Focus on the Family addresses the use of biblical principles in parenting and marriage to strengthen the family.

The law of the LORD is perfect, restoring the soul;

The law of the LORD is perfect, restoring the soul; The testimony of the LORD is sure, making wise the simple.
Psalm 19:7

Amen to that.

I wonder if people understand the difference between the law of Moses and the law of the Lord.

16 “The law and the prophets were until John. Since that time the kingdom of God has been preached, and everyone is pressing into it.17 And it is easier for heaven and earth to pass away than for one tittle of the law to fail.
18 “Whoever divorces his wife and marries another commits adultery; and whoever marries her who is divorced from her husband commits adultery. Luke 16:16-18

The law and prophets is a reference to The Law [Torah: First five books of the Bible] of which the law of Moses was a part of the Torah.

IOW Genesis was before the law of Moses, and is the first Book of the law [Torah], however, both the law [Torah] and the law of Moses were written by Moses.

The law of the Lord is eternal.
The law of Moses was temporary.

Yes God is Holy and Perfect and where there is no law there is no transgression, but sin was in the world before the law was given, hold on, behold, the Lamb of God who takes away the sin of the world.

Hi kiwidan
There is no law and Jesus took care of sin before the law was given.
So are you saying there there is no longer any sin?

OK
I agree.
What did Jesus mean when He told the adultress woman...
"Go and sin no more".

Im not all knowing but my guess is Christ had not yet gone to the cross so the curse of the Law was still standing. Not one jot of the law will pass until all things are fullfilled. If people believe it Christ fulfilled all things. He did not fail.

Christ took away the sin of the world and nailed the law to the cross, and his commandments are Love with no contract attached, because there is no law. If Christ had a contract attached it would be the same thing all over again and people would need a Savior from the Savior.

Its not blessings and curses anymore, its just blessings.

There is therefore now no condemnation to those who are in Christ Jesus, who do not walk according to the flesh, but according to the Spirit. Romans 8:1

So you're saying that He nailed the Law to the cross, not our sins?

So you're saying that He nailed the Law to the cross, not our sins?

Both. He took away the sin of the world and the law as scripture says. He fullfilled everything.

"The next day John saw Jesus coming toward him and said, "Look, the Lamb of God, who takes away the sin of the world!"

"Blotting out the handwriting of ordinances that was against us, which was contrary to us, and took it out of the way, nailing it to his cross;"

"Christ bought us with His blood and made us free from the Law. In that way, the Law could not punish us. Christ did this by carrying the load and by being punished instead of us."

"He is the atoning sacrifice for our sins, and not only for ours but also for the sins of the whole world."

People either believe he has taking away the sin of the world and broke the power of the devil through his death as scripture says, or they dont believe Christ took away the sin of the world and failed.

Regarding the atonement...
I believe Jesus died to free us from our slavery to Satan and sin.
So we are not slaves to sin anymore.
What do you think that means?

So you think God wanted to punish us?
Is He, like, a wrathful God?

Are you saying that if I believe I sin, I also believe Christ failed ?

John come saying the Lamb of God who takes away the sin of the world. So either Jesus took away the sin of the world, or, Jesus failed on the cross and Elijah is a liar.

This sounds like the New Covenant to me. Interesting.

Thats the same thing right. There is no sin. John come saying the Lamb who takes away the sin of the world. So either Jesus took away the sin of the world, or, Jesus failed and Elijah is a liar.
Ok.
He took away the sins and the sin of the world.
But John said we still sin and if we think we don't , we're liars.
So we still sin, right?

He took away the Sin of the world as scripture says. And in John it says

"If we say that we have not sinned, we make him a liar, and his word is not in us."

The knowledge of good and evil.

John said that too, two verses down.
In 1 John 1:8 he said that if we say we have no sin we're deceiving ourselves.
That means that we still sin.

verse 9 is saying that if we confess our sins (which means we still sin) Jesus is faithful to forgive our sins when we confess them, and we also make HIM to be a liar if we say we have not sinned.

Do you agree with this?

Why did you write "the knowledge of good and evil"?

Are you saying John the Baptist was Elijah, or that he had the power of Elijah?

Thats what Jesus said to anyone who would believe it.

Was it Elijah, was it John the Baptist, or was it the Spirit of Elijah in John the Baptist.

For this is he, of whom it is written, Behold, I send my messenger before thy face, which shall prepare thy way before thee. And from the days of John the Baptist until now the kingdom of heaven suffereth violence, and the violent take it by force. For all the prophets and the law prophesied until John. And if ye will receive it, this is Elias, which was for to come. He that hath ears to hear, let him hear.
