When responding to the Pharisees, why do you suppose the Messiah made the specific point that He would be in the "heart of the earth" for 3 days and 3 nights?

It was their interpretation of the phrase. They chose to interpret it figuratively because it made better sense to them than interpreting it literally.
But I assume it only seemed to make better sense when basing it on the notion of a 6th day of the week crucifixion/1st day of the week resurrection.

Hey All,
Don't you think "day" is being used in a general term? If put my car in the shop for repair on Friday afternoon, and I get it back Sunday early morning, we don't get super specific about it. We would say the repair took three days. The repair happened over a three day period of time.
Now apply this analogy to the resurrection. It is not perfect, but good enough for general non-specific conversation.
Keep walking everybody.
May God bless,
Taz

But it was a specific conversation with the scribes and Pharisees; the Messiah specifically said that 3 days and 3 nights would be involved. This topic is simply asking if there was something special about that specific timeframe.
