We The People

one reason I don't go for marx too much now I'm (somehow...) a Christian is because the end of time is foretold in Scripture, and...

it does not involve a worker's paradise. so, there's that.

its worth noting that most media outlets are controlled by a handful of mega-corporations, which...not to sound paranoid, but...kind of explains how things are covered, why some issues don't get coverage, and...

remember the 'welfare queen' themes, running up to the 1996 welfare 'reform' act, signed by Clinton? yeah. now the UN says the US not only has too much poverty, but way too much deep poverty. thanks, mainstream media.

that's just an example. i think it can veer left or right. in fact...i think the left vs right is itself a result of mainstream media 'coverage'...most issues are a whole lot more complicated than 'liberal' vs 'conservative' . anyway...

im thinking maybe things will get patched up and then more Scripture will be fulfilled, later...im hoping much later... :-)

Regardless of what type of Government style you happen to favor...

What I am having a hard time understanding is why the Government there is behaving in opposition to what their own best interests are.

China, including Hong Kong, has for the past decade promoted their people (as a low cost) as a great resource for businesses to exploit. Now that can't happen if they are busy rioting and the whole country is in political unrest.

The exact things that the Government should not be doing (which is to incite the rioters more and gain the rioter's cause more sympathy on the world stage) is exactly what the Government and their police have been doing.

If there was a leadership figure that they could silence...they would, should, and could. If there was one...but there is no one person to lead this cause. It is organically generated by grass roots organizations...as in many of them, all with the same ideas and goals.

That's really telling to any Government and what we used to call...."A CLUE"
But on top of that is their reaction...which has been the very things that they shouldn't do if they wanted to keep the people quiet and docile and exploitable.

There's no telling what the Government's reaction is going to cost themselves. Its going to be in the billions. Just for chemical attacks (blue, stinging water dye) on a few Muslims. People came out in droves to assist them in cleaning the Mosque steps and building. Most of which will never become Muslim...but feel sympathetic towards their plight.

Of course there are going to be agitators in any group of people. Hey, even this website has it's agitators...and for the most part we, as a group, ignore them and remove their platform by not reacting to them. And then they go away all dejected because we simply won't share in their hate. But to react in such a hostile way...with every poor manner designed to denigrate, disrespect, and humiliate even the bystanders who are calling for peace...it just doesn't compute.

They want to stay in power. If they perceive a threat to their rule, they will attack anyone perceived as rebels. If they think they have to zap a few thousand HK citizens to stay in power, then that is what they will do.

Now that can't happen if they are busy rioting and the whole country is in political unrest.

Its not the whole country, its just one city. China monitors its citizens carefully, assigning them points for good citizenship. Anyone caught rioting in HK is likely to be sent to a distant reeducation camp.

China will not allow HK to become an independent country. Tiananmen Square went nowhere. They cracked down on the rebellion, and that was that.

Advertisers. News sells advertising to stay in business. They can't report on anything that makes the lobbyists mad. Lobbyists de facto rule.
