Bible Study The Law Is a Prison

Well....the New covenant is the relationship to God, and without that, a person has no God !
Look at the wording........ Hebrews 8:10 For this [is] the covenant that I will make with the house of Israel after those days, saith the Lord; I will put my laws into their mind, and write them in their hearts: and I will be to them a God, and they shall be to me a people:

Where does the Bible say that? Where does the Bible say a person has no God without the New Covenant? There was a relationship with God in the Old Covenant. The Spirit of God was with mankind in the Old Covenant. If that wasn't true, then none of the Old Covenant prophets could be saved. On top of that, there are many scriptures that state we're under the Old Covenant (i.e. Acts 3:25).

What is the difference between the Old Covenant and the New? That's an important question that isn't being asked.

OK... First, I see that this covenant is with the house of Israel. Therefore, anyone who isn't Israel will not be under this covenant.

Second, the laws will be put into their mind, and in their hearts. That's why there will be no need to teach. They won't need Bibles, as they will inwardly possess the understanding of God's word, from the least to the greatest.

Third, it speaks specifically of Israel being God's people and He being their God, which is a theme that is throughout the Bible.

For these reasons, I'll go one step further. Not only does the Bible not make the statement that we're under the New Covenant, it states that we're under the Old Covenant.

God Bless!

I'm sorry, but Hbr 8:8-10 does not say the New Covenant is THE relationship to God. If that was true, then Gentiles wouldn't be included in the plan of God. All persons before the New Covenant (which would include Abraham, David, Moses,...) would not have a relationship to God. Notice that Gentiles aren't included in the New Covenant, not in any verse in the Bible!

You're basically saying that without the New Covenant, a person would have no relationship with God. That's simply not true. I showed you clearly that all of the prophets in the Old Testament had a relationship with God. Do you dispute that fact? I also showed you that the New Covenant is only promised to Israel. So if you're not Israel, then the New Covenant wasn't promised to you. Are you Israel? If not, you can't be under the New Covenant.

The discussion isn't whether or not there's a relationship under the New Covenant. You're saying that it's the only way to have a relationship, and the Bible doesn't say that. As I've shown, there was a relationship under the Old Covenant.

Also, the evidence seems to be quite overwhelming that we're not under the New Covenant. Of course, I'm open to any argument which proves we are in fact under the New Covenant.

God Bless!
