The Significance of the Incarnation of Jesus Christ

"And the word (Jesus) was made flesh, and dwelt among us, (and we beheld his glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father,) full of grace and truth" John 1:14.

Jesus was God in the flesh, not born of a man, but born of God, Matthew 1:23. His name Emanuel means "God is with us". Jesus was all that man could be and all that God could be in one person. He was the God man.

Jesus had to be both God and man to save us. He was our substitute and our representative, all that Jesus was and all that Jesus did was for our justification and our salvation. He was acting in our name and on our behalf. This is what a savior does, he does for us that which we cannot do for ourselves.

When Jesus lived, we lived in him.

When Jesus died, we died with him.

When Jesus was resurrected, we were resurrected with him.

When Jesus ascended into heaven, we ascended with him.

Our real lives are hidden with Christ in God, this is why Paul said to the Colossians, "For you are dead, and your life is hidden with Christ in God" Colossians 3:3. No need to worry about losing your salvation, it is in a very secure place at the right hand of God in heaven.

Yet you dont believe that was enough to save them for whom He did this for, since you believe some for whom He did this for still will find themselves lost in their sins and unbelief.

The word "Faith" appears in the Bible hundreds of times. God has given everyone the ability to have faith. We have faith in our parents. We have faith in our husbands and wives. We have faith in others. Why is it that you believe we can't have faith in God and his Son Jesus Christ?

Lol, I know how many times faith is in scripture, any lexicon can tell us that. However that doesnt change the fact you advocate that people Christ died for end up lost in their sins in unbelief, now dont you ?

I agree with Robert Pate as if we have no faith nor belief in Christ then we will remain lost and separated from Him forever.

John 3:16 For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.
John 3:17 For God sent not his Son into the world to condemn the world; but that the world through him might be saved.
John 3:18 He that believeth on him is not condemned: but he that believeth not is condemned already, because he hath not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God.

Eph 1:3 Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who hath blessed us with all spiritual blessings in heavenly places in Christ:
Eph 1:4 According as he hath chosen us in him before the foundation of the world, that we should be holy and without blame before him in love:
Eph 1:5 Having predestinated us unto the adoption of children by Jesus Christ to himself, according to the good pleasure of his will,
Eph 1:6 To the praise of the glory of his grace, wherein he hath made us accepted in the beloved.
Eph 1:7 In whom we have redemption through his blood, the forgiveness of sins, according to the riches of his grace;
Eph 1:8 Wherein he hath abounded toward us in all wisdom and prudence;
Eph 1:9 Having made known unto us the mystery of his will, according to his good pleasure which he hath purposed in himself:
Eph 1:10 That in the dispensation of the fulness of times he might gather together in one all things in Christ, both which are in heaven, and which are on earth; even in him:
Eph 1:11 In whom also we have obtained an inheritance, being predestinated according to the purpose of him who worketh all things after the counsel of his own will:
Eph 1:12 That we should be to the praise of his glory, who first trusted in Christ.
Eph 1:13 In whom ye also trusted, after that ye heard the word of truth, the gospel of your salvation: in whom also after that ye believed, ye were sealed with that holy Spirit of promise,
Eph 1:14 Which is the earnest of our inheritance until the redemption of the purchased possession, unto the praise of his glory.

Eph 2:8 For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God:
Eph 2:9 Not of works, lest any man should boast.
Eph 2:10 For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus unto good works, which God hath before ordained that we should walk in them.

So you believe people Christ died for will end up in hell for their sins in unbelief as well ? Is that correct ?

The Gospel must be received by faith. If one does not receive the Gospel by their own free will, they will never see heaven, John 1:12.

Faith comes with Salvation, only the born again have the Gift of Faith, so no lost unregenerate person has faith that believes the Gospel. As I have showed you, the Gospel is hid to the lost and so they cannot believe the Gospel 2 Cor 4:3-4

3 But if our gospel be hid, it is hid to them that are lost:

4 In whom the god of this world hath blinded the minds of them which believe not, lest the light of the glorious gospel of Christ, who is the image of God, should shine unto them.

