What about demons?

I've encountered demons twice in my life.

The first time was a month or two before I got saved. Its important that I preface this with the fact that I've never been a drinker or drug user.

I was in a bit of a rage at the time. I went into my bedroom and rolled over. I was so angry I literally was lying in my bed cursing GOD and who he was. I rolled toward my wall and was shocked to see this thing coming out of my wall at me. My mind was filled with with this screaming sound and without thinking I prayed to Christ. He mercifully sent the demon away and I was left ringing inside.

The second time was just after I became a believer. I was reconciling a friendship with a Christian friend I'd had a falling out with. Suddenly this startling looking man was sitting next to us saying the most blasphemous things I'd heard since getting saved. We left feeling drained of energy. I talked with my mom about it afterword, being a newer believer myself, and she confirmed our suspissions that the man was most likely possessed.

Though we can rebuke them in Christs name I believe it utterly foolish to take a haughty attitude towards them.

Keep reading the Authorized King James Bible and use your authority in Jesus name. Don't be afraid of blasphemers, rebuke them in the name of Jesus Christ. Or you could quote Scripture to them, they will either take it or run.
Remember Ephesians 6:
10 Finally, my brethren, be strong in the Lord, and in the power of his might.
11 Put on the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil.
12 For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places.
13 Wherefore take unto you the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand.
14 Stand therefore, having your loins girt about with truth, and having on the breastplate of righteousness;
15 And your feet shod with the preparation of the gospel of peace;
16 Above all, taking the shield of faith, wherewith ye shall be able to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked.
17 And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God:
18 Praying always with all prayer and supplication in the Spirit, and watching thereunto with all perseverance and supplication for all saints;
19 And for me, that utterance may be given unto me, that I may open my mouth boldly, to make known the mystery of the gospel,
20 For which I am an ambassador in bonds: that therein I may speak boldly, as I ought to speak.

Blessings

this is what I think about demons, are they real- very much so.

Is there a demon under every doily- no.

something that concerns me greatly is Christians misunderstanding of demons.

Superstition is the biggest issue.

–noun 1. a belief or notion, not based on reason or knowledge, in or of the ominous significance of a particular thing, circumstance, occurrence, proceeding, or the like.

2. a system or collection of such beliefs.

3. a custom or act based on such a belief.

4. irrational fear of what is unknown or mysterious, especially in connection with religion.

5. any blindly accepted belief or notion.

Look at this-

Matthew 10:1
And he called to him his twelve disciples and gave them authority over unclean spirits, to cast them out, and to heal every disease and every affliction.

it seems to me in the bible talk of unclean spirits usually seems to have reference to associated ailments.

To my way of thinking and the understanding of the people back then maybe "unclean spirit might have been a generic term for unexplainable physical ailment. How else would someone describe epilepsy back then? I believe what Jesus gave them the power to do was drive out sickness and demons but not every time it was demonic..or we are ll demon possessed!.. and everyone we know is.
when Jesus drove out a demon it was said as such

Matthew 10

Jesus Restores Two Demon-Possessed Men

28 When he arrived at the other side in the region of the Gadarenes,<sup class="footnote" value="[<a href=&quot;#fen-NIV-23374c&quot; title=&quot;See footnote c&quot;>c</a>]">[c] two demon-possessed men coming from the tombs met him. They were so violent that no one could pass that way. 29 “What do you want with us, Son of God?” they shouted. “Have you come here to torture us before the appointed time?” 30 Some distance from them a large herd of pigs was feeding. 31 The demons begged Jesus, “If you drive us out, send us into the herd of pigs.”
32 He said to them, “Go!” So they came out and went into the pigs, and the whole herd rushed down the steep bank into the lake and died in the water. 33 Those tending the pigs ran off, went into the town and reported all this, including what had happened to the demon-possessed men. 34 Then the whole town went out to meet Jesus. And when they saw him, they pleaded with him to leave their region.

I think a lot of Christians have been tricked into conjuring great armies of formidable demons in their minds that probably don't exist. At least not to the extent imagined.

A christian CANNNOT be possessed by a demon.
1 John 4

"The only thing we have to fear, is fear itself!"-Franklin D Roosevelt.

All I have to say on that sorry it was so long.

ps. i think there are a lot of urban myths surrounding demons circulating in our christian culture...I am not convinced it all is true.

Surely every other thing in life cant be demon possessed lol! I think its a crock of it!

Try asking the next person who clams something is demon possessed for their references and research of how they arrived at that conclusion and proof of the possession. It iss all cool to say it but you at least must be sure of that claim and not be regurgitating unfounded myths.

It is in the churches that Christians are coming to be delivered of demonic strongholds. The unsaved sure aren't.

