The Ramble On thread

I am not sure is there is any mods that alter post counts with phpbb but when i was in charge if an invision forum I could alter post counts at anytime.

No John, I'm not about to alter post counts to reflect an unrealistic count. Next thing you know, every active member here may want me to do it for them also. That's a disaster waiting to happen. What you all have accurately reflects what is in the database. See for yourself. Go back to your first post and it will match the date you joined.

Click on your name and go to your profile. Do a "Search user’s posts". Every post in the database will show up. Do the math and you will see it matches the board's count.

Maybe I will do a sync every weekend so that the chance of overinflated counts won't crop up anymore. :D

I think this is just a completely different philosophy on post counts. There are those who feel every post ever made on a site is a users post count. Then there are those that think only the posts which can be retrieved count.

I'm more of the first kind, but that's kinda obvious. Like, suppose John wanted to read every post I have ever made. He would not be able to because there are some posts which have been removed from the database because of old age or just too many threads on one topic. Then there are all the posts I've made in the staff forum. To a non-staff member like John, my tally of readable posts is different than my tally of readable posts for a staff member like Amielou.

No matter the scenario, the post count no longer reflects a complete user history of posts but an obtainable user history of posts. John and myself seem to prefer the first while Vic and others prefer the second. Since Vic is the man taking care of the site, his opinion is the one that matters.

Also, as a note of reference, Vic lost close to 5,000 from his tally. The only person to lose more than that was Logan. ;)

Wow..........that's quite a chunk of post gone. Wow Vic @ 5000 and Logan more! Whewwwww I can't hardly wrap my brain around that many post. Well, apparently I have alot of years ahead of me before I get that many. I'm more of a reader of post than a poster, outside of idle chit chat with the regulars.

With serious posts, I try to avoid debates, when it comes to God's Word it's not up to debate....it is what it is....Truth. Discussions yes, debates no, (not going to beat a dead horse) though I do find some of them an interesting read/study here. There's such a fine line in debates for me at times, and those lines can be easily crossed and become sin by spiritual strife, spiritual whispering, spiritual tumults, spiritual wraths, spiritual backbitings in getting our points across over knowledge that the Lord's wisdom should equip us to share without becoming "Master Debaters" that would argue over the dust particles floating in the air if they could see them. And Praise God our mods/brethern are so efficent in handling those wondering nomads as they pass through with such a noble display of the gift of discernment. Then the Mods and brethern alike sharing the rod of correction, having to keep us all in line when we get passionate about what we're discussing....you guys do a beautiful job here that glorifies our Lord.

But all and all, I really do love reading the post, I've learned alot here among my brethern, and hopefully I've shared in that blessing. I want to personally thank each and everyone of you who have posted 1000's of post to lift up the Kingdom of God, and contributed to this ministry that I have really, really, really enjoyed the christian fellowship/support/wisdom/knowledge and such willing hearts to share wisdom by the leading of the Holy Spirit with such Christ love and patience. I love the fellowship of its godly women, and the respect of it's godly men that truely nuture brethern here in the love of Christ.

I hate I haven't been able to read all the post as of yet, but eventually I'll get there, and man what a sacrifice from all of you who gave up the post. Kind of like giving up your children, pieces of the bread of life your spirit has given for the cause of Christ. But I look at it this way too, WOW make more room for some more great stuff from my brethern here. Apparently I have a long road ahead of me to get that many post, but thank you all for everything you've provided in contributing in our walks with Christ by the sharing of HIS wisdom and knowledge. You're a great bunch to fellowship and laugh with.....

Caroline,

It was one of those things you type, and then when you re-read it, you go Yeahhhhh I wonder if anyone else will catch that too? And then you say to yourself...Nahhhhhhhh Submit it! Then BAM! someone got it too, and find out, welllll I'm not alone on the play/quirk of words.

But at first it was by accident, then I caught it, and decided to leave it to see if anyone else will notice. I do it by accident all the time, alot verbally, and occasionally overflows into my post. Most of the time I correct it, but I thought this one was kind of cool. There's been times I said things and my husband will say "woman what did you say?" and I'll repeat it, and then he'll say are you listening to what you're saying. And after a few seconds, well maybe minutes, I'll realize I've said something that can be taken two different ways. Guess it all depends where the persons head's at, if you know what I mean. But alot of times I'll stand there all stupid while everyone else is laughing. And them there stinkers know what I mean..... :mad :lol

I think the term is lurker :)

I perfer "observer" in the sharing of HIS Word, and recognizing the gifts of the Spirit displayed in my brethern. Gaining wisdom in my silence, as I give my Lord thanks in prayer when HE has revealed a valuable treasure that's refreshing upon my spirit, and nurtures the soul.

I am intrigued by the 32 pages of this thread - is it really just supposed to be for rambling?

Oh Yeahhhhhhhhhhhh!!!!! It's when we need a break from the boards after an intense topic. Come here, let our hair down sorta speak, cut up and make each other laugh with our crazy selves, throw a few curve balls, pitch a few horseshoes, bust a gut, and go back at it with a lighter heart!!

But watch out.....you'll expose yourself here!!! :lol And then we'll know how :screwloose you are. And we do "squirrel alerts" for the real nuts in here.

Ramble, Ramble, Ramble.............

Hello. I'm very new here, and just wanted to get to know people a little better, so I stopped in here.

I'm not used to a format where the last post is not on top. I thought all your posts were really old. :crazy
