I was just thinking back on a sermon I heard a few years ago. The pastor was also a psychology major when he was in school, he's a very good teacher (would have probably made a great college professor) and was very rational and truthful in all of his sermons. (Yes, I actually heard every sermon he ever preached.) The subject of this sermon was dating among young adult Christians. He researched all kinds of polls and studies that were done and how the Bible instructed us. What I am remembering, and one thing that stood out and kind of surprised me at the time, was that while the number one requirement of Christian women (he was talking about active, believing Christian women, not just those who attended church sometimes) was that the man must be a Christian. The surprise was that after that, and VERY close behind was that he must have a job that was good enough to give her support and security. In other words, he had to be making enough money to give her money. So I think generally speaking there isn't really a whole lot of difference between Christian women and secular women on this subject. He emphasized several times that if you are a Christian man and want to date a Christian woman, GET A JOB!
You're right, not so in every case. When a pastor preaches a sermon on subjects like this they would almost never claim what they say is true in every single case. By necessity they speak in generalities. I thank God for those who, like yourself, are the exception to what seems to be the rule in our times! Not so in every case as I was first looking for a Godly husband as I had a job and my own money, not much, but enough to get by on. I needed no dependency on a husband, but did expect him to at least have a job of any kind no matter what it payed. I'm the type of women that can be happy with a little as long as it's enough to pay the bills. Now that I am on disability and a fixed income it still does not matter how much my husband makes as long as we have enough to pay the bills. Anything above that is good, but not always necessary for there are many ways to have joy and fun in your life that cost you nothing.
My husband has never been rich, but right after we got married the company he was working for went belly up so all we had was my income for awhile which wasn't very much as I was a cashier in a convenient store. Times like this you really learn what trusting God is all about for we never went without anything that we needed. It's only those women that are materialistic that would have a problem.Question I ask myself is, what would that woman do if the once rich young man ends up poor after few years?

You must be a young woman.
You have a young woman's idea.
A husband doesn't GIVE his wife money,
they SHARE the money that comes into the home.
A wife is NOT an employee.
See?
I'm glad I was raised old school. This has become a society of throw away marriages because no one ever wants to work out whatever the problems are that arise at times. It has become an all about me type of society and that is so sad.My husband is the head of this house.. I am not a door mat.. i speak my piece.. but when we do not agree i go his way... Over the years he has learned that going his way is not always so good..
I do not believe i am submitting to my husband but submitting as unto the Lord..
Been there and been through the beatings, but my true happiness came when I gave all my internal feelings over to the Lord who gave me my joy and happiness back as He separated me from mine enemy literally and gave me the type of husband I was suppose to have all along. Even as a Christian women we can be deceived in the beginning of a relationship that leads to marriage.WIP
I know of what you speak.
BUT
I'll be a lot happier if my husband treats me well,
than if he beats me up every now and then.
Know what I mean?
The state of mind also depends on external factors...
Me and will always be. No city living for this gal. Been there, done it, didn't like it.Who's a country gal? Lol
You should write songs. You've got to know when to hold 'em / Know when to fold 'em / Know when to walk away / And know when to run
Gosh. I sure hope you don't think I was speaking about me personally!!Been there and been through the beatings, but my true happiness came when I gave all my internal feelings over to the Lord who gave me my joy and happiness back as He separated me from mine enemy literally and gave me the type of husband I was suppose to have all along. I knew you were not, but only speaking about the external factors.Gosh. I sure hope you don't think I was speaking about me personally!!
I'm really sorry you had such a bad experience FHG.
Violence is from satan.

Whew!I knew you were not, but only speaking about the external factors.
You will choose to be happier if your husband, friend, sibling, or whoever treats you well but the choice to be happy is still yours.WIP
