We are now all Gentiles and things have changed !

Why don't you go ahead and break it down for us as to why we don't need to be dunked in water.

I'll post verses to this later.........

We have it all upon belief ! And there are a lot of verses that tell us this. !
I am praying there are a lot of us who know this !

Matthew 3:11 "I (John the Baptist) baptize you with water for repentance. But after me will come one who is more powerful than I, whose sandals I am not fit to carry. He (Jesus) will baptize you with the Holy Spirit and with fire."

Mark 1:8 "I (John the Baptist) baptize you with water, but he (Jesus) will baptize you with the Holy Spirit."

Luke 3:16 John answered them all, " I baptize you with water. But one more powerful (Jesus) than I will come, the thongs of whose sandals I am not worthy to untie. He (Jesus) will baptize you with the Holy Spirit and with fire."

John 1:33 I would not have known him, except that the one who sent me to baptize with water told me, 'The man on whom you see the Spirit come down and remain is he (Jesus) who will baptize with the Holy Spirit.'

It is not about being good enough for Jesus. He is the fulfillment of ALL.

Matthew 5:17 "Do not think I have come to abolish the Law or the Prophets; I have not come to abolish them but to fulfill them."

John the Baptist was a Prophet.........Jesus fulfilled what he was trying to do.

You do not have permission to think for me.
I say it is all about being good enough for Jesus.

NO Water

Gal. 3

25
But after that faith is come, we are no longer under a schoolmaster.

26
For ye are all the children of God by faith in Christ Jesus.

27
For as many of you as have been baptized into Christ have put on Christ

Col. 2
10
And ye are complete in him, which is the head of all principality and power:

11
In whom also ye are circumcised with the circumcision made without hands, in putting off the body of the sins of the flesh by the circumcision of Christ:

12
Buried with him in baptism, wherein also ye are risen with him through the faith of the operation of God, who hath raised him from the dead.

13
And you, being dead in your sins and the uncircumcision of your flesh, hath he quickened together with him, having forgiven you all trespasses;

14
Blotting out the handwriting of ordinances that was against us, which was contrary to us, and took it out of the way, nailing it to his cross;

MAT:3
11
I indeed baptize you with water unto repentance: but he that cometh after me is mightier than I, whose shoes I am not worthy to bear: he shall baptize you with the Holy Ghost, and with fire:

Several things I find interesting about baptism.
The Matthew 3:11 repentance baptism was water. Not saved but told to go on to the next aspects of baptism.

The baptism into Christ Jesus saves. Acts 4:12 I do not mean to use this verse in any other manner than to say: not John saves and not Holy Spirit saves.

The Holy Spirit baptism empowers for service. Mark 1:8 above

All three are described separately. We have run them together into a single ceremony.

When a person becomes aware of sin and repentance, why not use water. This is pre salvation and john did it.

You can quote your favorite Jesus ceremony for me.

Laying on hands for Holy Spirit ?

Get um lost. Get um saved. Get um empowered. You might have to use a little fire to purify.

You have a wonderful gift of wisdom. I value pretty much anything that you say.
So what do you think about the person who is at peace with God in the Holy Spirit wanting to get baptized because he loves God and wants to do everything he wants him to do?

Besides it being an obedience to God, I see public water baptism as the launching pad for a life of powerful witness. I tell people to just do it, and do it as soon as possible. Not getting water baptized is like going on a diet that only you know about. And we all know how hard it is to stay obedient to a diet nobody knows you're on.

Get your witness for God jump started--get water baptized. Right away. And make sure you have lots of your brothers and sisters in attendance to rejoice with you. Me? I'll be the 6'2" 220lb guy bawling his eyes out at this wonderful moment of time in your Christian life.

Was John's Baptism from men or from God?

44While Peter was still speaking these words, the Holy Spirit came on all who heard the message.
45 The circumcised believers who had come with Peter were astonished that the gift of the Holy Spirit had been poured out even on the Gentiles.
46 For they heard them speaking in tongues and praising God. Then Peter said,
47 "Can anyone keep these people from being baptized with water? They have received the Holy Spirit just as we have."
48 So he ordered that they be baptized in the name of Jesus Christ. Then they asked Peter to stay with them for a few days. Acts 10:44-48

The Apostle Peter seemed to have the understanding that Gentiles were to be baptized in water, even though they were baptized in the Holy Spirit.

Please consider this.

So what do you think about the person who is at peace with God in the Holy Spirit wanting to get baptized because he loves God and wants to do everything he wants him to do?

I have to give you my feeling on the matter from my Spirit. These feet are mine. I'm standing in the Jordan River at the baptismal sight. I was such a hypocrite about the water that day, anymore of a hypocrite and I would've been dunked. I literally got the biggest rash wherever the water hit me on my skin later that day. I believe the reference to water now, is the Holy Spirit.

Revelation 22:17 The Spirit and the bride say, "Come!" And let him who hears say, "Come!" Whoever is thirsty, let him come; and whoever wishes, let him take the free gift of the water of life.

I'm sorry Jethro. I can't be a hypocrite today. I hope this is coming out sounding like it is from my heart, I don't mean to sound rude ever. I don't believe in the dunking.
