Because sin, death, Hades, Hell, and Satan were destroyed on the Cross, and eternal life could be offered to all who repent and believe the Gospel.

But they do not give life or eternal life to anyone. They pronounce the death penalty upon all. If you break one law, you have broken all the laws.

There is absolutely ZERO wrong with ANY of Gods Words. Zero. Jesus is in Perfect Alignment with ALL His Words. Just because they contain things that are adverse does not mean their intentions are ILL to us.

Romans 7:
10 And the commandment, which was ordained to life, I found to be unto death.

And this is exactly what is SUPPOSED to happen.

There is no difference between Christ and the Law(s.)

I do not agree as there is a huge difference.

Every Word of God is the Word of Christ. There is no variance in God, though there be an abundance of diversity in His Working and Intentions.

God is NOT against His Own Words, and can NOT be. To even think that is against His Own Words is utter nonsense.

There was no need for God to Speak this LAW if Adam was NOT already a sinner.

So what made Adam a sinner before God told him not to eat of the fruit? And please do not say God made him that way because if God did then He would had to breath an evil breath into him to make him a sinful living soul and there is nothing evil of God. Why would God make Adam a sinner and then place him in the garden to just throw him out of it?

Then I can safely say you do not believe these scriptures, or is it a possibility you have never understood them. These are the words of God in the Old Covenant as the Old Covenant brought a curse with it just as the New Covenant brings a curse with it. Gods grace is sufficient.

Read the posts already made on the subject matter.

Yes, God had FULL intentions of KILLING the natural man, Adam.

1 Cor. 15:
42 So also is the resurrection of the dead. It is sown in corruption; it is raised in incorruption:
43 It is sown in dishonour; it is raised in glory: it is sown in weakness; it is raised in power:
44 It is sown a natural body; it is raised a spiritual body. There is a natural body, and there is a spiritual body.
45 And so it is written, The first man Adam was made a living soul; the last Adam was made a quickening spirit.

All the RED is how the FIRST NATURAL MAN was made, and it was done with Godly Precisions.
