The Pagan Easter

Sigh... Here we go again. Every time Christianity has a celebration some people have to come along and try to ruin it for everyone else. Why is that? Is it because these people have no joy of the Lord in their lives and therefore can't stand to see other Christians joyfully celebrating their saviors resurrection, or birth, or whatever? Now it's Easter and us Christians are being falsely accused of worshiping some kind of false god. Well, everyone knows the Christian celebration of Easter is when we celebrate the resurrection of Jesus. So we are being told that Jesus is a false god it seems. Shame on those who do this while claiming the name of Jesus for themselves! :nono
Post of the day.

I did not accuse anyone, I certainly don't know how any of you celebrate it.
Just posted my beliefs.
You accused every Christian who goes to a sunrise service when you equated the scripture you posted about worshiping false gods with Christian sunrise services. You made that very obvious. That was not posting your belief, that was accusing those who go to sunrise services of worshiping tamuz, a false god.

I have taken the counterargument at times. it was never in attempt to ruin the joy of others. just seeing the otherside.

I can only speak for myself...I don't think you were offensive by stating your beliefs because I know that you are a Christian and you most likely have the best intentions in mind. That is the way I try to approach these types of discussions.

Gal 5:1~~New American Standard Bible
It was for freedom that Christ set us free; therefore keep standing firm and do not be subject again to a yoke of slavery.

At the moment of salvation we are FREE. Religion does not like this idea. But we are.

Religion wants to work out everyone's salvation.

Philippians 2:12~~New American Standard Bible
So then, my beloved, just as you have always obeyed, not as in my presence only, but now much more in my absence, work out your salvation with fear and trembling;

Php 4:8 Finally, brethren, whatsoever things are true, whatsoever things are honest, whatsoever things are just, whatsoever things are pure, whatsoever things are lovely, whatsoever things are of good report; if there be any virtue, and if there be any praise, think on these things.

And thats it isn't it?
It doesn't matter so much what some perceive things to be. The government makes a holiday, playing on Christian voter base to get it done isn't relevant. It just happens.

On this day where nobody is going to work, parents have more time for children and parents of their own. The grandfather stands on the deck offering invaluable advice for the smoker, tips and tricks only grey hair can offer. The family in fellowship, perhaps the odd chance of a guest should they accept the invitation. Laughter of children and the smiles it brings. Dinner served and the father is the first to raise glass or drumstick and offer thanks to the Lord our God for the time together and every single thing provided, not a nation, nor something that doesn't exist named Astarte(or anything/anyone else for that matter. Grandmother in tears of joy as she yet again(bit of dementia) praises God that her family is saved. Heads hand a bit lower on that one. Naps and conversation to follow.

Where in this picture is the foothold of paganism? This can't be stuff that just happens at my house, no.

Jer.7:18
The children gather wood, and the fathers kindle the fire, and the woman knead their dough, to make cakes to the queen of heaven, and to pour out drink offerings unto other gods, that they may provoke me to anger.
Clue # 1 - queen of heavens
Clue # 2 - to other gods

There is no queen of heaven being worshiped or drink offerings to other gods. At least not in any church I ever attended or in my home.
Ezek.8:14
Then He brought me to the door of the gate of the Lord's house, which was toward the north, and , behold, there sat women weeping for Tammuz.
Then He said unto me, Hast thou seen this? Turn thee yet again, and thou shalt see greater abominations.
And He brought me to the inner court of the Lord's house, and behold, at the door of the temple of their Lord, between the porch, and the altar, about 25 men, with their backs toward the temple of the Lord, and their faces toward the east, and they worshipped the sun toward the east,
Sunrise service?
Do you really believe that God is jealous when people at a sunrise service are thanking God for His Son's resurrection? For when the Angel of the Lord rolled the stone away?

Matthew 15.....(NKJV)
13 But He answered and said, “Every plant which My heavenly Father has not planted will be uprooted.
14 Let them alone. They are blind leaders of the blind. And if the blind leads the blind, both will fall into a ditch.”

I find it ironic that these ideas and practices are inadvertently promoted every year at this time by the very ones that judge for celebrating easter.

Seems everything has some kind of pagan connection. I wouldn't be one bit surprised if April Fools did, too. And I just pulled an April Fools prank today.

I would ask that we try to keep the discussion to a fairly relaxed level, this is the lounge. :)

Very good advice Quest, you are right this is the lounge after all :)

I think what we tend to forget is the fact that every pagan idea is a counterfeit from the original. The pagans didn't just come up with Easter, it was counterfeited from the original. We are just so arrogant as humans that we think we have come up with something "original."

15 And what accord has Christ with Belial? Or what part has a believer with an unbeliever?
16 And what agreement has the temple of God with idols? For you are the temple of the living God. As God has said: "I will dwell in them And walk among them. I will be their God, And they shall be My people."
17 Therefore "Come out from among them And be separate, says the Lord. Do not touch what is unclean, And I will receive you."
18 "I will be a Father to you, And you shall be My sons and daughters, Says the Lord Almighty."
2 Corinthians 6:15-18

and again -

4 And I heard another voice from heaven saying, "Come out of her, my people, lest you share in her sins, and lest you receive of her plagues. Revelation 18:4

I posted scriptures, and had a question mark about sunrise service, now, if you don' t like the scriptures take it up with God.

You will be called a non christian trying to accuse someone.
Stirring up trouble, its OK though to condemn Jehovah witnesses and mormons, but don' t talk about pagan holidays.

Exactly JLB! We are His temple, He dwells in us. He walks with us. And we are His people(children.)

Deut 31:8~~New American Standard Bible
"The LORD is the one who goes ahead of you; He will be with you. He will not fail you or forsake you. Do not fear or be dismayed."

IT IS NOT OK TO CONDEMN JWS NOR MORMONS. That is for the Lord.

And no one here called you a non Christian.

Question with no strings or arguments attached (in other words I'm asking to satisfy my curiosity regarding people's thoughts):
Do you it's wrong to find Greek mythology interesting despite it being about pagan gods?

I didn't mean to offend anyone, thought that this was general discussion.

Maybe I should leave if I can't state my beliefs on a certain subject, worrying about offending anyone.
Jesus didn't whitewash it, didn't care if it offended anyone or not.

Hear truth or tickle ears?
Truth hurts sometimes.

Does not this post swing both ways.. We are all welcome to our views...
