The Social Life of Jesus.

The bible didn't write about the Social Life of Jesus. So I have been wondering if Christ had time for social events, games: soccer;), skiing, biking:dunno, partying, racing, swimming - fun etc..

It seemed He was an Official and Businesslike kind of Person who never bothered about light-hearted activities.

Would I say He was direct, emphatically doing this and doing that, dedicated to doing the Father's business...and back to His heaven....???

I know He did rest, though He was more engaged - He emphasised REST.

If Jesus didn't have time for fun....should we quit soccer?;)

It seems HE was focused, the reason for His visiting us His priority.

He became a Hero right from childhood.

Jesus went to a wedding... almost seemed a bit grumpy that mom asked Him to help with the wine situation.

The Pharisee's loved to try to condemn Jesus and Jesus said of them, "For John the Baptist has come eating no bread and drinking no wine, and you say, ‘He has a demon!’ The Son of Man has come eating and drinking, and you say, ‘Behold, a gluttonous man and a drunkard, a friend of tax collectors and sinners!’ Luke 7
So, we know that Jesus had a reputation of eating and drinking with folks...

He also stayed at people's homes.
When Jesus came to the place, He looked up and said to him, “Zaccheus, hurry and come down, for today I must stay at your house.†And he hurried and came down and received Him gladly. Luke 19:5-6

Jesus had good friends, Lazarus, Martha and Mary.... He would stay at their house. Martha had invited Him in and got busy preparing hospitality for her guests. She got grumpy because she was doing all the work in the kitchen and her sister, Mary, was sitting listening to Jesus, but Jesus said Mary had made the better choice. Luke 10:38

It sounds as if Jesus did have a social life and enjoyed eating and drinking with people, but He also didn't waste time or allow moments to slip away. He knew He only had a limited time here on earth. I know that once all is truly finished, He'll socialize with us forever... perhaps even play football with you...

American football of course!!! :p

Fantastic Dora!! :thumbsup

I didn't remember all these. You must have crammed the whole bible.

I laughed until I shed tears when I read:

"For John the Baptist has come eating no bread and drinking no wine, and you say, ‘He has a demon!’ The Son of Manhas come eating and drinking, and you say, ‘Behold, a gluttonous man and a drunkard, a friend of tax collectors and sinners!’ Luke 7

There's no American Football in heaven. :lol

well, Jesus didnt need water skis because he could walk on water.
im not sure about soccer, as i think a soccer ball came into existence a bit after he was raised from the dead.
He was perfect, so, im sure his carpentry was also.
I wonder if he ever built any musical instruments?
He was a great story teller....the best who ever rose from the dead.
He was also pretty good with fish and bread, as he could feed a whole lot of people with very little on hand.
I would call that enhanced chef skills.
And did i mention that he could make a lot of fish jump right into your net?
Hows that for fishing skills..
Apparently he liked to laugh and smile, as he created everything, and that would include the laugh and the smile.
He was good with people, and often healed them of their disease, demon possession, and despair.
However, u couldn't invite him to a funeral, as the dead would get out of their casket (or tomb) and rejoice.
He was also good at spotting a hypocrite and a liar and didnt mind letting them know they were.
Im not sure just how athletic he is, but he is certainly artistic.
It seems that everywhere i look, there are pretty birds, stars twinkling at me, flowers of many colors, and of course, nature in general as living art.
Thats the thing.....man has to plant a garden or draw a picture, while Jesus used the world he created ( John 1:10 & Colossians 1:16) to create living art in living vibrant color without a seed other then his Word.

Jesus did a lot of things and hung around a lot of people --- the only difference was the Kingdom of God dimension added to every activity. This was always on His mind like praying without ceasing.

If he was in the flesh today, you'd find him in some bars. :lol From my experience, people are far more receptive a little looped anyway.

I heard he was an avid water skier. I heard that at least...

I'm not sure where you think the social life of Jesus would have been recorded, as there is no attempt at biography in the New Tetament.

The Gospels are not history, they're remembrances of Jesus's ministry by various authors writen for specific audiences, decades after His death. They simply contain what the authors felt was important to remember about Jesus' lineage and teachings, and how His ministry fulfilled prophecies of the Hebrew writings.

The other books of the New Testament are about the early activities in the church, letters from Paul to various churches explaining points fo theology and dealing with conflicts within those churches, and Revelations, a apocalyptic writing.

There is a little more detail of Jesus' early life in the Gnostic gospels, if you chose to read those.

I'm confident that God desires that we enjoy His Creation and honor Him by living joyfully, but I've always believed if we thoroughly comprehended the magnitude of who He is and what He has done for us, we would spend every waking moment on our knees (figuratively). With that, I've always believed Jesus socialized to the extent that He visited, ate, and took walks with people. It's just hard to imagine him pulling up in a Fred Flinstone-like mobile at a drive-in movie. :)

I wouldn't rule it out, but... just sayin...
