This is Why I Hate Xmas!

The Heavenly Father must look down in disgust at what Xmas has become, a drunken festival of vain customs.

1 Hear what the Lord says to you, O house of Israel. 2 This is what the Lord says:

“Do not learn the ways of the nations

or be terrified by signs in the sky,

though the nations are terrified by them.

3 For the customs of the peoples are worthless;

they cut a tree out of the forest,

and a craftsman shapes it with his chisel.

4 They adorn it with silver and gold;

they fasten it with hammer and nails

so it will not totter.

#6 A 21-year-old woman from Middleton, Wisconsin was arrested when she threatened to shoot other shoppers while waiting to get into a Toys R Us store for Black Friday. The other shoppers had objected when she attempted to move to the front of the line.

#7 The following is video of customers literally tearing apart a store display at a Wal-Mart in Douglasville, Georgia as they pushed and shoved each other in an attempt to grab the best deals....
YouTube - Walmart is crazy on Black Friday!!!!

#8 The Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department actually "locked down" a section of a Cerritos, California shopping mall after a wild fight broke out in the food court. There were even reports that some people were flinging chairs at other customers.

#9 At one Wal-Mart in Texas, a near-riot broke out right in the middle of the store as a huge crowd of customers pushed and shoved each other to get a handful of Black Friday deals that were being wheeled out to the floor....

If you want to see even more videos of Black Friday craziness just simply do a search on Youtube - the videos of craziness are endless.

Remember, the products that these Americans are fighting over are not free. This is how crazy people are willing to go just to get a deep discount on an item.

So what is going to happen someday when people are desperate for food or shelter?

If this is how people act when the sun is shining, how are they going to behave once a really bad storm arrives?

In America today, fewer and fewer people are treating others the way that they would like to be treated themselves.

Instead of showing others kindness and respect, in 2010 most Americans would seemingly rather trample anyone who is in the way of getting what they want.

Let's try and learn something from the mistakes of Black Friday Madness.

...and this is why I love Christmas! because it gives good opportunities for testimony about the incarnation of the Lord Jesus Christ: John 1.14.

elvispelvis,

i agree but for different reasons. God did not tell us to celebrate Christ's birth. We are to celibrate His comming everyday rejoicing that He came to save us. Christians get so upset about non important matters. I heard on one Christian radio station that we are supposed to be upset because some city would not have a public Christmas tree. Tree's ,presents, wreaths etc have nothing to do with Christ's comming. The information I heard concerning the Christmas tree was in Germany there was a pagan religion that worshipped trees. So the Catholic church (the only Church at the time) incorporated them into their celibration.

The assigned task for Christians is to lead unbelievers to Christ and aid the Spirit in our own santification. You don't do this by threatening to boycot stores that don't say "Merry Christmas" or to make cities celebrate Christmas with trees. You do this by showing everyone the love of Christ. I really dont think Jesus wants us to force unbelievers to say "Merry Christmas".

Would someone please show me where Jesus gave us directions for a Christian protest.

Twice this morning I've encountered people that either cain't spell Christmas? When a person claiming Christ to be their savior does not show reverence for the name... one wonders.

Who cares about spelling you mis-spelt can't, so what, it's being picky

If you hate Christmas so much and want Jesus to be in it as He is supposed to be, try keeping His name in the word, 'Christmas'. We can take you more seriously that way.

It sets my teeth on edge to see the X.

i am not big on christmas that is what it is today. commercialism.

but if one must be technical . the feast of dedication is biblical.

I understand why people might look down on secular Christmas. It is very commercial.

It does not matter if you decorate or not, buy gifts or not, go to parties or not, have a feast or not, but it's what each of us hold in our hearts about it that becomes it's true meaning.

Alabaster: I saw someone wearing a 'Keep Christ in Christmas' badge.

Sounds good. :)

Danus, you had your very thoughtful post about letting secular society have "happy holidays" and keeping Christmas among ourselves. Let's just all agree. You people have your "holidays" and we'll keep our "Christmas".

