Bible Study The Law and Christ

"My flesh is dead"

Brilliant conclusion. And it is so because of SIN in it.

"My flesh is dead"

Brilliant conclusion. And it is so because of SIN in it.

You still do not get it. My flesh is dead, yes, because of sin that is why it is called a filthy rag in Isaiah 64:6 and needs that of a Savior in John 3:3-6 and Romans 10:9, 10. You keep going back to the flesh and never seem to go forward helping others understand that we who are in Christ and walk after the Spirit are no longer concerned about this filthy flesh as we have crucified it and it is no longer in proprietorship with the renewed inner man that is made Spiritual by the indwelling of the Holy Spirit. This sinful flesh is dead and no longer can control us who are in Christ and He in us. It can be tempted, but now we have Gods power and authority over those temptations to tell them to be gone as it's by Gods grace that has set us free from this sinful flesh.

1Co 15:54 So when this corruptible shall have put on incorruption, and this mortal shall have put on immortality, then shall be brought to pass the saying that is written, Death is swallowed up in victory.

Rom 8:34 Who is he that condemneth? It is Christ that died, yea rather, that is risen again, who is even at the right hand of God, who also maketh intercession for us.
Rom 8:35 Who shall separate us from the love of Christ? shall tribulation, or distress, or persecution, or famine, or nakedness, or peril, or sword?
Rom 8:36 As it is written, For thy sake we are killed all the day long; we are accounted as sheep for the slaughter.
Rom 8:37 Nay, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him that loved us.
Rom 8:38 For I am persuaded, that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor principalities, nor powers, nor things present, nor things to come,
Rom 8:39 Nor height, nor depth, nor any other creature, shall be able to separate us from the love of God, which is in Christ Jesus our Lord.

Then the point of observation of fact has been made.

One has to present the whole and not just repetitious bits and pieces in order to observe the fullness of what God has already spoken so we gain full understanding and not just the jest, like I use to, as when we only see the jest we miss out on all the gems of Gods word that brings all truth together.

None of us dodge this conclusion of the law:

Galatians 3:22
But the scripture hath concluded all under sin, that the promise by faith of Jesus Christ might be given to them that believe.

Romans 8:10
And if Christ be in you, the body is dead because of sin; but the Spirit is life because of righteousness.

Tree of knowledge = The Law of Moses.

Tree of Life = Christ

?

The tree of the knowledge of good and evil; God had told Adam not to eat of its fruit lest you die. The Law of Moses likewise was given on Mount Sinai, the mountain that wasn't to be touched or they would die: man and beast.

The fruit of the tree of knowledge caused Adam to hide from the presence of the Lord. The Law given to Moses in the Face of the Glory of God caused the people to hide from the presence of the Lord, saying we will listen to Moses, but let not God speak with us lest we die (Exodus 20:19).

Hebrews 12:18-24
For ye are not come unto the mount that might be touched, and that burned with fire, nor unto blackness, and darkness, and tempest, And the sound of a trumpet, and the voice of words; which voice they that heard intreated that the word should not be spoken to them any more: (For they could not endure that which was commanded, And if so much as a beast touch the mountain, it shall be stoned, or thrust through with a dart: And so terrible was the sight, that Moses said, I exceedingly fear and quake;
But ye are come unto mount Sion, and unto the city of the living God, the heavenly Jerusalem, and to an innumerable company of angels, To the general assembly and church of the firstborn, which are written in heaven, and to God the Judge of all, and to the spirits of just men made perfect, And to Jesus the mediator of the new covenant, and to the blood of sprinkling, that speaketh better things than that of Abel.

.

The Law of Moses began with the ten commandment of thou shall not.

Deuteronomy 5:6-21
I am the Lord thy God, which brought thee out of the land of Egypt, from the house of bondage. Thou shalt have none other gods before me. Thou shalt not make thee any graven image, or any likeness of any thing that is in heaven above, or that is in the earth beneath, or that is in the waters beneath the earth: Thou shalt not bow down thyself unto them, nor serve them: for I the Lord thy God am a jealous God, visiting the iniquity of the fathers upon the children unto the third and fourth generation of them that hate me, And shewing mercy unto thousands of them that love me and keep my commandments. Thou shalt not take the name of the Lord thy God in vain: for the Lord will not hold him guiltless that taketh his name in vain. Keep the sabbath day to sanctify it, as the Lord thy God hath commanded thee. Six days thou shalt labour, and do all thy work: But the seventh day is the sabbath of the Lord thy God: in it thou shalt not do any work, thou, nor thy son, nor thy daughter, nor thy manservant, nor thy maidservant, nor thine ox, nor thine ass, nor any of thy cattle, nor thy stranger that is within thy gates; that thy manservant and thy maidservant may rest as well as thou. And remember that thou wast a servant in the land of Egypt, and that the Lord thy God brought thee out thence through a mighty hand and by a stretched out arm: therefore the Lord thy God commanded thee to keep the sabbath day.
Honour thy father and thy mother, as the Lord thy God hath commanded thee; that thy days may be prolonged, and that it may go well with thee, in the land which the Lord thy God giveth thee. Thou shalt not kill. Neither shalt thou commit adultery. Neither shalt thou steal. Neither shalt thou bear false witness against thy neighbour. Neither shalt thou desire thy neighbour's wife, neither shalt thou covet thy neighbour's house, his field, or his manservant, or his maidservant, his ox, or his ass, or any thing that is thy neighbour's.

The Law of Christ began with the ten Blessings.