Hmmmmm. . . . . . . so "unsaved" people are unable to rid themselves of substance abuse or adictions? :chin I . . . . .I think I've seen it happen. :yes

Back in o about 1956 i saw a demon! A real live demon! looked kinda slimy ugly green.... the frog was doing his best to be a demon. A well known preacher had this poor frog in a jar...

Do i believe there are demons yes i do but in this case the demon wasn't the one in the jar.

i believe there are evil spirits or an evil spirit. Was that frog a demon nope. The preacher was raking in the $$$ from folks who wanted the sensational. Scare the hell out of a guy and you can get his money too.

He said: 3 “Blessed are the poor in spirit,
for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.
4 Blessed are those who mourn,
for they will be comforted.
5 Blessed are the meek,
for they will inherit the earth.
6 Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness,
for they will be filled.
7 Blessed are the merciful,
for they will be shown mercy.
8 Blessed are the pure in heart,
for they will see God.
9 Blessed are the peacemakers,
for they will be called children of God.
10 Blessed are those who are persecuted because of righteousness,
for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.
11 “Blessed are you when people insult you, persecute you and falsely say all kinds of evil against you because of me. 12 Rejoice and be glad, because great is your reward in heaven, for in the same way they persecuted the prophets who were before you.

If you are persecuted by demonic things in the world its probably because you are fighting for God and taking ground. If you are not being persecuted.....

This isn't about persecution by demonic people. This is about demons who affect Christians. Many people come to Christ and receive salvation yet never deal with their strongholds until years later, and discover through a process of renunciation that they had a demonic affliction all along.

Churches who are wanting people to experience their freedom in Jesus Christ are finding that they are having to deal with this everywhere. It's a good thing. Christians are getting freed all over!

Since the subject is demons and Scripture is being quoted, I figure I throw this one in too (seeing the dialog is taking numerous twists and turns).

Acts 19:13-16 NKJV

Then some of the itinerant Jewish exorcists took it upon themselves to call the name of the Lord Jesus over those who had evil spirits, saying, “We exorcise you by the Jesus whom Paul preaches.â€

Also there were seven sons of Sceva, a Jewish chief priest, who did so.

And the evil spirit answered and said, “Jesus I know, and Paul I know; but who are you?†(emphasis mine)

Then the man in whom the evil spirit was leaped on them, overpowered them, and prevailed against them, so that they fled out of that house naked and wounded.

Be blessed, Stay blessed!

I agree that demons can only possess unsaved people. I know in Africa there are native people that do these dances where they expect demons to enter them. And they go crazy. And there are far more unsaved people on this planet than saved people but God is stronger than all demons. There are unsaved people out there that want to change there lives but dont know how. They are prisoners of the enemy. We can reach out to them with the Gospel, they might scream and yell, but once they are saved and realise what has happened then likely they will be very thankful. Jesus said that those who sinned more before they became Christian would be more thankful.

Demons afflict the soul part of the human being and that certainly happens in Christians. Satan may not possess the spirit of the Christian, but we often are afflicted with demonic strongholds in our souls (mind, will and emotional center) from our past that need breaking down and Jesus is just the One who can do it, by His Spirit, through renunciation. This is very much what countless Christians are dealing with but they are ignorant of it all.

Demons are around and they're oppressive. They're just hard to spot. I don't want an argument but I went to one college campus that was supposed to be Christian and felt awfully oppressed. I believe a higher number of them are where a high number of Christians are.

Strong believers who are doing the will of God are a threat to Satan's kingdom. For sure, they are his first and foremost targets.

Demons live according to lies believed and held as Truth. There can be many ways to subvert the Truth, hence you can have many demons living in one man and yet only one Truth that can live in all men. Lies are stacked upon lies until the Truth is buried. However remove the first and foremost lie and all those lies come falling down. The first lie ever said to man was presented through subtlty but in essence said, "don't trust God".

Strong believers who are doing the will of God are a threat to Satan's kingdom. For sure, they are his first and foremost targets.

If you are doing something for God expect resistance from the dark. If you are owned by the dark expect no resistance but also no light.

YouTube - Todd Bentley's Wife is Demon Possessed!!!

She has dreams of talking to dead people. Oral Roberts. And the Spirit of a Kundalini Elephant. You can see from this video that they do cobra like moves. She mentions the "Sons of Issacar" or "Signs of Ishtar" at the 2:48 mark and starts manifesting a demon.

Posting this sort of incendiary stuff just derails any topic.

The constant reference to the kundalini spirit is simply a fearmongering tactic. The ignorant fall for it.

It is an evil spirit that causes people to make these videos, and a person falls right in line with them when they are perpetuated on a Christian forum.
