The offering of a sinner - abomination before God

The offering of a sinner - abomination before God? How and why? Pastor says, those who work in unholy places should not offer offering to God. Do not bring your offerings to church. We won't accept your offerings.

...and also, another emphasises we should not offer unto HIM even when we are in enmity with a brother (whether you are at fault or not, whether you are the offender or the offended). Go settle your problem with the person and come offer unto HIM

My view is if evil people help keep the church up they have less money to spend on their evil and more money will go the spread of the gospel and people may come to the Lord by the lost ones money.

That sounds ok. It may also mean, to do more for a church do more 'bad' (continue with what you are currently doing).

I think I can agree with your pastor's view. I have this mental image in my head of movie The Godfather.... and Don Corleone paying a tithe... God doesn't accept that as any act of faith, so the Church shouldn't either.

It would be wrong of a church to ignore where gift and offering money comes from, just to get more money. If someone is occupied doing evil... then the church should do everything possible to help that person understand the need to turn aside from that line of work.

I think of countries where things like drugs and prostitution are legal. Legal is does not mean moral.

ok. well dora, I could really get legalistic on this.

if we work for a cable company say Comcast that sells porn vidoes piped into the home then we shouldn't tithe?

Oh yes, I see the danger of legalism in this.... I saw it when I once went to a Nazarene church and there was a rather wealthy man who owned a restaurant that served beer and wine. Some of the congregation thought the church shouldn't accept his tithes, nor the tithes of one of his staff who also went to the church.

But, there are certain things that we should turn our backs on... like accepting tithes from someone that we know to be selling drugs, or running a brothel or is deep in the mafia.

It requires us to use our heads... not get bogged down in judgement, but also not be quick to turn a blind eye when a brother or sister is walking in sin.

I understand that. I used to struggle with throwing papers to the local planned parenthood , especially when I put Christmas cards in my papers.
