Are you having issues getting past sin in your lfe? Have faith my friends. Jesus said in John 8, He that commits sin is a slave to it. But if He sets you free from it, free you are indeed. Paul speaks of this slavery and the freedom Jesus offers in Romans 7 and 8. He says In respect to the bondage, the evil that he wouldn't he does. And if he does what he doesn't want to, it isn't him, but the sin in him, even though he delights over the Law of God that is in his mind. He can't help himself.

He calls this dilemma a law in 7:21 and says it is the law of sin, and it has him in captivity in verse 23.

Then he pleads, oh wretched man that I am, who shall deliver me from this body of death! And then I’m respect to that he says, there is now no condemnation to us who are in Christ Jesus.

Why?

For the Spirit of the Life in Christ Jesus has set us free from the Law of sin so that the righteousness of the Law be fulfilled in us. Who walk after this Spirit of life in Christ Jesus and not after the flesh. For if we walk after the flesh we shall die. But if we through walking in the Spirit of the life in Christ Jesus mortify the deeds of the body we shall live.

So how are we set free from death?

By walking in the Spirit of the life in Christ Jesus mortifying the deeds of the body that the righteousness of the Law be fulfilled in us.

In respect to this, how much leaven leavens the whole?

What if we are only walking in part and not wholly?

Greetings, and welcome to Christian Forums!

Ok I can go along here, but let me ask you a few things to clarify your theology:

1. How would you say we mortify the deeds of the body? (in practical terms)
2. When you ask, "How much leaven leavens the whole," what are you talking about getting leavened?
3. What would you say, if we are walking only in part and not wholly?

What if we are only walking in part and not wholly?
If we are only walking in part then we have one foot still being worldly and the other foot being Spiritual and we can not have one in the world and one in Christ as we can not serve two masters.

Mat 6:24 No man can serve two masters: for either he will hate the one, and love the other; or else he will hold to the one, and despise the other. Ye cannot serve God and mammon.

Rev 3:15 I know thy works, that thou art neither cold nor hot: I would thou wert cold or hot.
Rev 3:16 So then because thou art lukewarm, and neither cold nor hot, I will spue thee out of my mouth.

We are always redeemed sinners, not just sometimes. What I mean is that we will have the sin nature in us until we die, and it is in conflict with the new, righteous nature that God gives us with our new birth. To make that statement, I direct you to the God's commands in 1 Thessalonians 5:16-18 and Matthew 5:48:
Th 5:16 Rejoice always,
1Th 5:17 pray without ceasing,
1Th 5:18 give thanks in all circumstances; for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you.
Mat 5:48 You therefore must be perfect, as your heavenly Father is perfect.
All Christians have a long way to go toward the perfection God requires, but through the power of Jesus' resurrection, we can make progress. However, as our divine Judge, he has already given us his verdict of "not-guilty" (justified us) through Jesus' death.

That is something we always try to downplay sadly.

Thank you! I am not sure why you could not just answer the questions then ask these. But as you say, I will play along.

Not sure what you mean by practical; But, "It is He that works in us both to will and do His good pleasure."
2. When you ask, "How much leaven leavens the whole," what are you talking about getting leavened?

In this respect, us through sin.
3. What would you say, if we are walking only in part and not wholly?
If we are sinning willfully after receiving the knowledge of the truth there remains no more sacrifice for sin. Only a fearful looking forward to judgement an the fiery indignation which shall devour the adversary, those sinning willfully. Those doing despite unto the Spirit of Grace. It is a terrible thing to fall into the hands of the living God.

No one knows anyone's condition in respect to this other than God. Only God knows the heart.

Imagine how Abraham would have looked to others climbing the mountain to sacrifice his son.

but through the power of Jesus' resurrection, we can make progress. However, as our divine Judge, he has already given us his verdict of "not-guilty" (justified us) through Jesus' death.
He that does righteousness is righteous EVEN AS He, Jesus is righteous.

For it is He that works in us both to will and do His good pleasure.

Yes it is. The flesh wants what the flesh wants as the flesh leads us in a path of unrighteousness leading us to our own damnation.

Rev 22:11 He that is unjust, let him be unjust still: and he which is filthy, let him be filthy still: and he that is righteous, let him be righteous still: and he that is holy, let him be holy still.
Rev 22:12 And, behold, I come quickly; and my reward is with me, to give every man according as his work shall be.
Rev 22:13 I am Alpha and Omega, the beginning and the end, the first and the last.

Rev 22:14 Blessed are they that do his commandments, that they may have right to the tree of life, and may enter in through the gates into the city.
Rev 22:15 For without are dogs, and sorcerers, and whoremongers, and murderers, and idolaters, and whosoever loveth and maketh a lie.
Rev 22:16 I Jesus have sent mine angel to testify unto you these things in the churches. I am the root and the offspring of David, and the bright and morning star.
