up on this rock.

Yea the "Scriptures" are all just a "BIG WISH"

Actually, you quoted out of context. Your post suggests that they couldn't retrieve the fish at all. But, in context, they just needed help to pull up the net.

I made the point I wanted to make!:yes
There is a good point to be made of how Peter pulled in the net , but I think I will save that for a another time?:chin

Joh 21:11

Simon Peter went up, and drew the net to land full of great fishes, an hundred and fifty and three: and for all there were so many, yet was not the net broken.

How important is doctrine? Hear Paul: "Take heed unto thyself, and unto the doctrine; continue in them: for in doing this thou shalt both save thyself, and them that hear thee" I Tim.4:16.

Jesus was talking to Peter as they stood on the physical rock in Caesarea Philippi which was a rock literally filled with niches for pagan idols, where ungodly values dominated. It was there that Jesus asked Peter who he thought Jesus was and it was only by Gods Spirit that revealed to Peter that Jesus was the Christ (Messiah), son of the living God, Matthew 16:13-18. Jesus said upon this rock (truth) I will build my Church and that the gates of hell will not prevail against it.

Are we not to also be that rock of witness (truth) as the Disciples were in their traveling witness of Christ as they taught others! So what has changed from this past time to the present is that Christians compromise their own values and would never step foot into the gates of hell to confront the evil that is in this world. Many of our churches have become politically correct as to not step on any toes, because after all we do not want to offend anyone, but Jesus challenged his followers to be on the offense, to proclaim the truth without shame.

The Church (those who are in Christ) should become staging areas rather than fortresses; places that equip Gods people to confront a sinful world instead of hiding from it. Jesus knows that the pagan world will resist, but he challenges us to go there anyway, and to build his church in those very places that are most morally decayed. Gods word is never changing and will certainly never come back void.

Instead of a church focusing on beating it's members up with the insistence that they have to be busy growing the church it should be focusing on growing each believer up into their own obedient relationship with God in daily life. From that comes the power to share the gospel with others who you want to see find the life you have in Christ.
your right so here is the the point to the O.P problem is members are not growing in the grace and knowledge of the Lord, is it the pastor fault ? could be if he/she does not feed them and wean them off milk. on the other hand if the member has no desire to grow. then they stay babes in Christ. when the Members grow the Church will grow . i heard a older man say he worked on a sheep farm in his younger days. there one of the flock that did not want to EAT . he tried with every effort to hand feed. the owner come along said let him alone he has the will to die. i also heard this before we are so busy telling folks how to die. we forget to tell them how to live*

It is a fascinating study especially to know that Caesarea Philippi was a very pagan place with it's worship of their god Pan (fertility god) who was said to dwell in the cliffs there and at the bottom of the cliff was a cave that is referred to as the Gates of Hell where Pan (fertility god) would enter into for a season and then return. Jesus choose to bring his disciples there to show them the power and authority God has over evil that even the gates of hell could never prevail against that which is God thus Jesus asking the disciples who he was with Peter knowing that God is mightier than any god of this world and to remember this during their time of ministry.
