Bible Study The "practicing of righteousness" verses in the NT

hat continual Faith, shows itself in righteous works. How that looks to others is different.

Amen.

Could this be that continual faith = Abiding?

Abide means to remain connected in relationship.

JLB

I am continually seen as righteous before Him through Christ's mediation before Him. So now I show love to those around me. However that is, it is all done in love. It can take on numerous forms.

Yes, faith working by love.

JLB

Most certainly. Vine/branch, Tree/branch, Body/member principle.

2 Peter 1:3-11
His divine power has granted to us all things that pertain to life and godliness, through the knowledge of him who called us to his own glory
and excellence, by which he has granted to us his precious and very great promises, so that through them you may become partakers of the divine nature, having escaped from the corruption that is in the world because of sinful desire. For this very reason, make every effort to supplement your faith with virtue, and virtue with knowledge, and knowledge with self-control, and self-control with steadfastness, and steadfastness with godliness, and godliness with brotherly affection, and brotherly affection with love. For if these qualities are yours and are increasing, they keep you from being ineffective or unfruitful in the knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ. For whoever lacks these qualities is so nearsighted that he is blind, having forgotten that he was cleansed from his former sins. Therefore, brothers, be all the more diligent to confirm your calling and election, for if you practice these qualities you will never fall. For in this way there will be richly provided for you an entrance into the eternal kingdom of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.

I do believe, that this is the most succinct passage we have that directs us to "practicing righteousness" is all about.

It does show us the process of transformation, as God's grace [the Holy Spirit] transforms us into the image of Christ, as we co-operate with Him.

This is the effort that obedience requires, as opposed to "working to earn".

Our effort is both stimulated and empowered by His grace; The power of the Holy Spirit, the Spirit of Grace.

...for it is God who works in you to both will and do His good pleasure.

His divine power has granted to us all things that pertain to life and godliness

It is by His power, that we are enabled to do, what we can not do on our own without it.

The things that pertain to [eternal] life and godliness.

I don't necessarily like the word "cooperate", but I think I know what you mean by it.

Personally, I would use the word "respond to".

Or be "led by", if you like.