Matthew 5:1-12
And seeing the multitudes, he went up into a mountain:and when he was set, his disciples came unto him: And he opened his mouth, and taught them, saying,
Blessed are the poor in spirit: for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.
Blessed are they that mourn: for they shall be comforted.
Blessed are the meek: for they shall inherit the earth.
Blessed are they which do hunger and thirst after righteousness: for they shall be filled.
Blessed are the merciful: for they shall obtain mercy.
Blessed are the pure in heart: for they shall see God.
Blessed are the peacemakers: for they shall be called the children of God.
Blessed are they which are persecuted for righteousness 'sake: for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.
Blessed are ye, when men shall revile you, and persecute you, and shall say all manner of evil against you falsely, for my sake.
Rejoice, and be exceeding glad: for great is your reward in heaven: for so persecuted they the prophets which were before you.

Psalm 133
Behold, how good and how pleasant it is
for brethren to dwell together in unity!
It is like the precious ointment upon the head,
that ran down upon the beard,
even Aaron's beard:that went down to the skirts of his garments;
As the dew of Hermon, and as the dew that descended upon the mountains of Zion:
for there the Lord commanded the blessing,
even life for evermore.

The tree of knowledge of good and evil was Satan,
Satan is death.
They were deceived by him.
Caused them death.
Tree of Life was/is Christ.
Same is happening now and especially in the future, deceiving, lies, coming out of his mouth.....

The tree of the knowledge of good and evil was NOT Satan. It was the serpent who tempted Eve to eat of the fruit.

The tree of Life is of Christ, the image of the Son. Adam too was a Son of God, and was free to partake of the tree of Life.
The Tree of the knowledge of good and evil is of the Father.

Satan's temptation is that you lift yourself above the position of a Son.

Satan was a tree in the garden of Eden, also known as the serpent....
Ezek.28:13-18
The king of Tyrus was a role of Satan..
Was the king in the garden of Eden?
Ezek.31:1-11
The Assyrian was a role of Satan also...
Verse 9, I have made him fair by the multitude of His branches, so that all the trees of Eden that were in the garden of God, envied him.
His heart lifted up in height....

I've been saying this all along that the body is dead because of sin as it has no fellowship with God nor could it ever. The law brought us to the knowledge or a better word an understanding of what sin truly is. This is why we need a Savior who is Christ Jesus as we are now justified through the Holy Spirit that indwells us upon the Spiritual rebirth as we are now risen with Christ and have shed, or put to death the sins of this flesh as we no longer walk in the flesh, but walk in the Spirit. If we are walking in the Spirit and seek those things from above there is no more sin found in us in the eyes of God who knows our heart.

BTW when you quote me could you please use the whole sentence instead of chopping it to prove your point, Thank you

Ezekiel Chapter 28 Prince of Tyrus is a dual referent to Satan. Ezekiel 3:1-11 is also a duel referent to Satan, not as the Tree of Knowledge, but is described as a mighty tree in all his beauty and splendor until pride caused his fall from God.

Your body will not be dead until your spirit leaves it.

For as the body without the spirit is dead, so faith without works is dead also. James 2:26

You body will die and be resurrected.

Until then we are to exercise dominion over our body and the sin contained within it.

If we allow our flesh, and it's sinful desires to have it's way, by ruling our lives, and gratifying itself by the works of the flesh, then we have become it's slave, rather than making our body a slave to righteousness.

Paul breaks it down for us:

For you, brethren, have been called to liberty; only do not use liberty as an opportunity for the flesh...
I say then: Walk in the Spirit, and you shall not fulfill the lust of the flesh...
Now the works of the flesh are evident, which are: adultery, fornication, uncleanness, lewdness, 20 idolatry, sorcery, hatred, contentions, jealousies, outbursts of wrath, selfish ambitions, dissensions, heresies, 21 envy, murders, drunkenness, revelries, and the like; of which I tell you beforehand, just as I also told you in time past, that those who practice such things will not inherit the kingdom of God. Galatians 5:13,16,19-21

...that those who practice such things will not inherit the kingdom of God.

The tree of knowledge of good and evil was Satan,
I don't see this in Scripture, even as a symbolic representation. It is was a *testing* tree against the wiles of Satan. Anyhow, completely off topic.

Off topic?
I was responding to OP..
I really don't think the tree was the law of Moses,
Satan was good and turned evil.
So excuse me, if I don't agree with your beliefs. Wish you would respect mine.
We all are symbolic for trees, judge them by their fruits, and Satan sure was bad fruit.
They partook of that fruit and died.....
Satan is death...
But I was just born yesterday, what do I know....

Yep, and that tree was in the garden of Eden.

Debatable. A new body doesn't auto-equate to the current dust body.

Until then we are to exercise dominion over our body and the sin contained within it.

At least you are starting to recognize the body's factual condition.
If we allow our flesh, and it's sinful desires to have it's way, by ruling our lives, and gratifying itself by the works of the flesh, then we have become it's slave, rather than making our body a slave to righteousness.

There is a false logic employed when we think that by any performances that indwelling sin, evil present with us changes it's stripes.

It doesn't.

I often cut run on positions to their essence of observational differences. Nothing personal. I agree with the bulk of what you print, just as I do with anyone who respects The Word, Himself. Which I think we all do for the most part.

The knowledge of evil was in the Garden.

The deceiver was in the Garden.

The Law was in the Garden to strike the match.

We know from the N.T. the explosiveness of the above dynamic.
