I don't go to church regularly.

The reason I asked the question is that to someone that is a member of a Church and attend regulary, the values of that church is important to why they attend that church. I wont attend a church that does not teach what I believe in. I would rather leave and have fellowship, which is biblical, with another church. In this case a Church denomination leadership has voted to accept something that is against the beliefs of the greater church body. You cannot expect a christian who's fundermental values see homosexuality as a sin want to be part of that Church body any more. I personally could not accept a homosexual pastor in the church I attend, and if the Church leadership decided that they would be performing homosexual marraiges in the church, I would seek fellowship elsewhere. I have personal friends who are homosexual, I have a friend who is on drugs. I am not homophobic, I just believe that when a person comes to Christ, they need to leave their sin and repent.
This issue may seem small, but to a Church member who is part of a church body, it is no small thing.

I don't go to church, I used to go regularly though.

I understand wanting to leave a church that doesn't preach your beliefs. If you want to leave, its your freedom. My position is that its the Church's decision. I'm surprised it was an Evangelical church, considering the few I've been in contact with have both tried to militantly change me, and didn't even care about my abstinence.

look at England in a few months it will be forced upon the church to hire lbgt as secrataries, and even they are being asked by the government to preach the acceptance of gays in society and that's ok with god to be gay. I believe that's what justvisting may be seing in canada.

That law is in england is for the lbgt to have equal oppurtunnity not marriage, churches are allowed certain exemptions in the labor law there(used to) and here.

link for this and Gabe who used to be on this site posted this and she is a uk subject.

I find the source suspect. It provided no details, just opinion. Where is the link to the law itself. Also England has a state church. The church of England. I see no reason a state church wouldn't have to follow state law. We have no state church in the U.S.
Original source, look at the bottom and this site has links to the source

I was doing my daily reading and came across this verse which made me think of this thread.

Hebrews 10:26--If we deliberately keep on sinning after we have received the knowledge of the truth, no sacrifice for sins is left. (NIV)

This is where the ELCA and the men and women who voted for the clergy to be PRACTICING gay and lesbian are wrong. The Bible clearly states that homosexuality is a sin. All of us sin daily but part of our faith is in the REPENTANCE for these sins. These clergymen know the Word of God but in order to satisfy the flesh they DELIBERATELY keep on sinning and then will look for excuses to invalidate the Word of God (we all should have equal rights, Jesus says to not hurt your neighbors feelings, we need to be politically correct, etc., etc., etc.,) This vote was a worldly vote and not a Godly vote. Before anyone says that I am hatefilled let me make sure everyone understands that I said everyone (including myself) sins but that scripture says to let your brother know when he sins. Luke 17:3--If your brother sins, rebuke him, and if he repents, forgive him. (NIV)

Lance, you have continually said that you are abstaining, that is great. Is it OK to ask, What is your reason for the abstaining?

I'm not into nymphomania because I see nothing in it. I've seen so many people harmed ( gay and straight) by guys and girls who are only going out to get laid. No attachment, not love, just sex. I see this in both orientations. I'm a very apathetic person, I can relate to others easier. I don't see the fun in bar hopping looking for the next stud. I like monogamy, I'm abstaining until I find a guy That shares my love instead of just wanting to leave me when they wake up in the morning.

Oh and before anyone asks, yes I have had girl friends, its actually how I officially know I'm gay. I still talk to them to.

You are not hateful. Your beliefs in your church should be voiced. What is done in your church is your business.

The equal rights thing doesn't connect with your church though. The equal rights are on a legal level. Churches won't be forced to do anything they don't want to. Only churches that want to or already accept LGBT memebers will hold ceremonies etc.

This is what is the most misunderstood part of all this. The thing is I respect you guy's views on not wanting me to merry in your church. All I ask is the same respect to be able to go to a court house that isn't under your belief system. I will never understand how me and another man getting a piece of paper at a court house effects your church, children, or lives.

This is disturbing. In no way should homosexuals feel unwelcome in the church. The welcoming of the marriage though of two is clearly against what is written in scripture.
