I know what you mean about some co-workers & customers .... I've wondered the same thing at times!

I will update when I hear things.I will also post the archeological digs on the ais.they will possibly be mentioning them with the vero dig as the canal disrupted several ais mounds.they did mention them before.I wish I had maps by the spanish surveys and the us gov't prior to 1911 of My county thar listed creeks and so forth.the main relief here followed and straightened the van alkenburg? Creek.some of it was where about the hospital is.hmm I might be able to find that.old ww2 to 70 will have that for sure.I can use the canal as a reference. It's visible .I will post this tommorow.looking the groves will make that hard but I will hopefully see it.the creek wasn't wide

Your archaeological expedition focuses on the discovery of old maps.

I wonder if your historical society would have them?

No.I have a hyperlink to the university of miami.I have perused them.

Excellent :thumbsup

Thanks ... I appreciate the maps with references for clarification. They help me to understand the lay of the land.

Some of the places will be gone.from 1970 up I can use HoGan and sons and the streets haven't changes since ww2 much.the county administration building took much of 27th but I will by the use of hogan and sons be able to work around that.

Some of the places may be gone, but your ability to relate the past with the present is very helpful and educational :wave2

(Did you realize you're a teacher here?)

No,it helps that I'm old enough to remember bUT vero is changing .unrelated to this is thar three or more old and we'll known edifices are razed.looking to far back for me as is the case with anything prior to 58 as many things are gone or rebuilt and we're unknown to me has made it difficult. That us why I choose hogan and sons and that I looked up on the county tax page.there is a bridge north of the dig that wasn't the the rr or us1.it did appear to be a path wide enough for a car .I saw it on the 81 arial. So going back to 43.it will be the reference.so will the ww2 era fec line to the navy base as its mound is in the 81 topo.aviation Blvd follows that perfectly at this location.

Still, it's important history of your area that you're gathering.

Cro-Magnons are essentially us. Anatomically indistinguishable, although they tended to be a bit larger than later farming-based humans.

My daughter once commented on the description of Neandertals as squatty, big-nosed, large-headed,muscular humans, with reddish hair and light skins.

She thought it was a pretty good description of me.

The history is been gathered but I need to somehow get to mcds.the have collages of vero from 1890s to 2000 ish. I have looked at them all.one photo is of Rd carter dredging this canal possibly near the veto man sight .Rd carter and associates still exists and that name should ring a bell as I mentioned them before.it's also a more personal connection as my fil surveyed for them.the zeuch home and Warren zeuch is also connected.both men started what is now called Indian River farms.

The main relief canal and the south relief canal are easily visible without zooming in that map.these canals saved vero from the flood of 1920.fellsmere nor Sebastian were as lucky.at the time fellsmere was bigger then vero and Oslo

You should take her comment as a compliment, Barbarian !

It was a political jab.AirDancer knows why I say that.i wasn't intending to post another route pic, history of Indian River county thread but since these families and story are Orally recorded and documented historically I will share them. The vero man wasn't the only FossIL of a human found.many were and were tossed in the trash.or sold .Kennedy got sellers here as fast as he could to save what was left and sellers took that to Tallahassee.

It's rather telling when I say that I think it's cool to read about a meeting from 1919.
When zeuch and carter died they deeded Indian River farms to the county.but I thought that was later then 1919.my old boss was a surveyor for Rd carter and told me that.