Elvis, as a Christadelphian, I wouldn't think this would bother you at all!

Sorry for using the term Xmas but to me using Christ in front of a pagan, heathen Festival of Saturnia, is an abomination.

Yashua is the Son of God, our high Priest and Mediator between God and Man. He is the truth, the only way,
our remission of sins and I love Him dearly.

The Catholic church took the pagan custom of the Feast of Bacchus to celebrate the sun in the sky returning
and brought it into the church and said it is Christs birthday.

These facts are available to any who will search the matter out!

This is a personal thing and I do not expect any to follow I only want to show there is another opinion.

Why did no-one comment on the Bible verse I used in Jeremiah 10 which says DO NOT FOLLOW THE CUSTOM OF THE PEOPLE WHICH IS VAIN FOR THEY CUT DOWN A TREE BRING IT IN THE HOUSE ADORN IT WITH
GOLD AND SILVER.
This festival was in the time of Jeremiah that is how old it is!

Th1b.taylor.

Ur right even tho I don't think the holiday has anything to do with celebrating Jesus I shouldn't disrepect Him by acting like an unbeliever. thanks

Mike:

In the end the whole matter relates to the Deity of the Lord Jesus Christ, however far removed so many of the practices and perceptions of Christmas may have gone.

Personally, I love Christmas.

some say that the star of david is an idol as well. and i know of the origin of christmas.
personally i would rather celebrate chanukkah.

and think of the things that the lord did for isreal and will do in the end days for us when the time comes.

As a musician and also a musical group leader I LOVE Christmas since we can hit the streets and public venues for at least once a year and sing songs about the birth of Jesus as well as secular favorites. Not so the rest of the year. I think one might get arrested any other time of the year under the charge of 'illegal street preaching'. I don't know for how much longer but, for now anyway, at Christmas we can get away with it. I live in Townsville, Nth Queensland (Australia) and Christmas occurs during the summer months ...hence evening outdoor musical events. Our first of about a half-dozen musical gigs begins this coming weekend.

Thank God for Christmas!!

K:

Yes, there is a wealth of truth in many of the carols that are sung.

It can sometimes be the one time of the year when unbelievers, aware of this heritage, may be more receptive.

Someone dares to question the validity of the holy retail season?

A season of gluttony, drunkenness and excess. How could anyone think Christmas how we have it now isn't biblical....lol
Everyone knows Santa is the real meaning, among many other movies with the real meaning. What will the real meaning be this year?

Christmas.... not a time to be an animal that gets eaten.

All in jest my spiritual gift of sarcasm.

The environmentalist in me mourns the loss of our forests and wildlife for wrapping paper, to be used for a few hours then put in the bin.

Another reason that I dislike the season. Every time at this season a Christian Charity that we give monthly donations to has a program to give presents to needy children. Even though I don't think that Christmas glorifies Jesus I feel compelled to support this endevor. I do this because of the children. I would much rather give to their needs rather than presents. My wife and I give clothes but we also always include a present (that usually costs more than the clothes). We are giving anonymonously so I don't feel pressured to do this. I feel I'm supporting something I don't agree with just because I don't want a child being dissappointed on Christmas, a holiday that I don't agree with. I feel kinda like Paul in Romans "O wretched man that I am".

I thank God that I have a problem such as this. I thank God that I can afford to give. I just THANK GOD

I have to admit that it hurts a little to read posts like this.

I dug deep into my pocket earlier this year and bought some money tins that I handed out to colleagues. They filled it with their spare change and I collected the tins at the end of November. My fiancé and I counted the money and I asked a lady who dedicates a lot of her time to children to buy gifts for the children at a squatter camp that I regularly visit. She and her friend did a fabulous job at buying each of the 36 children there their own brand new gift.

These children never get anything. They wear second hand clothes that I collect from people whose children have out grown theirs. They nibble on whatever food charities can provide to a place that has no storage facilities or electricity. I thought that it would be nice for them to, for the first time, have a new gift instead of a broken one that some other, more privileged child didn't want anymore.