There is no scripture that says, "Faith comes with salvation" You are making that up to appease your Calvinist God.

The scripture says that "FAITH comes by hearing and hearing by the word of God" (which is the Gospel) Romans 10:17.

You cannot believe unless you are saved from a lost state, otherwise the Gospel, the True Gospel is hid, resulting in not believing.

Hi brightfame52
So you believe people Christ died for will end up in hell for their sins in unbelief as well ? Is that correct ?
I imagine the problem here is in basic theological understanding. I believe that Robert Pate believes, much as I do, that Jesus died for the sins of the whole world, which is absolutely true, but the promise of everlasting life is only for those of us who will accept that, repent and turn back to God.

You OTH, believe that there was some specific named individuals for which it was always planned from the beginning that those specific named individuals, would receive everlasting life. I'm more in line with Robert Pate understanding.
Jesus died for the whole world, but only those who are baptized and believed will be saved.

"Whoever believes in him is not condemned, but whoever does not believe stands condemned already because they have not believed in the name of God’s one and only Son."

So you see, it's really got nothing to do with anyone being born special to God, except for those few such as John the Baptist, who God created at birth to be the man he was to be. The real truth of what the Scriptures teach is all 'can' be saved, but not all 'will' be saved. And that determination isn't based on some birthright, but by simple belief and faith in what God has told us,

God bless,
Ted

How you doing ? Yeah thats arminanism, salvation conditioned on the doings of men. The Truth is Salvation is 100 % conditioned on Christ and His dying/doing Rom 5:19 and it was for a chosen people only, and that His saving them gives them faith and repentance as their Saviour. For instance, as Saviour He is exalted to Give Repentance and forgiveness of sins Acts 5:31. When He gives repentance, It causes a change of mind. This is also called the New Birth. So repentance and faith arent conditions to get saved, but the fruit and evidence of having been saved by Jesus Christ the Saviour.

Now if you believe as mr pate, you are also an arminian and condition salvation on the doings of man.

Hi again brightfame52,

I think you have that backwards. Salvation comes with faith.

God bless,
Ted
Sorry sir, Faith and repentance are things that accompany Salvation, thats what the writer of Hebrews indicates as well Heb 6:9

But, beloved, we are persuaded better things of you, and things that accompany salvation, though we thus speak.

Faith as well as repentance are Gifts of God, not found in mans corrupt human nature.

The Gospel must be received by faith. If one does not receive the Gospel by their own free will, they will never see heaven, John 1:12.
Wrong and you forgot verse 13

John 1:12 But as many as received Him, to them He gave the right to become children of God, even to those who believe in His name,
John 1:13 who were born, not of blood
nor of the will of the flesh nor of the will of man, but of God.

synergism is the position of those who hold that salvation involves some form of cooperation between divine grace and human freedom

Amen. And the effects of what you describe here have as much to do with the present moment of our lives as our eternal destiny. That we are crucified, buried and raised in newness of life in Christ means also that we are "dead to sin and alive unto God," that "sin shall no longer have dominion over us," that we can daily, by faith, "reckon" ourselves freed from the power of Self (aka the "old man") and Sin. No one co-crucified with Jesus has to live under the power of Sin any more. (See Romans 6; Galatians 2:20; Galatians 5:24; Colossians 2:11-14) All that remains for the born-again child of God to do in order to experience the truth of their freedom in Christ is to believe it and to stand, unmoved, upon these truths throughout each day.

Wrong and you forgot verse 13

John 1:12 But as many as received Him, to them He gave the right to become children of God, even to those who believe in His name,
John 1:13 who were born, not of blood
nor of the will of the flesh nor of the will of man, but of God.
Its true that the Gospel is received by Faith, however Faith is the fruit of being born again. We cant receive Christ until after we are saved , regenerated by the Spirit.
